I am a student and I travel via BMTC daily, The busses get madly crowded and uncomfortable to stand for long hours I personally think there shld be premium busses which has a concept of no STANDING that would promote more people to use busses
Ever since the congress government came about with freebies for women and free bus rides for women, I shifted from BMTC to my personal bike. Because of three reasons 1. Discrimination of men. 2. Overcrowded buses. 3. High risk of being accused of sexual harassment by random woman who have no common sense that in an over crowded bus, accidental touches are impossible to contain.
Bro thats only CGST, SGST is more than enough for such problem. Plus majority northern states are farming economy and we have to subsidise farmers. The only solution is inviting less people into already crowded cities. Whatever you optimize more people means continuous development which also creates traffic. So holding all states accountable for not developing their states industrially and culture wise (e.g. women safety) is equally important as well.
Politicians are using 10 vehicles in front and 10 vehicles back.. Govt employees using government vehicles for personal use.. If u solve this 25% is solved. One more.. no proper asphalted roads..it causes slow traffic movement.
One thing people don't talk about is Bangalore does not have a dedicated ORR, all the traffice from Hyderabad or Chennai needs to go through the city to cross Bangalore. THIS leads to bigger traffic congestions.

You could have discussed on the choked service lanes and unfit vehicles which restrict smooth movement. Also, the licenses assigned to tech parks in the heart of the city instead of outskirts ( which is majorly politically driven )
Yes. that's a good point. Thank you for sharing. Regarding the tech parks - if you look at Bangalore like 15 or 20 years ago, some of these tech parks were actually in the outskirts. As the city grew rapidly, these parts have become integral part of the city. I think Bangalore's development has been in phases instead of a long term planning.
I came to Bangalore in 1987 and in all these years I have used and still use public transport whenever possible. The basic problem with BMTC buses is their unpredictability of services. Ten or more buses on the same route will come at the same time and thereafter their won't be a single bus on the same route for the next 1 hour. I have pointed this out to several BMTC officials but nobody could give me an answer as to why the buses cannot be timed with gaps of 10-15 minutes for each run.For example on bus no 401 which has multiple routes like 401A , 401B etc right upto 401R starting from Yelahanka for 30 minutes you will find one bus after another departing all together . Thereafter for almost 40 minutes there won't be a single bus. Secondly BMTC buses suit only those commuters who travel point to point say Majestic to Jaynagar and if a change is required mid route it becomes very difficult for the commuters. We cannot increase the road space but what prevents the authorities to ensure strict lane discipline and come down heavily on traffic violators ? Hap hazard parking goes unpunished , wrong side entry on no entry roads is common , people driving on the wrong side to avoid a Uturn do so as if it's their fundamental right . All this slows down the traffic but we don't want to address this and then allow an atrocity like the Mall of Asia to block large stretches of road to be blocked by their visitors. Strict traffic management will not remove the traffic congestion but it will help in reducing it.
Last mile connection issue should resolve... Family colonies are inside and reaching from home to nearest bustop takes average 15 to 30 mins by walk... Changing the multiple buses to office commute is not a big problem if the bus freq is high. Introducing a shared auto concept from inside colonies to main road is really helpfull...this improves the last mile connectivity...Take an example of hyderabad,,
Probable solutions - 1. On a national level diversify the tech parks. Make every capital city a major tech hub other than just Delhi Mumbai Kolkata and Chennai. This will pull away the crowd from these 4 big cities. 2. For Bengaluru, i have noticed a lot of trucks running in the city. These add to the already persistent issue of traffic. Heavy trucks shouldn’t be allowed in the city during the day. 3. The ICD can be limited with only a single vehicle per family or the odd even formula though this is a temporary solution only. Another way is to ban vehicles older than 15 years. 4. The metro work should be completed as soon as possible to reopen the chocked up lanes due to construction work. 5. Frequency of Buses and metro trains should be increased. And I really liked the public private partnership idea of yours. Could be implemented with some changes.
Problem with buses is that they stuck in same traffic as cars, so most people dont have much incentive to use buses. Trains are better solution to problem as they dont get stuck in traffic. My father in Mumbai used local for his daily commute which saved almost a hour for him if he would have taken his car.
They should also consider expanding Metro or develope something like Mumbai local. In local 40-50 lakhs people travel daily and there is no problem of traffic. The working crowd is good for the economy of any state. State government should also decentralize the companies to other cities of Karnataka, it will give a chance to develope other cities too.

