Was Diane some version of the ferryman on the River Styx? Her last name being something close to Carter or Cooper makes me think it may have been Charon (the name of the ferryman) and the delivery guy just couldn’t remember it. Plus that line at the end when she says she might take the guy up on his offer to come see him one day (when he eventually becomes a cadaver himself) has me wondering…

@@Snapper314 except the way she said "one day I may take you up" for a drunk sounds way too much like she's going to one day (when he is a cadaver) take him up (to where she is) to drink him
This was a terrific story, spooky, creepy and intriguing. A fantastic narration and great story telling. Who---or what-----was Diane? What was she doing with the cadavers? Why did she look so strange? And the smell of burning that accompanied her? Diane was no outright monster----the watchman was not immediately devoured or disappeared at his first investigation, even though he apparently had no one to miss him, if he did disappear. She responded well to his offer of company, even though she refused it. She definitely came to the defense of the watchmen. You have to wonder-----he gave her a little companionship, a little friendship, and she appreciated it. Her answer to his offer of a meeting is both promising and a bit creepy. She says, if he is willing, they might meet one day. That statement is interesting and just a bit menacing, yet it was without directly presenting a threat to him. After all, why go to the trouble of saving him, if she meant him ill? Does she mean that she will find him when he himself is a dead body, having died in the natural progression of time? But if that was the case, why would she ask him if his offer to meet remained open? After his death, why would she need his permission to find him? Is she suggesting that she might find him after she finishes whatever her "work" was? After she completes whatever it is she is doing? After it would be safe for her to meet him? We are left to wonder and speculate. Whatever supernatural creature Diane was, she did not strike me as a soulless monster. Even with her defense of the watchman----she killed the thug who hurt the watchman and directly threatened her, but let the others run away unharmed, even though the suggestion is that she could have killed them all. This felt less like a horror story, and more like a story of two lonely souls, connecting by chance over an offer of friendship freely given. And while it is a very satisfying conclusion, it leaves the listener wondering if we should hope for that eventual future meeting or not. The story was very well written, very engagingly told. It gives you enough details to let you care about the protagonist, but does not waste a lot of time. Far too many of these stories end in gore and blood, the protagonist killed, or dammed or whatever. I prefer this ending. He walks away with an interesting memory. It is very much like how something like this might actually happen in real life. After all, what would you do if this happened to you? Nothing really. You would go on with your life, but you would remember and wonder. The entire story is satisfying but intriguing and thought provoking. A very different twist on the idea of "haunted" abandoned places. The narration is wonderful, and very well done, easy to listen to. Highly recommended!
This is such a beautiful analysis - it really adds something to the story, beyond just revealing the literal events that have to be distilled. I like the little 4th wall nod about "no set of weird rules" that we come to expect out of most of the guard job stories. BCI MK VI eh? Feels like to me it was an AI of sorts he was talking to and Diane's body was the one the company had been using during the previously mentioned incident researching whatever they were. Alright! Security guard/night watchman story! These are awesome 👌 I just love these stories man, they're always sooo creepy! I'm sure it has it's low parts but watching horror movies in abandoned buildings while patrolling every now and then sounds like a pretty good job if you ask me!
I've done it. It's creepy AF. It gets in your head. There was one building in particular that I would've bet my life was haunted while working there. Now I realize I was probably just spooking myself... but still wouldn't want to do another shift there. It was a huge old brick building in central PA that used to be a school and got turned into a government building of some sort. The first few weeks working I turned on the gym lights and played basketball. The bounce of the ball echoed through the empty building like gun shots. I swear I started hearing laughter between bounces. I'd stop and listen and the laughter would fade as the sound reverberation of the ball stopped. Then the lights started turning off on me randomly leaving me blind in a pitch black gymnasium with laughing sounds and a bouncing ball I couldn't find. My adrenaline spikes a little just remembering feeling my way to the wall in the pitch black and shuffle walking to find the door. Second time the lights went out on me I gave up on the gymnasium. Had other things happen too, I'd find random open doors into rooms that didn't even have working lights, creaks and bangs all night every night. One night I was hanging out in the theater reading and decided to take a peek backstage. I almost punched a mannequin that popped up in my flashlight beam. I was a nervous wreck by the time I quit that job, lol. Like I said, I'm sure I was just spooking myself, but you couldn't get me back in that place at night for a thousand bucks. I sound like a wimp when I reread this. I'm not normally even that kind of guy. Just finished the story! I love stories with nuanced monster characters who aren't inherently malevolent. Diane comes off as a lonely figure, it was nice of the protagonist to keep her company so to speak.
37:43 Y'know that scene in superhero movies where the hero has this "old friend" that they knew and meet to have a drink with while hiding their friends to recover from the villain's wrath before the climax? I got a feeling that's gonna happen here.
I think what happened was the building caught fire at some point and that was the accident the delivery man was referring to, Diane who was indeed an accountant working in this building was caught up in this accident on the 5th floor! Since it was the top floor she was unable to get down in time before the flames nearly burnt the building to the ground and instead of dying she became some sort of thing. Not a malevolent thing but some sort of ghost or entity with supernatural powers. Her work was using the cadavers to try and bring her dead coworkers or friends back to life. When the punk was trying to kill the security guard she made him burst into flames, it ate him up until he was nothing but that ozone burning smell. That promise that she made to him was to not only meet back up with him later on in life but to bring him back from the dead as a part of her work to live with her. But then that’s all just speculation so, regardless a brilliant story.
My husband used to work security for an agency and the job description is spot on. A few times his presence made people on foot turn the other way, once he chased off a teen boy climbing the chain link fence and that was about the most exciting thing. But his presence probably saved thousands of dollars for the hospital under construction that had to be sealed and left when an Iowa winter hit as people would be oh so glad to steel the large rolls of copper, tools, and lumber. He went place to place on contracts for durations of time, a lot of job sites at night.

