Come home to Rome Cyprian of Carthage, Bishop: If someone [today] does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that he still holds the faith? I was an athiest 2 years ago, the bible made me Catholic. There's no denying it is a Catholic collection of books, anything other than accepting the truth is embracing a lie.
The Bible is only Protestant if you stick with the handful of verses they like and ignore the whole rest of it like they do. (Sometimes I wonder if Protestants even realize any other scriptures besides Ephesians 2:8-9 exist.)
My wife and I are both in RCIA this year. You both have played a part in this. Thanks so much. I hope some day I may be able to do apologetics like you guys. God Bless
@yakotako717 Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. It's the Catholic Church's way of teaching converts everything they need to know about the faith. It generally runs from September to Easter, once a week. At the end, if you want to and the Church feels you're ready, you'll be baptized and confirmed into the Church.
At my church in Kansas a priest is in the confessional from before mass up until the sacrifice of the mass. It's wonderful. There is always a line down both sides of the church of people waiting for confession. There are 4 masses on Sunday and they are all like this. You can also go everyday at 2 different times. I love how available it is bc it's such an important sacrament.
It's great that there's a priest in the confessional, basically all morning on Sundays, however I would recommend going to confession the mass BEFORE the one you plan to actually attend so that you can full participate. Participation in the Liturgy is just as important as receiving the Eucharist

@_ROMANS_116 that question isn't as clear cut as you seem to think it is. However, if we're going by the Bible, you need: Faith (Ephesians 2:8) Baptism (Mark 16:16) Corporal Works of Mercy (Matthew 25:31-46) Good works (James 2:14-26) Receive the Eucharist (John 6:53) According to Jesus and the Apostles, all of these things are necessary for salvation. You can't have eternal life without them. However, the Father reserves the right to save anyone at any time for any reason He pleases (Exodus 33:19; Romans 9:15), so God can choose to save anyone without these Biblical requirements. But according to the Bible, what I listed is the normal means of attaining salvation

@GOSpelMAN-j4n 😂"even now make sacraments part of salvation." We ALWAYS have. So did Martin Luther and many other Protestant reformers. Where does the Bible say, "You don't need to be baptized" or "Baptism doesn't save?" There's not a single verse in the Bible that says baptism isn't necessary for salvation. And like you said, Eph. 2:8-10 isn't concerned with sacraments. That's right, it doesn't say that the sacraments aren't necessary for salvation. Nowhere does it suggest that faith is opposed to sacraments.

@GOSpelMAN-j4n I'm not going to be "corrected" by someone who can't do basic research. RUclips isn't letting me share links, but you can look up Luther's own catechisms and writings to see he definitely thought baptism was necessary for salvation. It's like you're assuming you know everything you need to about Luther based on one phrase he coined.
@GOSpelMAN-j4n Fine, continue telling me you know more about what I believe than I do, and keep remaining puffed up with your, "I don't need facts and logic when I have the Holy Spirit" arrogance. Keep telling me that a simple logical reading of biblical texts can't correctly interpret them because the Holy Spirit somehow imbues people with alternative logic (sounds like Gnosticism to me). And for your information, St. Paul never defined what the Gospel is in Gal. 1:8-12. All he said was that he had been preaching the Gospel (which he does not define in this passage).
@GOSpelMAN-j4n What's my Gospel? Per 1 Corinthians 15 (and I think the Acts 2 sermon lends itself as well even if it doesn't use the word), it's that Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead, and now reigns as king of the universe. Where do Catholics and Protestants disagree on this?