Congress Government sakthi scheme is also a reason for raising traffic. Overcrowded busses are making most of daily commuters to take private or other commercial transportation.
Not true I was a commuter before and after Shakthi scheme too. Government has increased fleet buying new 900 EV buses for Bengaluru it self. There is no need to misguide just for political reasons.

It is very simple to solve the bangalore traffic 1) along the elevation metro line where ever the signal or junction comes try to construct a flyover along with metro line ( only at the junction or signal point) so that 50% of the congestion will clear 2) Implement the manual mode of signalling during the peak hours atleast ie during the morning time people use to come towards majestic that time people who go out of city side traffic is very less that time because of auto traffic count down the time is getting waste 3) major and top most implementation to be done by government is speed up the suburban and metro projects so that as CSR corporate social responsibility these corporate company has to encourage their staff or order them to come by public transport instant of arranging the cab
Just extend the closure timings of all offices, malls, shops etc from 10:30 to night 1:00 AM, So that major portion of the evening traffic can get diverted to late night
Being a bangalorean i can understand the problem. We need better metro connectivity in the city. BMTC is also helpful. In the end people need to really understand that owning a single car will solve the problem. You don’t need 2-3 cars.
In order to decongest Bangalore. Industry need to move out to tier 2&3 cities. These cities need to be planned in such a way that employees stay near their offices or workplaces.last mile connectivity needs to be improved. Procurement of bus pass id cards need to made user friendly and should be available all through the month. Bmtc already makes passes available with conductors. Issue these passes and id card through the companies.

Free won’t help, however a periodic shuttle services with incentivised ticket prices from key office locations to the residential area or near by metros will reduce the usage of cars. Safety of employees at later evenings (drop times) will have to be considered while increasing such public mode of transportation too.

First BMTC employees must treat passengers in good rash behaviour must not be. 2.They should stop buses exactly in bus bay provided without stopping on middle of the road I find many BMTC and other also stoping where they want without following traffic rules. 3. Police are operating signals manually without analysing traffic They should upgrade to traffic sensing signal system where it sense traffic. 4. Proper u turns are not planned due to that people are blocking total road. See hyderabad people talking u turn they divide with dividers 5. BMTC Misses out on the Last Mile connectivity. Say a person staying in Domlur has to travel to Manyata Tech Park, then they need to walk from home to bus stop, then from Marathalli Bridge to the next Bus stop, which is a long walk and then wait for Bus, which is usually crowded during peak hours. Thus a corporate employee would opt for a 2 wheeler minimum of a low end Car. Then Uber, etc are damn expensive. On the road we have free for all road. During peak hours you could find every vehicle on Bangalore roads, chocking the road. Slow moving tractor, bullock cart, who knows even Aeroplanes
Yes. You have rightly pointed out the problem. So many autos, two wheelers, taxis, school bus or big lorrys are parked on one side of the road leaving only one or one and half line for vehicle movement. Now days I sees, police are standing or sitting on their bikes near signal and watching videos on mobile, what it takes for them to go on their bikes and make sure the roads are not parked with vehicles. This alone will solve big problem of traffic.
Make car parking with higher charges, make driving cars expensive like Amsterdam. Then make exclusive bus lanes or trans connecting all major roads with big cycle lanes and cycle paking slots.
I have been a Bangalore native for long. Let me tell you the main problem causing traffic buildups. Parking/halting of vehicles on arterial roads. This is what is causing back pressure to build and the ripple effect is a huge slow down behind. Police don't want to talk about it because it will become their problem to monitor this and it will hit their monthly collections from businessses. Make all arterial roads no-halt zones and get police on 2 wheelers to patrol all the time and impose hefty fines and this problem will be resolved in no time.
I have lived in Mumbai, Delhi, & Bangalore. The only place in India where a corporate employee can even 'think' about riding bus to office is Mumbai. Delhi Metro is also feasible to an extent but last mile connectivity is still a hassle. As for Bangalore, the roads. My God they are pathetic, leave apart riding in a bus, I will shudder if I need to drive an SUV on those roads. Maybe once Namma Bengaluru metro is ready in its full form, things will be better.
I was traveling by BUS to Whitefield, my mobile and laptop got stolen in BMTC Bus . That's why I don't travel by bus anymore. BMTC buses are shit often heavily crowded , no space to get in at all and theft concerns as well. Conductors don't give the money back . You have to go and ask for continuously for them to give back the change.
I am in Hyderabad now. Previously, I was in Bengaluru for 6 years. What I saw the difference 1. Hyderabad is having great infrastructure. Wide roads, long bridges, underpass, less crossroad and more U turns. 2. Future planning. They have already developed roads and infrastructures in the area where future companies and residential will be there like Tellapur, Kokapet, Gopanpally. 3. Separate area for corporate. In Hyderabad, Hi Tech city, Madhapur and Finance City means Corporate area. They call this area as Cybarabad. There is less relation between Old city and Cybarabad. In Bengaluru, it is not the case. Corporate companies are in every direction. One side Manyata Tech park, other side is Electronic city, Another side is for Whitefield. Some companies are in Koramangala, HSR, JP Nagar, Dairy circle. 4. More Flats and Residential options near Corporate area. More people can stay in less area in the flats.
Wipro should move there company to singasandra,siemens should move to garebavipalya, separate all the IT companies to different locations automatically traffic will be reduced.