Do you post on Reddit, or? Idk there was something about this comment that made me really want to hear a full version! (Even if some of it is fiction to make it more interesting or whatever, its still a REALLY fun start to a story.)...(lol oh not to make light of a terrifying experience but from the outside looking in I can't help it!)
@@Nyctonaut I'll let you know if I do, but it wouldn't be anytime soon. Over the past few years I've written a 1200 page fantasy epic... and I'm absolutely in love with the world I created. But I'm not a professional writer, and every time I reread it, I find dozens and dozens of mistakes... it also jumps between first and third person which I guess is a no-no that only an amateur would do, lol.... I love this thing so much and I'm so proud of it, but I don't really know where to take it from here. I'm kind of stumped. I know I'll never write anything this good again so I want it to be perfect.
Anyways, I look forward to checking out your channel!
Awesome story Stephen, the open ending ,with so much left only partially answered was very well done. Just the right balance of creepy as all hell and intriguing mystery. Great narration as always and the extra work for the longer story was greatly appreciated too. Cheers Srephen, Lee.
Cheers Lee! I know what you mean. I like not everything being answered too. Thanks for all the support!
I like your reading voice. It feels very different then other good narrators but its really calming.
thanks Anti! I appreciate that
I love listening to these stories when I'm doing backshift security. Really sets the mood.
It makes my night when i see uve uploaded a story 💕
🙂
Even though it's a horror story, but the friendliness between the guard and Diane just feels so wholesome
I thought so too. Often these types of stories have unfriendly characters who are somewhat an enigma, but it's nice to hear a genuinely polite conversation
Would love to hear more episodes of this. Awesome story and delivery 💜🐾🐾💜
Makes the night when Steven comes thru! Thanks my brother!
🙂👊
Glad that he came back to thank her. Always annoys me when they don't.
This is gonna be good! Can't wait to listen to this on my lunch break 👀
Very creepy! But the way you read made it almost relaxing 😌. Thank you for sharing.
Winnipeg is near me, crazy to hear familiar town names in a story
Man I love listening to your stories late at night. Thank you for another fantastic narration, my friend. Best narrator on RUclips.
thanks Jesse!
I like falling asleep to these stories. Quite often my mind incorporates parts of the story into my dreams.
I don't know why, but these stories make me fall asleep peacefully , they are always so good 😌👌🏻
Stephen, I love the stories you narrate for us! Wow 🤩 I’m always so impressed with the whole immersive experience here at the lighthouse horror, just like your channel name drawing us in! The title & thumbnail shows that this will be BRILLIANT HORROR!
Thank you my friend! 🔥👊😄
I had a feeling we would be getting a post from LH. Score!

I tought she was a vampire/ghoul.

I'm only too glad to see a protag recognize a potential monster who isn't actually doing something wrong
I love these kind of stories
Amazing story and amazing narrator!
You're one of the best!

