Excellent video. I took some notes.
Dummy cording is needed. I am still pissed about a fire steel that fell off my knife sheath when I was a kid. More than a decade ago. So now everything that is needed gets dummy corded. I found a cheap smock on Ebay and I have dummy corded my knife to the d-ring in the pocket. I also just thought I could get a small waterproof bag with a lanyard loop so I can keep my firekit corded as well. Some things are just not worth losing.
I was going to add a small poncho to the back pocket on my smock, but I was using it last night and afte 20 mins of medium rain it soaked through in all the seams and I got wet. Changed over to my belgium gortex I found at my surp store and stayed dry... Ish.
The mix of plastic bags and contractor bags is a great idea. I wish more people knew how handy a ziploc bag can been when you are living out in the woods for more than a day or 2.
If those boots are Jungle boots, then you might be happy to know that Belleville just started making them again. Hefty price, but they are making them again. I wore my desert boots last night because there was a 0% chance of rain. Lucky for me, it decided that 0% wasn't good enough and rained for 7 hours. So lesson learned with boots. Also, wool socks do work for keeping insulation when wet. I could feel my feet being wet, but never got cold.
Thanks again for the vid. I always look forward to your videos.

"The importance of knowing unmapped paths, trails or roads in relatively featureless terrain".... This is brilliant. Deep in the forest, one can't always see landmarks. Seasons change and old trails become overgrown. I've always neglected the use of gps in favor of physical maps, but I may have to change that. I honestly don't mind the Alice gear, it's what I know, and what I'm used to. I even have the belt pad so the clips don't dig into my side. I'm just getting a bit older and anything that helps spread the load out, and is a bit more comfortable is always welcome.