I love to take the bus whenever possible. Another problem you didn't speak about is cash issues. In today's scenario cash is passe. There should be a cashless option like UPI acceptability on all buses not just the airport ones. This will encourage the younger crowds to adapt to the change.
Boy it's simple, put the price of petrol and diesel cars to a cost of Rs 1000/- only for Bangalore City mains except outskirts, automatically the cars on roads will decrease and only the people in rural Bangalore will pull cars at that time. For these people, the petrol feels cheap. But once this gets to say Rs 100 for a petrol then these people will stop using cars and stop buying cars altogether. They will be forced to use public transport on a frequent basis and we can see free roads in Bangalore.

the biggest issues is as listed below 1. Poor traffic management 2. Unnecessary and unplanned traffic signals 3. No respect for traffic rules / rash driving 4. A challenge I find with using BMTC is that there is no convenient way to find bus routes, bus stops, change points etc to get from one point to another. If a convenient comprehensive app or website that enables a user to navigate public transport (Buses, EMU and Metro) easily is made available, the usage would definitely improve. No one would want to take out a car in the chaotic Bengaluru traffic if s/he is able to plan his/her journey conveniently trough public transport. The uncertainty of public transport is a huge deterrent. The app should be able to suggest the best and most convenient route combining BMTC buses, EMUs and Namma Metro. It should also be AI based and indicate real-time updates on actual running timings of varous public transport mediums and also provide navigation to the nearest bus-stop, railway station/metro station.
1. Big flats/ association should provide shuttle service to nearest bus / metro points 2. Companies in industrial area/ IT hub, should run- private/state partnership buses. 3.dedicated Bus lane. All the people will start using, if it's fast and comfortable 3. Increase the road registration taxes for car. So that people start using public transport.

Yes , your suggestion of free bus to all is good suggestiib. Even i am of the same opinion. This will reduce traffic problems. Poluution can be reduced. Govt can meet the BMTC expenditure. It is not a loss for the govt if total taxes govt is collecting from all sources taken into account.
As you mention All big companies/tech parks should tie up with bmtc (and employers pay atleast 50% for travelling), at the same time, charge for car/bike parking. This will encourage ppl to take buses.

There is another major problem , 99% of the people are always driving/riding their vehicles in URGENT MODE. 24x7 Honking on the roads ,even though it could be completely avoided. there are really really bad drivers on the road who dont know shit about traffic rules. Cant you wait for 5 more seconds for the other person to pass ? Why is every single person behaving like they need to catch a flight ? I see so many accidents on the road could be avoided, if you just wait for 2 seconds and look around before racing your vehicle into the bumper of the next vehicle. just have some patience and follow some basic rules, and your headache will reduce.
I lost my phone while going to office in bmtc bus. Also someone tried to steal my laptop but i was fortunate enough. Thats when i decided to buy own two wheeler. Traveling in bus is very risky. Aslo it saves time and you can reach quicker compared to cars. What government can do is make some days when cars should be avoided. This is for office goers only.
It has become very risky after the freebies to women. Buses are over crowded and lots of women are travelling for no reason. Criminals are having a good time. Maintenance of buses is very poor.
People not taking public transport is probably the last mile connectivity e.g. if a person has to walk 2 KMs to board a bus and another 1 KM to reach office, that's when people consider taking their own personal vehicle(s). Also major challenge arise during rains where water logging might become another hurdle to reach bus-stop even if it's 500m
Great video. Government, BMTC, BBMP and private companies have to come together and make some serious plans. There must be some serious steps that have to be taken like not allowing private cars for certain days of the week to commute to the office. This should be done phase wise. There should be vision and slowly work towards it the way be did during pandemic and vaccinated so many people even though it was looking impossible.

