This is a great album. I agree with your comment - it gets better and better the more you listen to it. Of cource, the whole Insomnium catalog is great but somehow this hits me hardest.

This is currently #1 on my top songs of all time. It is, in my opinion, one of the greatest pieces of metal composition ever recorded.

I can definitely see why! The shear musical prowess of this band is fantastic and this album does a great job of showing it off🤘

This is what i actually think too, and I'm afraid there's nothing similar. Any suggestions? Maybe I'm wrong, I'd like to find something else with similar structure

Love this album! For a period of my life, when I was having trouble falling asleep, I would put it on and usually by the end of the first part it would be lights out for me. Favourite parts are from 5 through 7 though. The arrival of the winter and the subsequent hopelessness in the face of it along with the conjured horrors decimating the adventure party, musically executed to perfection. It feels like the end Game of Thrones deserved. The civilized world devoured by the undead and brought to the brink of extinction by a seamless unending winter.

16:29 this transition is just an outstanding way to demonstrate how you can go from peace and calm feel to opening hells gate suddenly and make it feel so dark. Part 3 is the best of this album

This, like Anno 1696, is based on a short story written by Niilo. Truly a work of art. I can't say enough good things about this band.

Oh yeah I bet, I'll have to try doing that one of these days. It's too bad that my car's speakers suck though lmao

Oh for sure, albums like this always have new things that I pick out after each listen depending on what parts I focus on.

Discovered this album when it came out, was already in metal since quite a few years, I'm in metal today also, but I never ever heard a thing that could surpass Winter's Gate, this is just something else man

You must've reacted to the song split into multiple videos because this is indeed one 40 min song/ album called "Winter's Gate".

Yeah, Spotify splits the track into 7 parts. I think it's more convenient that way though because then I can more easily point out sections and parts that stood out to me.
