There is a lot of these channels but this one is the best. The fact that you show everything is so helpful. It’s not just what you buy, it’s what you leave behind that helps me learn.
Thank you!!! My aim is to show that you CAN find good records at thrift stores and to teach my tips and tricks so you can do it too! I don't always find good stuff...but i find stuff often enough to keep me going! I have amassed a collection of nearly 4000 records...at a small fraction of what most people pay for records! Thank you so much for the kind words!
I really appreciate that you show the realistic way thrift store record digging is, and that really does make the scores much more fun. Thanks again, Jerry
I assumed it was disco...but I'm starting to appreciate more disco because a lot of it is great funk stuff! I'd thought about getting it just to give to a local record store owner who is always purposely melting records in the sun on hot days to show how hot it is. EVERY hot day you can count on him posting a picture on Facebook of a record he's melting in the sun.
Wooohooo major DP score at Goodwill! Too bad they were so scratched up, that's heartbreaking! Love Nancy Sinatra too, but I've got that one already. Since I can't get out to any stores/flea markets/yard sales today, I'll watch yours, it's just like being there myself.
Tuco, i like watching your vinyl hunting videos. Your good at showing some odd ball great LP covers. Im Looking for a" clear light" LP , noticed you had one in a box .
yes, thank you for showing the fans of vinyl collectors these records in these thrift stores. I thought you might have gotten the Jim reeves records the are collectable,
I wish you could have flipped through those 78's at the first goodwill. Many 78's are worth more than some 33's but most not worth anything. I have found some really good ones. Most people don't look through them. Can hardly wait for the super score video.
I actually did dig through them, but you couldn't see anything good enough on the footage, so it ended up on the cutting room floor. (45s too). I definitely don't know much about 78s, but i always dig through them because I'm hoping someday to find Screamin Jay Hawkins (one of my holiest of holy grails!). So much to know about 78s! And usually they're not on discogs either, so i can't just look them up. Someone mentioned before that most 78 collectors don't use discogs?
It took me a long time to learn, and Really I still don't know that much but when I find good stuff it's so satisfying. I recently found a early King Oliver from the early 20's really nice.
The Dick Wellstood records I've found have actually turned out to be not so bad. Ragtime music. And you have me on the serious lookout for that Carol Christmas album. I want it now. Fingers crossed you find it. lol
Cool ciggie machine. Man I wouldve bought that Deep Purple maybe for $2 if the b side was clean / didnt have a gouge like the A side. That best name ever artist haha! Lol
Yeah, that dp would have made a good place holder! It's common enough though, I'll come across it again. Besides, I'm not a big fan of mk3 era. Crazy all the obsolete brands that were in that cigarette machine!
Hi Tuco. I noticed a George Shering Quintet record at 20:29, would you consider them a exotica bachelor pad type artist? The artwork on that Cowboy compilation looked great. Thanks.
I've got a few of his records. I don't think I'd classify him as Exotica...but certainly bachelor pad. The ones that I've got are a bit too easy listening for my taste. I know a lot of people like him more than i do though!
@@VinylHunter Thanks for your answer. I’ve been finding and picking up a lot of Command label records lately. They are nice additions to my collection. I’ve discovered Roger Miller and space age bachelor pad music thanks to you!
It's funny...the context of things...had i seen that box at a record store for $6 i would have thought it was cheap...but at a thrift store i thought $6 was a lot! 🤣😂🤣😂
I would have grabbed the Hoosier Hot Shots record you flipped through, as I'm a sucker for novelty acts. Their origins date back to the mid-'30s, and they performed into the '70s. They were actually an early influencer of Spike Jones.
I was unfamiliar with them...but I'm thinning out most of my novelty and comedy records from my collection because i never listen to them, so they're just taking up valuable shelf space. I still collect a few though. I can't pass up a Redd Foxx record for example.
5:07 That's a bummer about that Deep Purple album being so badly gouged and it's uncanny, but every time I see a Herman's Hermits record just like that one, it's always scratched to oblivion; never just a little scratch here and there; always DESTROYED. So, the quest goes on to find a Herman's Hermits record in decent, playable shape.
The Carly Simon "No Secrets" album was just released on two different color (blue and pink versions) vinyl this week (December 2, 2022). Of course not at thrift store bargain prices though.
That Hiding Place Soundtrack with big Nazi symbol on it that you considered for half a second is the story of Corrie Ten Boom who I believe helped hide Jewish people from the evil Nazi bastards Kind of like an Underground Railroad for the Jews. She was a devout Christian and her story was a huge deal back in the day when I was a kid! I remember seeing a screening of the movie in my church as a youngin’! LoL!
Not a bad price either at $3. It probably wouldn't get much time on the turntable though...I'm trying to purge a bunch of that stuff from my collection to free up some valuable shelf space.
I'm going to throw this out at you. When you are crate digging and come across the old Capitol pressing's like that Christmas From Sweden album, if they are Turquoise Labels, that means these are 1st pressings from Scranton. Which in turn sells for a premium. Some of those ole time Christmas vinyl is worth a nice amount of change. Know what i mean.
Good to know! I'm often surprised by things that don't SEEM to be worth much, but then turn out to be worth a ton! I've got a couple in my top 10 most valuable records that i had no idea when i got them (thrift finds) were worth so much!
Get that music going! Show us the good stuff AND the crap! You probably won't like Livingston Taylor - he's just as boring as his brother James and sister Kate! A sure cure for insomnia! A decent copy of that Deep Purple album would have been a great find - we're here to ROCK, not snooze...I can't give away country records in my area. Your quote on that Blackwood dude was right on spot - LOL! ... I did go thrifting a couple daze ago and found a few nice LPs at Goodwill: two by Peter Walker, (Dr. Timothy Leary's musical and spiritual advisor!), and Silver City, a local 70's/80's Harrisburg, Pennsy rock band. Was very happy with those! See ya next trip!
Yeah! I don't mind "dirty" at all... that'll clean up! I've been contemplating getting an ultrasonic cleaner for a while. If you heard me mention "the dig of a lifetime" in my last video, i got hundreds of mind blowing records in this dig...all super minty...but they're a bit dirty...and the dirt is decades old... And after cleaning with Tergikleen AND Spin Clean, they still have a bit of noise...i think an ultrasonic cleaner would do the trick.
The best part of videoing when you thrift for vinyl is you can just laugh at the ridiculous funny records without actually buying them. I knew the Deep Purple was going to be hopelessly scratched, because it would have been gone otherwise.
Hi Tuco!! you really broke my heart with that Deep Purple live record...... bummer hearing it's in shitty condition.dick Stoodwell, even i get the joke!!! taking about bulling in school. cheers and be well
Yeah! Bummer! I don't have that record yet! It's not rare...I'll come across it again...but that may have been my only chance to get it at thrift store prices!