Build parallel roads to all main roads so that there is more than one route to reach destination. This might involve road widening and relocating some existing buildings on these parallel roads. Also intersecting roads in grid fashion are needed. We have this kind of infrastructure in some planned areas of Bangalore.

Earlier I used to travel with BMTC bus but one day i was travelling back from my office to my home, unfortunately I don't had change cash that day but still I catch the bus, i gave 500 note to driver but he told he don't have change and ask me to leave the bus. He stopped the driver and make me to leave the bus. I feel very bad that day. I also asked him for if he has UPI QR code, I can pay him. So after that incident I am travelling from auto or bike taxi.

The main reason for this massive traffic jams every day is because people are migrating from all over India to bangalore. I was born and brought up in bangalore. 30 years back bangalore was a small queit city. After 2000 many IT companies set up their offices in bangalore and people began to migrate here. Now the govt is only doing alteration work to a supposedly small city which will serve no purpose. The only viable alternative is to build satellite towns far away bangalore and shift the IT companies.
Main problem is IT companies sending employees in innova and other sedans instead of office buses...... almost 500 cabs per techpark perday at 5 pm in the evening is choking the ORR.
1) Present solution is leasing buses or cabs by office for dropping or picking employees during odd hours. 2)Encourge public to use metro service. Select few important metro station for public road transport like e rickshaw and e buses. 3) Increase parking fees which will encourage public to use public transport.

Why all companies need to be in and around Marathalli.. There is fine space available towards Hoskote.. government can expand upto hoskote and bring in some space that will help decongest amd club hoakote into Bangalore and extend metro to hoskote

Exclusive luxruy buses for the IT Parks & IT companies... Govt should make this compulsory to IT Parks .....IT Parks should allow private vehicles just 2 days a week to start with n then ban completely after few months... This way govt can generate revenue for BMTC and can solve traffic problems...
I used to travel by bmtc bus G9 route around 7 years ago from yelahanka to mg road , the service was extremely bad , they need to improve the frequency plus maintain the buses in good condition, after using G9 for a few months I started using my 2 wheeler, anyway that was 7 years ago , hopefully with metro connextivity after 3 years situation will improve.
Lot of one-way roads makes fuel consumption more the fact of the matter is there are lot of army lands inside the city which blocks major connection if some of the lands given in outer of city things may change

Even if BMTC was free for all, it won't really make a noticeable difference on traffic, there's just too many people on the road and more being born every minute. You need to build subway underground , it's too crowded on the surface.
Subway/underground is more expensive. Nitin Gadkari had mentioned in an interview about using the sky with electric transport like cable cars, or 3 layered flyovers etc. DK Shivakumar had mentioned about both underground or flyovers options. Either underground or flyovers is a bit chaotic to the city operations that is why Metro is taking forever to complete. The govt has met so many experts, not sure why they haven't revealed the real plan yet.
Many are very happy to travel piblic transport, but there is an issue of last mile and first mile connectivity where people have to depend on auto, and you know issue with auto, they charge himongous from our home to nearest station even, service sutos should be available. Further no parallel roads for main roads, so all traffic has to reach main road leading to congestion, unlike Hyderabad, where the road planning is very good.
Fix the time for school busses,BMTC busses stops in busstops, but for school busses every house is a stop. They don't bother the traffic behind or Ambulance siren too. Reduce the size of BMTC busses in narrow roads. IN THE ROADS LIKE TC palya road, Ramamoorthinagar Road many of the time HUGE 80 seat bus goes empty and it occupies almost 75% of the road width. Situation gets horrible when these busses breakdown in the middle of these roads. Instead sending a lesser width two busses with reduced time gap is lot better. Don't allow L board people on roads. Saturday and Sunday traffic is only due to this. Many people don't know how and where to park. Moreover they drive horribly bad on the roads too. Make some arrangements auto rickshaws. Fine the people who use one large car for one fellow. Stamp a barcode near fuel tank, charge double cost for luxury cars during registration itself. (which costs more than 40L) if a person can buy such a huge car to disturb the traffic by sitting comfortably inside car with AC on road, he should pay more. So that he may use less. Many people use the road for their daily duties and these duties will have time constraints. But most of the people doesn't understand.
Public transport here in Bangalore is very bad well i mean Bangalore have expanded very rapidly however public transport haven't as a result people have to buy own transport. Also limited frequency of buses. Route rationalisation to be undertaken.
Its a catch 22 situation, right now the experience in traveling in a bus is horrible because of the traffic but unless you travel by Bus the traffic will not reduce
Free is never a solution, better option is to issue a subsidised pass and premium pass where the last mile connectivity is also covered. If home to office connectivity is not solved dependency on own vehicles will remain. One more thing that can be done is to issue permit to buy a personal vehicle, issue it only if the person work demands personal vehicle.

