  • Macros are scripts in the Office products that automate a multi-step process for you. In this video tutorial, we record a reference that selects cells by 'relative references' - meaning that their exact location doesn't matter, only the position relative to where you started. Neil Malek from Knack Training uses keyboard shortcuts to execute a macro that automatically highlights cells.

    Hi,
I have Excel 2017 in a Mac and can't find the "Use Relative References" button in the ribbon. I've looked it up in different forums, but it appears that the change from relative to absolute has to be done manually. This work is very confusing at times, so I was wondering if you happen to know if there's a way to enable this option again. Thank you

Sorry - it was news to me, so I just read up on it. Sheesh, that's really an awful change between versions.

I have the same issue! I had to edit in Visual Basic. Another feature that Microsoft is keeping from us Mac users :P
