Hi Dru, mixed feelings - want to expand the layout and get rid of the double decker concept but I also know that it’s lots of work ahead to do it. This works for now, just planning ahead as I do things on this one. Did you see part 2? - Steve
When I've done cardboard lattice for scenery base I used a hot glue gun to glue the cardboard strips together and it works great. Layout is looking good.
Hi William, I have used hot glue before. Getting some more of the refills ordered too. I went to break it out the other night and couldn’t find any of the refills. Thanks again for the feedback and tip. - Steve
Great update buddy layout is looking fantastic I love and all the scenery it's kind of pulling everything together. I love the blue cut area that's going to look fantastic might have a little fun trying to reach in there and do some balestine but it looks awesome. Keep up the great work we all know personally how well those ds-64 is are doing, LOL and I remember when I modeled West Colton yard on how many switches I use so I know what you're going through when you're building your yard. All right buddy keep up the great work I'm going to check out part 2
Thanks buddy, appreciate the feedback from you. There will be some hard to reach spots but I’ll probably buy one of those lean over adjustable ladders for the hobby. Let me know what you think of part 2 when you get to it. - Steve
You’re welcome, I hope that helped a lot. If you have more questions, let me know. You can always email me a screenshot of your trackplan and I can tell you if you’re on the money. Thanks again - Steve
@@CajonSub Thanks. I will send some snaps along once you post it. By the way, I am using turnouts that may not be the same as yours. I assume you do use curved turnouts and other 'straight' turnouts, but don't know the details of what they are. Peco, Atlas, NMRA, etc.
@@jwpetr email is SoCalBNSF@gmail.com I’d post when you send them as I don’t check that email as often. I am using Atlas number 7 turnouts on the layout, and the Atlas curved turnouts. All code 55, track is all Atlas too with the exception of the concrete ties and that is Micro Engineering. - Steve
Thanks Steve, my layout is modeled after Cajon Pass which has three tracks in some areas. I have a part 2 of that video showing train a running on the triple tracks. You’re right though, most are just single. Thanks again for the feedback. - Steve
Hi Joe, I haven’t ever done a max pull test up the helix yet but I suppose I should/could. Most trains I run currently up it are about 40-45 cars no problem. My helix is about 2 percent for the four tracks. - Steve
@@CajonSub is that without helpers on the end? I am redoing parts of my layout and want to gauge from others what they can pull with just front ended locos

Nice work and nice update, Steve. Thanks for sharing your progress. ...Roy
Thanks Roy, appreciate the feedback. - Steve
love that big yard and love your collection of rolling stock.
Thanks for the feedback, still have lots of work to do and lots more rolling stock to put on the layout. - Steve
Like your track plan, trains length looks fantastic, keep up the good work
Thank you very much, I still have lots of work to do but it’s slowly coming along. - Steve
Great progress, Steve. You probably can’t wait to move to the new house. 😀 Have a great day. Thanks for sharing.

Curious on the longest train you can run on the layout without helpers on the end up the helix? What is the grade of your helix?
