How blessed to have this . Only short bit of silent film of my dad exists . Zero sound recording . All eight of us young kids went to our aunts house to see dad in the projector.
Long , long ago . I pray the complete group will be rejoined . I pray.
Patrick, your family and Heidi are very special folks. Thank you , Heidi !!!! Thank you, both .
Reminds me of the stories my daddy use to tell. He was an Okie born in 1932. He was out on his own at 14 before he entered the army. He was a hard worker! He quit school at eighty grade then later got his GED and went to business college. He too had many skills growing up hard, which pays off.
What a treasure to have. And Patrick's Mom's voice is in there too. Praying for peace and comfort as you grieve.
Y’all must be so happy to have this. What an absolute treasure!
Praise God that you have this interview with Rufus. Stories coming directly from our elders are the BEST! A lot of Rufus's stories were very similar to my parents stories growing up in northern Wisconsin. You can tell that Rufus was a very good man!
And I also pray that this video will encourage others to reach out to the elders whether they are family or not, and listen to their stories! God bless!
This is so cute Heidi, thank you for sharing it with us. God bless and comfort you and your family sweet Heidi 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you for sharing this with us. So priceless!
Roosevelt started the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) on March 21, 1933. The CCC provided jobs for unemployed, unmarried young men between 1933 and 1942. This was so they could help their family. You can go to a lot of your state parks and see cabins and bridges they built.
May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
❤❤❤ May he rest in peace! May God bless you all!
Sounds so wonderful, wont be long till we are doin all that again. Wonderful memories. GOD BLESS Y'ALL ALWAYS~
Thank you for this treasure! Peace to all of you!
Thank you Heidi for sharing this. It will be a treasure of memories for you father in law.
Thank you, Heidi❤, for wonderful memories! Love listening to this again. ❤ Praying for y'all
That’s awesome! We could never get my dad to talk about his childhood much. He had a rough go. Sweet memories to share & treasure..
We recently moved to Tennessee. We have met folks just like him! Love it here!
What a beautiful tribute. I loved his stories about the old times. ❤
This was so heartwarming ❤ thank you Heidi and Patrick. You've shared such a profoundly moving tribute for your dad, Rufus. I loved hearing his stories of growing up on a farm. Hearing the both of them remembering together was lovely. God bless you and comfort you in your time of grieving. Prayers and love o you all.
Precious and treasured memories🙌🏼 You'll see him, again; he was a beautiful man and is a beautiful soul. Thank you so much for sharing, Heidi🩷
Loved his stories. Thank you for sharing. Special father. Praying for you during this difficult time.
Precious memories... thank you for sharing them with us... so can relate... (born in the 40's and similar childhood) Blessings on your family... 🌻🐛🌿💚💕🙏
We carried water uphill for the house. We were poor but I didn’t know how good it was. Loved this video.
Thank you for sharing this precious life and stories! When the sadness ebbs, these are the memories that will keep you. 🤗💜
I am from North Carolina. It makes me so happy to hear that beautiful NC accent🎶
These stories remind me so much living on my grandpa's farm in Taylorsville NC. It's as if Rufus is telling our story.
How sweet! Loved hearing about his growing up. Mr. Rufus certainly knew how to work! Thanks for sharing this with us. Take care.
Oh Heidi, this was amazing. I bet it’s really nice being able to have him on video. I wish I had my grandpa on video, he had the best stories but I was too young to appreciate it back then. 😢❤❤
And I learned a couple things, very cool.
I am so glad Patrick did this back then. He was wanting to do another and did not have a chance but did get a few clips of him talking about such things while they were on their road trip
Thank you for sharing that memory.
Thank you so much for sharing that Heidi; such precious memories for Patrick, the grandchildren great-granchildren and on down the line ❤️🩹🙏
Cc camps were started to help with the unemployed during the depression. The employed built roads bridges and anything that needed to to be done. There was a cc camp not far from where I live but it is all gone now.
My grandfather worked at a CC camp when he was a young man. I loved hearing his stories.
I love this.❤ I lost my grandpa when I was 15 and I always wished I had video of him.
That was amazing all his stories about growing up. Takes me back to some of my younger days. God Bless you all 💞
That is a true treasure! Thank you for sharing it with us! I noticed he mentioned that education was a privilege. Why don't we go back to that way of life? Not only do kids not appreciate what they have, they don't know anything when they leave school!
Agreed. As he said, he did well for himself without an education. He was hard working, honest, and fair in all his dealings. All the things not taught in school, especially these days
What a sweet treasure you have, may it comfort your family. God bless you for sharing.
I love this video! True honesty and integrity. Back then “Hard Work and Family” was everything!
This will be such a gift & blessing for ya'll Mr.Rain & Heidi & for ya'll's family 💞💞🙏🙏💞
Memory makes Love eternal. Thank you God unto all things. That is a good memory to share. Solid farm stock families. On my grand maternal side, thirteen children on the farm, included the funniest stories between them, plus 3 children's tragic deaths, reality then. The rest lived into their late 80's and 90's. A testament to that time. Thank you Heidi for sharing the oral story of your in-law Dad, Rufus.
Thank you for sharing this precious memory.
May you rest in peace, Rufus! And may you all be comforted with the cherished memories of Rufus! 💕
What an absolute treasure. Thank you so much for sharing this. Blessings to both of you.
Precious memory. Thank you for sharing it with us. Thoughts and prayers are with your family.

All i can say is wow.! Thanks for sharing this. So much information and what a treasure. And had to laff about the cat hung upside down to get the bull to move. ❤️
Reminds me a bit of my grandparents life when they were young. They were born in Ashe County, NC in the late 1800's.
Thank you for sharing, condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

This is a priceless memory to diffently keep That older generation was tough and hard working. My parents were from that tough generation too. Lived thru the depression and dad fought in WW11 and managed to raise 7 kids. Anyway it does take time to heal but hope your both finding God's perfect peace

❤Thank you
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Wonderful video, thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Wonderful look at your father-in-law as well as the life he lived. My great-grandmother canned meat the same way: cook the meat, cover it with fat, store it. She did this before pressure canners and long after. It is the way Europeans still do it out in the country, especially former USSR where modern appliances are few and expensive. I guess they figure why bother if this works.
Love this video.. Hope to see more.
