You get a like for being the only person to react to any part of the vengence trilogy other than oldboy
Thank you, hard to understand why this does get as much focus, great movie
@@KristabelReacts I've wondered this too and wonder if it's because it's more focused on a woman/women/girls
And still the only one, unfortunately
fr
I love the trilogy but man is Lady Vengeance a true masterpiece
And the fact that Eun Joo grandma used her kindergarten scissor which required like crazy amount of strength to pierce someone skins . Such satisfying revenge
it’s all in the detail.. have to rewatch this movie
1:57 this scene actually so iconic in korea. that line is so good and funny but the way they translated this scene ("go screw yourself") is so meh
Kristabel, I think the point of the dog dream scene was a way for Lee Geum-ja to mentally prepare herself for her vengeance. She is seeing this man as being an animal or in this case, a vicious dog to be put down. Of course, all due to what this man did her, those poor children, and the families of each child. All of the actors and actresses did an amazing job in this film.
Very profound. Such a classic beautiful movie ❤️
It's not a South Korean film if it doesn't leave you emotionally exhausted lol. During the playing of the killer's home movies, I think the father who's clearly become an alcoholic hits the worst. His look of agony and the fact that alcohol has only muffled his agony is really heart-breaking. People with reaction channels really should see more of Park Chan-Wook's films. I was also glad to hear some appreciation for Choi Min-Sik! He's also great in I Saw the Devil, with an equally good Lee Byung-Hun.
I will definitely be adding more South Korean movies, I saw the Devil I’d also on my list 👌🏾
Hi! This is my first time watching one of your videos and right away I can tell how smart you are; you picked up on tiny details that I missed on my first viewing of the movie and even opened my eyes to new perspectives that I hadn’t even considered, like when Geum-ja was trying to send her daughter to sleep as if she were still an infant rather than a teenager, since she was only there for the first year of her life until that point (the director is such a genius😭😭😭!!) Your video reminded me how great this movie is, and I’m so sad there aren’t more reactions/reviews :( But I’m really glad I found your channel, I’m definitely subscribing 😄❤️✨
What a lovely feedback, thank you so much. I too I’m surprised that more people haven’t watched this movie, the direction and performances are amazing. Can’t wait to watch the final movie in the trilogy. Thanks for the sub ❤️
I will die on this hill: Sympathy for Lady Vengeance is the most underrated South Korean film of all time!
The handmaiden is the master piece of this director Park. U will really ENJOY the film the Handmaiden. Please make a reaction video of that movie. His best film i should say.
Thanks for the suggestion, I will have my researcher check it out
love your reivew! I recommend watching all his vengeance trilogy. Personally, I think "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance," the first of the trilogy, is the best. It's a movie that gives a more raw feeling and develops in a colder tone. highly recommended.
Thanks YJ, glad you enjoyed it. Definitely going to watch Mr Vengeance, but more raw than the other 2? Damn, I better have tissues and a therapist on standby 😬
I love this movie so much. I just rewatched it after almost 10 years and i appreciate it way more now.
A beautiful masterpiece ❤️
One of my favorite movie. The twist in the ending is insane.
insane but beautifully done 👌🏾
watch 'The Handmaiden'...its also director park's film and for me it was the best film from him
Thanks for the suggestion 👌🏾
Three things:
1) I wonder if Guem-ja showed the videos to the parents as a way of manipulating them into helping her take revenge, the way she did with her ex-cellmates; or whether she realized the parents had just as much right to revenge as she did, but that they needed to experience the pain in full in order to make a decision. I tend to think the latter is true because of how hard she cries throughout that whole last segment, and how she serves them cake at the bakery afterwards and plans to give them back the money from Mr. Baek's account. But it's worth considering. It seems like *everything* she does, even with her cellmates, is done partly out of compassion and partly out of calculation.
2) I think she seduced the bakery boy because he was the same age she'd been when Mr. Baek seduced her and got her pregnant. Maybe that was a bit of revenge by proxy, though with no possibility of pregnancy and little or no harm done to the boy. But then again, the narrator (who turns out to be Jenny - did you notice that?) says Geum-ja was never very particular about having sex with people, so maybe she had dual motives with the boy just as she did with everyone else.
3) In the weeks-later part of your video did you wear red eye shadow on purpose? 😉
I had taken the home movies scene to be proof that the killer is definitely the man she has in another room. So they are certain they are taking revenge on the right person.
I think they would have taken the same action, such an emotional response, I can’t see it ending any other way.
You should also watch the South Korean flicks The Host from 2006 and Memories of Murder from 2003. Both directed by Bong Joon-ho who directed Parasite. In fact you should watch Parasite too if you haven't yet.
Thanks, The Host is on my list.. already watched Parasite though… Mem of Murder… I’ll get my researcher to check 🧐 😉
In this trilogy the bet of the director is that the pain of a character will make you feel sorry for him and then understand the violence he/she will use to get revenge. That's why we/the parents see the tapes of the kids. To make them feel like they can use violence, its justified etc. In the three films Mister Vengeance, Old Boy & Lady Vengeance, its all about having a reason to kill.
All 3 were great films but "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" is my favorite of the Vengeance trilogy.
The director had an interesting vampire movie called "Thirst," about a Priest becoming a vampire and battling is Faith v Thirst. It was good too.
The narrator in the movie is her daughter.
Geum-ja is a name.
But I think that in this movie 'Geum-ja' means 'mommy'.
if you'd like another ugly cry, the first movie in the "vengeance trilogy," sympathy for mr vengeance, breaks my heart almost as much as this one.
will definitely watch, thanks
@@KristabelReacts thank you for reacting to these
The elevator scene with ryu is so beautiful and sweet but so sad
Myself I spent most of the film not having a very good idea what was going on. By the end I pretty much got it and what an unpleasant ending it was. I loved Sympathy for Mr Vengeance. That was a powerful film, great in many ways. This one mostly lost me. I have not seen Oldboy which for some reason is not available on Tubi.
leave the catharsis in there, don't cut it out
love your video!!
So glad! Thank you ☺️
wow 친절한금자씨 good.
Rare movie to get reaction too, well done!
Thanks, quite the masterpiece 👌🏾
Where can i watched this??
Amazon had it but wasn’t free. Definitely value for money though
@@KristabelReacts i already watched it, got my anxiety while watching it👀
Hello, if you're still looking for great Korean movies, the chaser 2008 is a great one.