As the city grew rapidly, these parts have become integral part of the city. I think Bangalore's development has been in phases instead of a long term planning.

I came to Bangalore in 1987 and in all these years I have used and still use public transport whenever possible. The basic problem with BMTC buses is their unpredictability of services. Ten or more buses on the same route will come at the same time and thereafter their won't be a single bus on the same route for the next 1 hour. I have pointed this out to several BMTC officials but nobody could give me an answer as to why the buses cannot be timed with gaps of 10-15 minutes for each run.For example on bus no 401 which has multiple routes like 401A , 401B etc right upto 401R starting from Yelahanka for 30 minutes you will find one bus after another departing all together . Thereafter for almost 40 minutes there won't be a single bus. Secondly BMTC buses suit only those commuters who travel point to point say Majestic to Jaynagar and if a change is required mid route it becomes very difficult for the commuters.
We cannot increase the road space but what prevents the authorities to ensure strict lane discipline and come down heavily on traffic violators ? Hap hazard parking goes unpunished , wrong side entry on no entry roads is common , people driving on the wrong side to avoid a Uturn do so as if it's their fundamental right . All this slows down the traffic but we don't want to address this and then allow an atrocity like the Mall of Asia to block large stretches of road to be blocked by their visitors. Strict traffic management will not remove the traffic congestion but it will help in reducing it.
Last mile connection issue should resolve... Family colonies are inside and reaching from home to nearest bustop takes average 15 to 30 mins by walk... Changing the multiple buses to office commute is not a big problem if the bus freq is high.
Introducing a shared auto concept from inside colonies to main road is really helpfull...this improves the last mile connectivity...Take an example of hyderabad,,

1. On a national level diversify the tech parks.
Make every capital city a major tech hub other than just Delhi Mumbai Kolkata and Chennai. This will pull away the crowd from these 4 big cities.
2. For Bengaluru, i have noticed a lot of trucks running in the city. These add to the already persistent issue of traffic. Heavy trucks shouldn’t be allowed in the city during the day.
3. The ICD can be limited with only a single vehicle per family or the odd even formula though this is a temporary solution only. Another way is to ban vehicles older than 15 years.
4. The metro work should be completed as soon as possible to reopen the chocked up lanes due to construction work.
5. Frequency of Buses and metro trains should be increased. And I really liked the public private partnership idea of yours. Could be implemented with some changes.
Problem with buses is that they stuck in same traffic as cars, so most people dont have much incentive to use buses. Trains are better solution to problem as they dont get stuck in traffic. My father in Mumbai used local for his daily commute which saved almost a hour for him if he would have taken his car.
They should also consider expanding Metro or develope something like Mumbai local. In local 40-50 lakhs people travel daily and there is no problem of traffic. The working crowd is good for the economy of any state. State government should also decentralize the companies to other cities of Karnataka, it will give a chance to develope other cities too.

