I found this video invaluable. I needed to throw together an accurate floor plan to do some wifi heat mapping. I've had Sketchup installed for a while but never really used it. Found your video and within an hour had my house measured and my floor plan created in Sketchup. I then exported that to use in my wifi heat mapping software. Thanks! I'll probably watch some of your other videos to expand on my Sketchup skills.
Love to see the ladies getting invvolved with drafting, engineering and tech. Great job!! As a mechanical engineer, i am really impresed with this. I use Sketchup pro all the time but for 3d mechanical parts. But to see it being used for 2d like this, is great. I do not know if this idea will work in 2d, but in 3d it does. If you need to scale an object or wall, you can use the tape tool to measure from one side of a, lets say a block, to the other side, type in the measurement you want, and SU will ask, do you want to resize the entire model. Hit yes, and it will scale everything to that dimension. It works for 3d, not sure about 2d.
I have learned a lot. Very well explained. However orthographic is related to language and spelling. The mode you are on, the one where angles are 90 degrees is called orthogonal.
Hi Dave, this is one of my older tutorials. I think everything you need to know should be in this link: www.designstudentsavvy.com/sketchup-2d-floor-plan-tutorial/
Must be you are a beautiful star. THANKS VERY MUCH FOR HARD WORKING, IT REALLY HELP ME A LOT. I LEARN A LOT AND UNDERSTAND A LOT. ONCE AGAIN THAK YOU!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!

I think it's just semantics. Dictionary.com lists orthogonal as a synonym of orthographic. www.dictionary.com/browse/orthographic-projection
Please include a link to the first steps of how to draw the basic floor plan.

why are you assuming a wall is 5 1/2"? wouldnt it either be 6 1/2 , 4 1/2 or 4 7/8 in most cases
you talk too much
