@@briFFF he's right tho lol. it was much more forgiving to land accurate shots at jump apex, especially with scout. cba to look up source, it was a long time ago. just know that at the next major after the jumping double the same clip would've been practically impossible.
the fact that even on match point of map 3 of a major grand final, ropz had the perfect positioning for the jump, the perfect counter strafe, and the perfect timing for the apex of the jump, shows how much of a goat he was during that entire major
@ That's a valid take. I think optimal play there is probably to spam the smoke towards car and hope for the very low % shot to land because that baits the site guy to push forward to punish you as they can't counter-spam the smoke due to you being able to tuck in behind the wall and if they try to pressure Ropz from site Rain would have the free kill. Second best play is probably to go for the low % though and as the first play would require a lot of coordination (aka explaining the idea to rain) it wasn't viable in the timeframe they had anyway.
@@mooncalf_4534I think the chance it’s being held is incredibly low, not just in any scenario but this context. Rain kills the other T trying to advance onto site, with the T near car preoccupied with rain, so it’s just chopper trying to go for a bomb plant, the chances he can get away with missing this shot and going unpunished are higher than it usually would be
The moment when it was done together with Rain performance simultaneously hits different. But I knew that it is pretty common shot, as I did it multiple times myself. What is cool about the video is the level of your patience and attention to the details. For me the idea of air counterstrafing in this situation was new. It actually can save the moment due to the fact that you can start this move for a split second earlier and kill the bomber before they plant. I always did it with just a straight jump. Thank you and good job!
@jonnytheagent1870 you can. Perfect stafe + perfect timing to take the shot (if you're a single tick later than max accuracy in a jump, it drops down to bottom accuracy)
@jonnytheagent1870 he might be doing it a lot more than normal players do though and have a better feel for it. Because he knows it's low risk for him as it's unexpected. And he knows he can time it well. But you're right, you cant really get good at this by practicing
Could you do a followup? I'd be quite interested how the chances change if you don't time your shot perfectly or strafe perfectly. Thanks for this analysation in any way, really well done. :)
If the CS2 bug didn't cause Broky to miss the smoke in the next round, this could have become one of the most legendary plays of all time. The lifeline that saved them when all hope was lost.
You could just code a monte carlo simulation of the given scenario, define the area which kills and get more precise probability with larger sample size
i once hit a jumpshot across lake, i estimated the chances of hitting it and killing a full hp player to approximatly 1 in 17 000 by a wacky "measure the area of inaccurcy of the awp noscope, and compare it to the area of the target", i would be very interested to see a precise script like yours on that shot if you're intrested (i can send link to said jumpshot)
But the way, the bullet spread square depends on your movement speed the less it is the smaller the square, there was a feature that when you shot at your maximum y axis you have the smallest spread square, with awp it still be somehow relied no random, but with ssg for example you can hit 100% shots all the time.
assuming the bullet has roughly equal chance of going somewhere in the box, couldn't you just calculate the % of the box the player model takes up and use that as a % of the time they will get hit?
1 in 5 if you do it perfectly id say its more of a 1 in 10 chance since how often will you do that perfectly especially as a normal player and not a pro but still very valid to go for it if you practice the jump shot counter strafe/timing for minimal spread
I mean yeah he did everything perfectly to I guess minimize the RNG a little bit but still its hard to call it anything else than what it was, a lucky kill regardless. As awesome of a moment it was to see live I cant help but to feel like the other team got absolutely bullshitted on in one of the most impactful rounds of the map. But thats partly what makes cs unpredictable and amazing, its not like quake where everything is 100% quaranteed accurate laserbeams. Technically in every onetap you go for at range theres and element of RNG that decides if you hit or miss no matter if you aim perfectly at the center of the head.

Jumping sideways like ropz did also makes it harder for the enemy to hit you, in case they're expecting a jumpshot attempt.

You could use probability to calculate the chance, you have to use the area of the hitbox of the player and divide by the area that he could hit