1) along the elevation metro line where ever the signal or junction comes try to construct a flyover along with metro line ( only at the junction or signal point) so that 50% of the congestion will clear

Being a bangalorean i can understand the problem. We need better metro connectivity in the city. BMTC is also helpful. In the end people need to really understand that owning a single car will solve the problem. You don’t need 2-3 cars.
In order to decongest Bangalore. Industry need to move out to tier 2&3 cities. These cities need to be planned in such a way that employees stay near their offices or workplaces.last mile connectivity needs to be improved. Procurement of bus pass id cards need to made user friendly and should be available all through the month. Bmtc already makes passes available with conductors. Issue these passes and id card through the companies.

Free won’t help, however a periodic shuttle services with incentivised ticket prices from key office locations to the residential area or near by metros will reduce the usage of cars. Safety of employees at later evenings (drop times) will have to be considered while increasing such public mode of transportation too.

BMTC Misses out on the Last Mile connectivity. Say a person staying in Domlur has to travel to Manyata Tech Park, then they need to walk from home to bus stop, then from Marathalli Bridge to the next Bus stop, which is a long walk and then wait for Bus, which is usually crowded during peak hours. Thus a corporate employee would opt for a 2 wheeler minimum of a low end Car.

I have been a Bangalore native for long. Let me tell you the main problem causing traffic buildups. Parking/halting of vehicles on arterial roads. This is what is causing back pressure to build and the ripple effect is a huge slow down behind. Police don't want to talk about it because it will become their problem to monitor this and it will hit their monthly collections from businessses. Make all arterial roads no-halt zones and get police on 2 wheelers to patrol all the time and impose hefty fines and this problem will be resolved in no time.
I have lived in Mumbai, Delhi, & Bangalore. The only place in India where a corporate employee can even 'think' about riding bus to office is Mumbai. Delhi Metro is also feasible to an extent but last mile connectivity is still a hassle. As for Bangalore, the roads. My God they are pathetic, leave apart riding in a bus, I will shudder if I need to drive an SUV on those roads. Maybe once Namma Bengaluru metro is ready in its full form, things will be better.

I was traveling by BUS to Whitefield, my mobile and laptop got stolen in BMTC Bus . That's why I don't travel by bus anymore. BMTC buses are shit often heavily crowded , no space to get in at all and theft concerns as well.

I am in Hyderabad now. Previously, I was in Bengaluru for 6 years. What I saw the difference
1. Hyderabad is having great infrastructure. Wide roads, long bridges, underpass, less crossroad and more U turns.
2. Future planning. They have already developed roads and infrastructures in the area where future companies and residential will be there like Tellapur, Kokapet, Gopanpally.
3. Separate area for corporate. In Hyderabad, Hi Tech city, Madhapur and Finance City means Corporate area. They call this area as Cybarabad. There is less relation between Old city and Cybarabad. In Bengaluru, it is not the case. Corporate companies are in every direction. One side Manyata Tech park, other side is Electronic city, Another side is for Whitefield. Some companies are in Koramangala, HSR, JP Nagar, Dairy circle.
4. More Flats and Residential options near Corporate area. More people can stay in less area in the flats.

I love to take the bus whenever possible. Another problem you didn't speak about is cash issues. In today's scenario cash is passe. There should be a cashless option like UPI acceptability on all buses not just the airport ones. This will encourage the younger crowds to adapt to the change.

Boy it's simple, put the price of petrol and diesel cars to a cost of Rs 1000/- only for Bangalore City mains except outskirts, automatically the cars on roads will decrease and only the people in rural Bangalore will pull cars at that time. For these people, the petrol feels cheap. But once this gets to say Rs 100 for a petrol then these people will stop using cars and stop buying cars altogether. They will be forced to use public transport on a frequent basis and we can see free roads in Bangalore.

A challenge I find with using BMTC is that there is no convenient way to find bus routes, bus stops, change points etc to get from one point to another.
If a convenient comprehensive app or website that enables a user to navigate public transport (Buses, EMU and Metro) easily is made available, the usage would definitely improve. No one would want to take out a car in the chaotic Bengaluru traffic if s/he is able to plan his/her journey conveniently trough public transport.
The uncertainty of public transport is a huge deterrent.
The app should be able to suggest the best and most convenient route combining BMTC buses, EMUs and Namma Metro. It should also be AI based and indicate real-time updates on actual running timings of varous public transport mediums and also provide navigation to the nearest bus-stop, railway station/metro station.

