She always reminded me of my grandmother with the short red hair. lol. We both saw Victor/Victoria in person in 1995. I believe my grandmother was a couple years older, but they were definitely contemporaries. May they both be blessed.
I love Julie Andrew’s so much. She is amazing. She’s definitely a staple in my childhood and kind of life in a way. It is so sad to see her aging with time and to think soon she’ll be gone. She’s such a treasure to have on earth.

Seriously the great coloraturas of our time. But she has done SO Much more than the Sound of Music. Her incredible concerts are really something.
Dame Julie is putting years on herself. She was 28 when she shot Sound of Music, not 31. She was born in October 1935. The film was shot March-Sept 1964. She turned 29 a month after filming ended. She was still 29 when it was released in Spring 1965. Most actresses lop 5 years off! Do listen to her AFI speech, it’s the definition of perfection, genuine modesty and gratitude and a masterclass on how to speak in public. And a masterclass in perfect diction, of course.
I stumbled upon this and I was very impressed. I don't know why bc Julie Andrews is Julie Andrews for a reason. In addition to being a great star she is a lovely person. It comes across here.
She's one of those few remaining real real Hollywood icons. There's only a couple left

The Sound of Music was released In March of 1965. Julie turned 30 in October of that year, so she was 29 when it was released and 28 when they were shooting. Funny she says 31.