What a nice five-hundred-year debate. Catholics have been bitter about Martin Luther for five hundred years now Jack Chick has been installed into the Catholic Martin Luther Hall of Hatred. I believe in God-ordained denominations. They are good for different people. Let's concentrate on what unites us. I always say I'm a lowercase C catholic which means I believe in the doctrine of the universal body of Christ. We can all be soul-winners for Christ instead of arguing about who's the true church. But Catholics are so exclusive, that they hardly consider Eastern Orthodox Christians in the right standing. Forget the rest of the denominations. Just get busy winning souls for Christ, instead of continuing in your five-hundred-year-old squabble. Martin Luther is dead and so is Jack Chick. Get busy working for Christ. Here's a scripture where Paul the Apostle is talking about denominations in his day. Philippians 1:18 "What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice."
I want to really side with you on the winning souls part but do you think Martin Luther and Jack Chick is dead?? Do you know how long we Catholics have had to battle with their ideologies. The fact that publications like this still exist is prove that these guys aren't dead at all... thier legacies live on...
@@jeneric As I said, I'm a lowercase C catholic not really of a Catholic denomination. That's means I believe in the doctrine of the universal church, the body of Christ. You probably don't think of me as a Christian. To me, even though you may not believe in eternal security. As long as you believe in the Nicaean creed or the ten cardinal doctrines, you're a Christian. Eternal security is not a cardinal doctrine. Therefore, I would fellowship with you and win souls with you too. As well as any other Christian, Baptists, Evangelicals, Lutherans, Pentacostal Charismatics, Saint Thomas church, Copts, Orthodox, etc. I don't care. @GratefulFromTexas On your last statement, no. Old Testament has been around long before the New Testament Church. The New Testament mostly consists of the Apostle Paul's letters, then John, Peter, James, Jude, etc. Believers had all of these writings since the first century.
Do these people assume that they must deny scripture? Maybe they just don't care to read it. NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY WE ARE TO CONFESS TO JESUS! REALLY? ARE THEY REALLY SAYING THAT'S NOT IN THE BIBLE? .. 1 John 1:7,9 [7]But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. [9]If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Is it not Jesus that forgives sins? Then you confess to Him. It does not name anyone else.
“When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”” John 20:22-23
These people think that water has the power to take away sins. That's not in the Bible i tead. Just sayin. Circumcision was a sign of covenant. It was not salvation. Salvation is and was by faith. God way doesn't change over time.
@@caseycardenas1668 Jesus is talking about the water that is the Spirit, not baptism. Yes
The best way to honor God/Jesus to mention his name above every other names.
Acts 4:
12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Philippians 2:9
Therefore God has highly exalted HIM and bestowed on HIM the name that is above every name

17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which HE has called you, what are the riches of HIS glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of HIS power toward us who believe, according to the working of HIS great might 20 that he worked in CHRIST when he raised HIM from the dead and seated HIM at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under HIS feet.

Philippians 1:18
"What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice."
I want to really side with you on the winning souls part but do you think Martin Luther and Jack Chick is dead??
Do you know how long we Catholics have had to battle with their ideologies. The fact that publications like this still exist is prove that these guys aren't dead at all... thier legacies live on...
For the most part of it, Catholics have been pulling their punches, and you call what these guys are doing bitterness??
That's laughable.
We're brothers in Christ Jesus our LORD and Savior.

@GratefulFromTexas
What gospel is that?
@GratefulFromTexas
On your last statement, no.
REALLY? ARE THEY REALLY SAYING THAT'S NOT IN THE BIBLE? ..
1 John 1:7,9
[7]But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.””
John 20:22-23
@@Ruudes1483 Exactly, brother. Do people really think the Apostles forgave people's sins without hearing their confession?
These people think that water has the power to take away sins.
That's not in the Bible i tead.
Just sayin.
Circumcision was a sign of covenant. It was not salvation.
Salvation is and was by faith. God way doesn't change over time.
John 3:5
@@caseycardenas1668 Jesus is talking about the water that is the Spirit, not baptism. It is the same thing in ch 4:10,
John 4:10
[10]Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
What is the "living water"? It is the Holy Spirit, not baptism.
Then again in Ch 7...
John 7:38
[38]He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
What is this "living water"?
Answer...
John 7:39
[39](But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
St. John is concerned about teaching us about the Holy Spirit, not baptism.
Guys "do Penance" does not mean "repent" that was an old mistranslation in the Latin Bible.
You can have the same book all you want, doesn’t mean you teach the correct interpretation, Jesus is the way the truth and the life. Mary can’t save you nor hear you ✝️

@thecatechumen Both you and alex are lying. By claiming others lie that mean you know the truth. What is the truth? Jesus is the truth, life and the way. Who is Jesus? God. 1john3:6 says that sinners don't know God or understand Him.
And because you and alex are sinners that means that neither of you know the truth. That means you are both liars.

1 John 1:8-10
“If you see your brother or sister committing what is not a deadly sin, you will ask, and God will give life to such a one-to those whose sin is not deadly. There is sin that is deadly; I do not say that you should pray about that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not deadly.”