Hey Steven
It's been a while since I've checked in.
Always my fave C.P narrator hands down
Hope your well
Don’t call it CP tho yeah?
thanks Mr. Hope you're well too
@@PeterD4268 Haha I know there's more too it,..
Was just a quick comment the abbreviation is probably outdated like me lol
@@LighthouseHorror Cheers mate
@@mrg6185 'CP' as an abbreviation has some... erm. other connotations. The kind people go to prison for.
The fifth floor 👀👀 sounding spooooky
Hope to hear more from this story, kinda leaves you hanging, very intriguing though like a fish on a hook waiting to be reeled in!!☠️💀☠️💀
For real..i have been listening to all the creepypasta narrators since day one..you by far have one of the best voices for the job..im always so excited when I see a new video from you..keep it up..thank you for everything👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This one was surprisingly wholesome. I liked it.
A very interesting and mysterious story by Head of Spectre! The narration and especially the Voice work were superb!! Very enjoyable. Thank you and the author very much!!
Good one. It left the listener very curious but ... comfortable.
Loved it dude, that guard had some big ones to keep going back there every night like that no matter what was going on!
Right!!

I am just astonished at how many subscriber's you have! I have been here since the 40K range. I tell everyone about your channel and I wish you were on the Chilling app, then I could fall asleep to your stories without commercials! Lol
Very happy for your success! You should feel proud ☺
Wake up me another light house video has been posted
I hope we hear more from her. Great story. Great narration as always. Thankyou Lighthouse.
Well anything past the 3rd floor is questionable anyhow
This was pretty wholesome for a creepypasta, I absolutely loved it! It's a nice change of pace
I love how the kid was about to fight that monster. It's kinda refreshing
Outstanding L. I always manage to get a laugh from your stories (the character voices especially 😂👍).
Same
very interesting story. it keeps you on edge and stuck in your seat wanting to know what comes next - you don’t want to miss a word. I had a great time listening to you narrate the story, your soft voice makes the story even more intriguing. thanks for sharing. i just happened to be searching around and found your channel. I am now a new subscriber!!
Thank you!
Always fascinating when an author has a sort of extended universe. This one is intriguing!
PLEASE LIGHTHOUSE HORROR MAKE PART A PART FOR THIS. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE IM BEGGING YOU I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. I love your work btw. Your the best!!!!!!!!!
Hey have a good night ma man
Im a night security dog handler… I love these stories but some times can’t listen to them to much on shift lol 😂
Splendid 👍👍
Ouuu just what I needed!!
I loved it, awesome story and of course. the best narrator ever ... JMO!
🙂👊
Not opinion fact he is literally the best
Yo Light! Perfect narration as always and a great story.
thanks George! Hope you're doing well
He'll yeah new LH video.
As an ex security guard , I wish I would have this back in the 90's. To keep me going on those 12 hrs shifts.
Just finished the story! I love stories with nuanced monster characters who aren't inherently malevolent. Diane comes off as a lonely figure, it was nice of the protagonist to keep her company so to speak.
And this is one of my favorites I've ever heard on any channel. Something about it is so..
Sweet.
I love to fall asleep to his stories. And I have to go back and listen again.😊
Really enjoyed that ending
Hey Stephen 👍 That was a Kool Listening 🖤✌️💚😎🌺🍪
I would love to hear a part two of Diane and the watchman
Woohoo thanks!
Love it

Y'know that scene in superhero movies where the hero has this "old friend" that they knew and meet to have a drink with while hiding their friends to recover from the villain's wrath before the climax?
I listen to not so scary stories of yours cuz one had me freaking out about the haunted/monster theater with stuff that grabs the rich visitors!
another great story, thanks, love to listen while I'm eating breakfast
Wonderful Story - Really Enjoyed - Great Narration As Always! :)
I loved this one!! U have such a talent to tell these stories!
I'd say your voice work is unappreciated talent, but I know we all appreciate it greatly.
I really want a continuation of this one!
Part 353 of thanking the lighthouse horror for their constant uploads
My husband used to work security for an agency and the job description is spot on. A few times his presence made people on foot turn the other way, once he chased off a teen boy climbing the chain link fence and that was about the most exciting thing. But his presence probably saved thousands of dollars for the hospital under construction that had to be sealed and left when an Iowa winter hit as people would be oh so glad to steel the large rolls of copper, tools, and lumber. He went place to place on contracts for durations of time, a lot of job sites at night.
You're a really good storyteller. Wish we had you back in 2nd grade at storytime. Lol
Have a lot of stories to catch up 😁 but it's a pleasure listening to your voice and stories they are really a joy to listen ❤🖐
Enjoyed this one. Thanks!
Yay👏 another story 💖💝