I agree with all of your points. There is another major problem , 99% of the people are always driving/riding their vehicles in URGENT MODE. 24x7 Honking on the roads ,even though it could be completely avoided. there are really really bad drivers on the road who dont know shit about traffic rules.

I lost my phone while going to office in bmtc bus. Also someone tried to steal my laptop but i was fortunate enough. Thats when i decided to buy own two wheeler. Traveling in bus is very risky. Aslo it saves time and you can reach quicker compared to cars. What government can do is make some days when cars should be avoided. This is for office goers only.
It has become very risky after the freebies to women. Buses are over crowded and lots of women are travelling for no reason. Criminals are having a good time. Maintenance of buses is very poor.
People not taking public transport is probably the last mile connectivity e.g. if a person has to walk 2 KMs to board a bus and another 1 KM to reach office, that's when people consider taking their own personal vehicle(s). Also major challenge arise during rains where water logging might become another hurdle to reach bus-stop even if it's 500m
Great video. Government, BMTC, BBMP and private companies have to come together and make some serious plans. There must be some serious steps that have to be taken like not allowing private cars for certain days of the week to commute to the office. This should be done phase wise. There should be vision and slowly work towards it the way be did during pandemic and vaccinated so many people even though it was looking impossible.

Build parallel roads to all main roads so that there is more than one route to reach destination. This might involve road widening and relocating some existing buildings on these parallel roads. Also intersecting roads in grid fashion are needed. We have this kind of infrastructure in some planned areas of Bangalore.

Earlier I used to travel with BMTC bus but one day i was travelling back from my office to my home, unfortunately I don't had change cash that day but still I catch the bus, i gave 500 note to driver but he told he don't have change and ask me to leave the bus. He stopped the driver and make me to leave the bus. I feel very bad that day. I also asked him for if he has UPI QR code, I can pay him. So after that incident I am travelling from auto or bike taxi.

The best solution for namma Bengaluru city traffic congestion is the metro projects have to be completed in time the more rapid transport system we have the traffic congestion will automatically reduce we can't just keep expanding the roads it is simple common sense the more roads you expand the volume of the traffic will keep rising now if all the metro lines are opened it will give a lot of relief to the entire citizens of the city
The main reason for this massive traffic jams every day is because people are migrating from all over India to bangalore. I was born and brought up in bangalore. 30 years back bangalore was a small queit city. After 2000 many IT companies set up their offices in bangalore and people began to migrate here. Now the govt is only doing alteration work to a supposedly small city which will serve no purpose. The only viable alternative is to build satellite towns far away bangalore and shift the IT companies.
Main problem is IT companies sending employees in innova and other sedans instead of office buses...... almost 500 cabs per techpark perday at 5 pm in the evening is choking the ORR.
Beyond Bengaluru is the only solution 😊
1) Present solution is leasing buses or cabs by office for dropping or picking employees during odd hours.
2)Encourge public to use metro service. Select few important metro station for public road transport like e rickshaw and e buses.
3) Increase parking fees which will encourage public to use public transport.
Metro is already well utilised
Next focus should be on extending lines and push resident by rewarding to use public transport and or increasing cost owning cars,
Taxi services also be considered..

Make pheriperial ring roads ,alsoake good connectivity roads to ring road .
All villages entrance road fix it to minimum 100 feet roads and widen it .
Bring sime policy and do it
1) all villages main entrance roads should be 100 feet
2)main road commercil site owners should leave minimum 10 feet for loading inloading . Which will not disturb the main road
3) outer peripheral ring roads for every 5 kms of 300 feet width
4) new companies should be given licence at out skirts ,since already connectivity issues planned ,
5)no vertical building licences for above 4 floors inside the city ,ie,inside the core 10kms ,also no licence for above 6 floors inside the 15 kms range .
6) metro at every part of the city
7) foot paths sbould be free from commercial enroachments .

