Fyi University of Abuja is not even among the top 10 universities in Nigeria.
Abuja is designed to be just the political capital and not a commercial city .. its mostly civil servant living there..
Finance ,trade, business and the oldest and top universities are distributed in other states of the Nigerian federation . Nigeria has many champion cities outside the capital so abuja is not congested and does not have to be our star city.
    Make una continue to compare😅😅😅😅😅

The comparison is flood because unlike Ghana which has everything focused in Accra, Nigeria is different,
    1. Abuja is just mainly the capital where all federal government headquarters and a lot of embassies is at and has good infrastructures and roads
    2. Lagos is the business and entertainment hub of Nigeria where you will find the most private companies, Lagos GDP is bigger than the combination of Ghana, Benin, Togo, Senegal, Niger and Liberia's GDP and it is bigger than 47 African countries GDP individually
    3. Akwa Ibom, Delta and Port Harcourt is where most Oil and Gas Companies are in Nigeria
    4. Calabar is known as the Tourism hub of Nigeria
    5. Kano is known as the Agricultural hub of Nigeria
and so on, there are alot of states that plays different key roles to contribute to Nigerian economy, But it seems like most things in Ghana are happening in Accra

Which city in west Africa is more naturally and beautifully endowed than Calabar? Calabar is in the same league with Cape Town and Nairobi when it comes to tourism. What you don't know is bigger than you. Also Uyo city in Akwa Ibom state is 💯% safer than Accra, and the city of His in Plateau state has light 100% than Accra and the whole of Ghana. Development in Nigeria is diversed and it spreads across cities unlike Ghana that's only Accra. Nigeria na your mate?

Well I am happy with your content, I just want to add that Abuja became the capital of Nigeria of recent compare to Accra that has always been the capital of Ghana in other words Abuja officially became the capital of Nigeria on December 12, 1991. Before that, Lagos was the capital. The decision to move the capital to Abuja was made in order to create a more centrally located capital that could better serve the various regions of Nigeria and to ease congestion and overpopulation in Lagos, which was the country's economic hub. The move to Abuja was part of a broader plan to decentralize the country's governance and promote equal development across Nigeria's regions

Which is why Lagos remain the main city for Nigerians in the minds of Nigerians because everything was put into its development including time, centuries in the making from the days of the BenIn empire of Nigeria and the trade with the Portuguese who were in West Africa 100 years before the British in the 1400s.

@@ngoziikemefuna500 True, you are very correct. In fact Calabar was an important place for the Portuguese who didn’t colonise us 100 years before the British arrived. They left their statues of the idols images of Christianity behind for the British to find.
It was a capital during the colonial times. My grand father used to travel all the way to Calabar to conduct official business during the colonial era. The British colonisers took the capital to the North once and rushed it to Lagos out of fear of Muslims beheading them the day they lose it once it was clear that the Nigerian youths wanted independence. They wanted to be close to their little ships by the coast of Lagos to escape home to England as a get out of jail card. There were no little war boats with incredibly strong young black men spoiling for a fight and vengeance in Lagos to harass them in the waters of Lagos like in the Niger Delta that can be deployed all the way to the waters of Calabar to cut off their escape if it ever comes to a military fight for independence as some of the youths wanted back then.
Some believed that there was honour in using the old ways for regaining our lost independence through bloodshed and some still do today even if they can’t turn back the hands of time. Getting to kill the people who killed your people in genocides on the battle field has it’s perks if you were able to do it while they were still alive. Nigerians already realised that Caucasians weren’t more intelligent or superior to Africans and were indeed physically or genetically weaker than Africans the moment they volunteered to go and die in the world wars of Europe and in every military campaigns the British dragged us to before our independence. Malaria also killed then with relative easy and they had to be carried around like useless excuses for men. Our kind did all the hard work and they just shouted out commands and took credit.
Thankfully the British were reasonable unlike the French and we just talked for decades instead of fighting to gain our independence.

You need to travel from Accra to Abuja before you can make any informed comparison. As at today the developmental gap between Abuja and Accra is very huge despite Abuja being a fairly new city. What has a city ranking got to do with the ranking of universities in them or millionaires in them. And in fact there are more millionaires in Abuja than in Accra.

Hello Cyrus,I appreciate your attempt to be honest and transparent. That said, Accra doubles as the economic and political capital of Ghana, while Abuja is the political capital of Nigeria.Another important factor you have missed is that Abuja being just 32 years is a baby compared to Accra. Finally, in as much as I dislike negative comparison,I will advise that going to the two cities in person and having a feel of both places, will give you far more insight than you will ever get from a website. 1. Nigeria is less centralized, unlike Ghana that almost everything is centered in Accra.
    2. Accra on average has the basic necessities, while Abuja lacks some, such as stable electricity and security. But when viewed holistically, Abuja has more modern infrastructures than Accra.
    3. Price of goods and services are more expensive in Accra as compared to Abuja, despite Abuja having a wealthier population on average.
    4. Accra is not just the political capital of Ghana, but the economic capital as well, whereas Abuja is just the political capital of Nigeria, with Lagos being the economic hub.
    5. The major economic players in Accra are not indigenous, while in Abuja the reverse is the case.