That Heatwave record is a pretty cool funk record, buy you just can't beat Dick Stoodwell! Great finds.

Bro! You passed up Loretta Lynn Country Christmas!!! And that Hank box!
👍Yeah I would have definitely gotten the Loretta Lynn Country Christmas.
Ha ha!..even funnier if Dick Welstood was a stage name!
That made my morning Tuco! .🤣
🤣😂🤣😂 It is framed and hanging in my music room now!!!
Wooohooo major DP score at Goodwill! Too bad they were so scratched up, that's heartbreaking! Love Nancy Sinatra too, but I've got that one already. Since I can't get out to any stores/flea markets/yard sales today, I'll watch yours, it's just like being there myself.
Next week I'll take you to some city-wide garage sales!
Another great video! You sounded like me talking to myself...."Now that I see these two together as a matching pair I kinda want them!" Skol! Jeff
🤣😂🤣😂
Another awesome vinyl hunt, I really enjoy your videos thanks for taking us along! Peace.
Thanks Mike! I really dig your videos too!
richard cranium had a few hits back in the day to lol...
Do his friends call him Dick Head? 🤣😂🤣😂
The Dick Wellstood would be in a frame in my living area right now, what a man.....
Ha! That's my plan exactly!!!
Should have put a phony surname like Colonel or Captain Dick Wellstood. With one of those sailor captain hats. ;) cool vid. Thanks
🤣😂🤣😂
Tuco, i like watching your vinyl hunting videos.
Your good at showing some odd ball great LP covers. Im Looking for a" clear light" LP , noticed you had one in a box .
Yeah! I found that Clear Light record at a local record store a while back (if i remember correctly). Thank you for the kind words!!!
Gives me hope for finding stuff.. Seeburg made the ciggy machine? Kool.
I haven't seen one of those machines for decades! So many obsolete cigarette brands represented in that machine!
RE: Jeannie C Riley Generation Gap, look out for the green vinyl whenever you see it. For me at least.
yes, thank you for showing the fans of vinyl collectors these records in these thrift stores. I thought you might have gotten the Jim reeves records the are collectable,
Thank you! I've got sooo many classic country records, I'm trying to cut back on buying them.
Pretty sure that record with Mr Bills (Dodge) on it was my PE teacher from elementary school. Mr Bills at Dodge Elementary!
That would be a cool coincidence!!!

@@VinylHunter ditto here. I go to thrifts for cheap prices
Carly Simon smuggling peanuts
🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Exactly!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂
16:38 "Dick Wellstood". Hahaha! He should have been a spokesperson for Viagra (had it existed at that time, which it hadn't). :)
Totally!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Yeah! How does that happen? There's several artists like that...ALWAYS roasted!
Truly the greatest name ever 😂😂😂😂
Too good! I HAD to buy it!!! 🤣😂🤣😂
The Carly Simon "No Secrets" album was just released on two different color (blue and pink versions) vinyl this week (December 2, 2022). Of course not at thrift store bargain prices though.

Tuco, I haven’t asked this; Do you ever have SWAP MEETS anywhere out there? How about Garage/Yard sales? Do you seek out those as well?
I go to lots of garage sales (i went to one in this video). You'd think in Omaha there'd be a regular swap meet...but they're few and far between.

When I find something like that, I actually pray as I pull the disc out … and I’m a heathen!
Dick Wellstood, he's a descendant of Biggus Dickus I reckon ruclips.net/video/FlV4AhtKr-0/видео.html

Yes, I've slowed down on buying funny covers because showing it in a video is good enough. But, Dick Wellstood had to come home with me! 🤣😂🤣

Thrift Store records depress me
Yes! They are usually the unwanted or battered refuse! At what is probably their last stop before they go to the landfill.