Why all companies need to be in and around Marathalli.. There is fine space available towards Hoskote.. government can expand upto hoskote and bring in some space that will help decongest amd club hoakote into Bangalore and extend metro to hoskote
How did these BMTC come to my home, where the roads are 15-20 feet road. The first mistake is the layout. There is no main road. You call it a 20 foot road as the main road

no nees of new rules , just need to strictly follow the present traffic rules
Exclusive luxruy buses for the IT Parks & IT companies... Govt should make this compulsory to IT Parks .....IT Parks should allow private vehicles just 2 days a week to start with n then ban completely after few months... This way govt can generate revenue for BMTC and can solve traffic problems...
I used to travel by bmtc bus G9 route around 7 years ago from yelahanka to mg road , the service was extremely bad , they need to improve the frequency plus maintain the buses in good condition, after using G9 for a few months I started using my 2 wheeler, anyway that was 7 years ago , hopefully with metro connextivity after 3 years situation will improve.
Lot of one-way roads makes fuel consumption more the fact of the matter is there are lot of army lands inside the city which blocks major connection if some of the lands given in outer of city things may change

Reserve seats for gents. Then some people may show some intrest to go in busses. Or else only free seats occupie whole bus, including their reserved seats.

1 On one Hand Citizens are Advised to make use of the Public transport by the Authorities and Government.
2 Maybe On the Other hand There is very Big Lobby going on in Our Backyard for which Car Makers Two wheeler mfrs and Banks who lend Money for Citizens They have collaborated parellelly with Whichever Govt Central or State and are persuading Citizens to Impulsively or Emotionally get trapped in buying Vehicles.
Actually speaking they will be the last person to encourage people to use public transport.

So even if Citizens assuming that they are convinced and start using Metros or Buses as means of Transport.
Who is going to buy 2 wheelers or cars and who is going to borrow money from banks.
Since if people use private vehicles sparingly then they will not change to new Vehicles frequently.

Even if BMTC was free for all, it won't really make a noticeable difference on traffic, there's just too many people on the road and more being born every minute. You need to build subway underground , it's too crowded on the surface.
Subway/underground is more expensive. Nitin Gadkari had mentioned in an interview about using the sky with electric transport like cable cars, or 3 layered flyovers etc. DK Shivakumar had mentioned about both underground or flyovers options. Either underground or flyovers is a bit chaotic to the city operations that is why Metro is taking forever to complete. The govt has met so many experts, not sure why they haven't revealed the real plan yet.
True. Free buses for women has become a disaster for all. Over crowded buses, poor maintenance of buses, higher taxes, discrimination of men.
Many are very happy to travel piblic transport, but there is an issue of last mile and first mile connectivity where people have to depend on auto, and you know issue with auto, they charge himongous from our home to nearest station even, service sutos should be available.
Further no parallel roads for main roads, so all traffic has to reach main road leading to congestion, unlike Hyderabad, where the road planning is very good.
Fix the time for school busses,BMTC busses stops in busstops, but for school busses every house is a stop. They don't bother the traffic behind or Ambulance siren too.
Reduce the size of BMTC busses in narrow roads. IN THE ROADS LIKE TC palya road, Ramamoorthinagar Road many of the time HUGE 80 seat bus goes empty and it occupies almost 75% of the road width. Situation gets horrible when these busses breakdown in the middle of these roads. Instead sending a lesser width two busses with reduced time gap is lot better.
Don't allow L board people on roads. Saturday and Sunday traffic is only due to this. Many people don't know how and where to park. Moreover they drive horribly bad on the roads too.

Stamp a barcode near fuel tank, charge double cost for luxury cars during registration itself. (which costs more than 40L) if a person can buy such a huge car to disturb the traffic by sitting comfortably inside car with AC on road, he should pay more. So that he may use less. Many people use the road for their daily duties and these duties will have time constraints. But most of the people doesn't understand.
Public transport here in Bangalore is very bad well i mean Bangalore have expanded very rapidly however public transport haven't as a result people have to buy own transport. Also limited frequency of buses. Route rationalisation to be undertaken.
Move IT companies to tier 2 and Tier 3 cities so that inflow will reduce ..
ICD is not looking for free tickets. Bring in more low-floor AC buses. And digital payments on the Bus (UPI/cards).
Its a catch 22 situation, right now the experience in traveling in a bus is horrible because of the traffic but unless you travel by Bus the traffic will not reduce
Free is never a solution, better option is to issue a subsidised pass and premium pass where the last mile connectivity is also covered. If home to office connectivity is not solved dependency on own vehicles will remain.
One more thing that can be done is to issue permit to buy a personal vehicle, issue it only if the person work demands personal vehicle.