I know this video is about comparing both capitals and ur assessments about both cities might be correct. It is very informative and I appreciate ur effort. But I feel videos like this create a misconception about Nigeria in peoples' minds and that misconception I think people are having is that Abuja defines Nigeria just like how Accra defines Ghana. In African countries most of the time the best things are always situated in the capital, the capital is where everything about that country happens and it usually has the most population, and also the only place where u can get a feel of urban lifestyle. But that is not the case for Nigeria. One thing about development in Nigeria is that things are a little bit more dispersed. For example university of Nigeria is not situated in Abuja or even Lagos, it is not even the best university in Nigeria. The best university in Nigeria is also not situated in Abuja or Lagos. Other things like the best football stadium, or the biggest company are not located in Abuja. I live in the southern part of Nigeria, Rivers state, probably no one outside of Nigeria have heard of this place and it's no where near the capital but here we still get a bit of an urban lifestyle. We have things like Drive-Through, Over-head Mono Rail system (though unoperational now because of the recession), stadiums, airports, seaports, parks, kfc 🍗, basically everything u can find in a capital city we have here, and we don't see Abuja as a goto place for business. My point is to address that misconception. Don't judge or measure our rate of growth or development solely by what u see in Abuja because the focus of the government right now is not on Abuja. The focus is to industralize other regions of the country and to keep many people out of Abuja as much as possible. Abuja is mainly for administrative purposes that's why u don't see many people or industries there.

In terms of production, inventions and industrialization give it to Aba city in Abia state and Onitsha city in Anambra state.
Almost all our 40 cities have airport each,
In terms of estates and tourism give it to Enugu state,

I am a Lagosian and I visit Abuja when visit Nigeria on holidays. I left Lagos because it was an extremely busy mega city with people running rat races as early as 4:00 AM and I sat down watching busy people going about their daily routine at 5:00 AM one day and I said that’s it. I need a change of location for a while and I was off. I still enjoy visiting Lagos the city of my birth. I will always love Lagos more than any Nigerian city for unapologetically biased reasons.
I was very impressed with Abuja the first time I saw it before leaving Nigeria. I couldn’t believe that any African country has the capacity, knowledge, capability and the money to plan and develop a capital city fresh from the jungle and actually build it in record time. I grew up with relatives visiting Lagos and cursing it for having all of Nigeria’s money spent on it’s infrastructure and development as they claimed in my childhood. But when I saw Abuja for the first time? I understood what they meant and felt jealous and proud at the same time. Proud that my country built this and jealous of Abuja’s residents. I am also proud that many states of Nigeria has started to develop like a monster in steroids. I traveled a lot across Nigeria in my first visit back home since I left after almost 2 decades in December last year. I saw massive developments everywhere despite the bad governments. I understand that it was the citizens of Nigeria behind most of it all and the governments only played a little part wherever it was possible for them to embezzle our money. African politicians never do anything for free without a motive and they always have a culture of expecting their people to thank them for doing a job that they were paid and bribed to do. I will never understand that. Nigerian leaders are worse in this regard.

I think the most important take away here is your final conclusion, which is we have more in common than what divides us…..However, it is misleading to compare Abuja and Accra. It’s like comparing London and Washington DC, comparing Zurich and Pretoria. Abuja was setup as a seat of power….for government offices etc… just like Benn in Switzerland, and to some extent Washington DC. Like u said Nigeria is big population and large land mass. A lot of industrialisation is spread and business is spread in other major cities -- Kano, Lagos, Rivers etc…. Unlike Ghana were most things seem to be concentrated in Accra

@@toontumnetwork Yes I just finessed watching it and as a Nigerian who grew up with Ghanaians in Lagos and had them as friends abroad, I am sick and tired of these comparisons because it has driven a wedge that would want dah lead to enmity between our brotherly nations if we are not careful in this generations. You just don’t compare a giant with a smaller sibling, it’s disrespectful and Nigerians are better then everyone else in their minds. Nothing can ever change that. They naturally sees these types of videos as attacks even before they watch it. Which is good for the colonisers. Africa must unite and see what united us historically. My family were trading and visiting Ghana centuries before the colonisers divided us into countries. Thank you very much for your quick response.

If you knew what to do, you'd give a brief history of the two cities, not just the established system in them. Abuja was founded just three decade ago. It is still undergoing development at its cradle. For size, compare Nigeria's first and still the economic capital city, Lagos, in terms of industry, public schools etc and come back...

You tried but your analysis is not really the way it should be done. It's like comparing lemon to guava. Accra is both the capital and commercial centre of Ghana. Abuja is the political capital of Nigeria just like Washington DC or Canberra in USA and Australia respectively. It is not and has never been a commercial centre. So there are no basis for comparison. it is like us Nigerians comparing your economy in Ghana to the GDP of Lagos State. That would be insulting. Don't you think? Nigeria do not concentrate all their amenities, education, infrastructures etc in one or two cities. You tried but next time, try and visit the city you want to analyse and feel the place and see for yourself before you go online. Thank you
