    *IMPORTANT NOTE*
This is our first impressions after our FIRST visit to Lookout Cay. Some of our opinions do change after our second visit on this cruise! This island destination will change and evolve and we do see some positive changes during our second stop.

    • @TheOldRaven
      @TheOldRaven 3 месяца назад +3

Your first impressions, blunt and stark,
Of Lookout Cay, left quite a mark.
Yet on your second cruise ashore,
You found some changes, if not more.
Evolving sights, with tweaks and tucks,
The island's charm, though still in flux.
The steps you've seen, a cautious nod,
But doubts remain upon the sod.
So here's to change, a tempered view,
From stark critique to thoughts anew.
      Lookout Cay, in shifting tides,
May yet alter hearts and minds.

This island is an unfinished mess. Thanks for being HONEST Adrian. The “influencers” keep saying it’s relaxing which has become an excuse for offering less on this island. This focus on “relaxation” hides that there are no high quality activities to do or Disney themed amenities.

When Dr Seuss visits Lookout Cay:
In a place called Lookout Cay, by the sea so blue,
Disney’s Cruise Line stops, with a magical crew.
With Mickey and Minnie, and Goofy in tow,
To Lighthouse Point, where the trade winds blow.
The ship it did anchor, the fun was set free,
But oh, what a surprise, what a sight did we see!
For buzzing about, with a hum and a sway,
Were flies, oh so many, disrupting the day.
They landed on food, on treats, and on drinks,
Causing frowns, causing scowls, and a whole lot of blinks.
Mickey exclaimed, “Oh, what shall we do?
These flies are a bother to me and to you!”
But Minnie, so clever, she hatched a grand plan,
“To the rescue, we’ll call our good friend, Peter Pan!”
With a sprinkle of pixie dust, he swooped in to say,
“I’ll whisk these flies off to Neverland Bay!”
The guests cheered and clapped, the flies flew away,
And joy was restored to Lookout Cay.
With laughter and smiles, the fun did resume,
As Disney brought magic to every room.
So remember the tale of the flies that did try,
To spoil the fun under the sun and the sky.
But with Disney on board, magic always prevails,
At Lookout Cay, in the wind and the sails!

I got pissed when i saw the beach chairs. They are the plastic straps. What the hell disney, no one want to lay or sit on straps. Where are those amazing beach chairs and loungers that are comfy mesh, which won’t get warp and destroyed by previous users. Strap chairs are what I expect at my apartment poolside or at the resort hotels not at a private Disney beach destination during a cruise.

Here’s the thing, plain and simple: this island is part of the new Disney Co. Profit above all cost! I’ve been in the hospitality industry for more than 15 years, we saw the same when Marriott bought The Ritz-Carlron brand, it went from luxury at all costs to profit at all costs.
And to the “bougie” ppl it is never ok to belittle cast members It is not their fault, but I put myself on these ppl shoes for a second and I can understand their frustration, they paid $10k,$15k,$20k!!! They shouldn't have to deal with any of those issues.
Cost cut and cheap building from Disney its what bring in the company down.

None of the plants had matured, everything was new, routines for the staff hadn't jelled yet, and insect controls hadn't been well established. For example, the Luau drinks while waiting to be seated were served from large punch bowls on portable tables and absolutely swarming with bees (Blue Hawaiians)

When I saw the plants Disney had put in there are better plants down at my Home Depot. They could have spent more at least in a few places and had more mature plants & trees and provided some shade.
The pink sand is beautiful but some of the other beaches I saw on other videos were not nice looking.
Those poor people dressed in those character costumes must have been suffocating. They should have had a time like when you arrive until 11:00 then 3:00 to leaving time, at least that might not be the hottest time of the day.
It’s awful that people are not being told to leave all the coral & any wildlife alone. Look don’t touch!!! Period no exceptions. Shame on Disney for not doing this.
Yes it’s sad some people are so entitled. Your on vacation relax.
Everyone is new at one point in their job even the entitled ones & they should be reminded of that, unless mommy & daddy supported them through life.
I saw in another video there were dead flies in some off their rice, I backed it up to make sure I really saw that & yes they were dead.
Thanks for being honest & not shilling for Disney just because it’s Disney.

1st thing, I love those ears! From your previous video, I don't think the walk is bad, the issue is having to then get on a tram (for most) to get to the beach. I am a fan of MSC's Ocean Cay and understand trees will grow in and not every island needs a water park, but for the price of a Disney Cruise and expectations, Lookout Cay looks very underwhelming. There was nothing there that makes it a must and some areas look very cramped even for smaller ships.
I also wish some cruise lines like Disney who have the land, lean on Tropical Retreat/Cabins/Glamping surrounded by trails.

I think this island needs a few years to evolve before I’m willing to go visit it. Also my parents are in their 50s and my dad has a lot of medical issues from having cancer so the lack of shade and the amount of walking would be almost too much for them.

The work to bring out the Bahamian culture and the elevated walkways to save the environment is wonderful! Yeah Disney! But the flies, ugh! It also looks like an umbrella and lots and lots of 💦 water is a necessity. The ocean water looked crystal, crystal clear and beautiful! The flies, ugh! Couldn’t have eaten no matter how hungry I was. I imagine this was the first time those flies had such a feast in their lives! Disney needs to step that up, double that up, triple that up! There are all sorts of things you can use to get rid of the “vermin” and they need to speed that up quickly! Good to see they have vans from the cruise ship ack and forth, over the dock (for disabled?) Anyway I am booking a cruise in a couple of months for next year and this sounds pretty good! Maybe they could add large Disney type signs around the area, reflecting the culture, but also reflecting Disney! Love your vlog and the review! Keep up the good work!

It looks very unfinished. And that 1/2 mile walk will deter people from wanting to go if they don't know it's not that bad. We had the choice of a cruise that goes to castaway or lookout and after reviewing your video we went with castaway

Overall from seeing all the videos I do think they also should have waited to open. Looks like they relied too much on the locals and did not collaborate with the Imagineers for the finishing touches. There many small things they can fix to make it more Disney. Everything looked unfinished and rushed. To many things to list to fix. The furniture like the Beach chairs and eating areas tables and chairs and bar stools looks cheap and from big box stores. Nothing unique about them. As a Graphic Designer the signage looks so basic and could be improved, they can add more maps and larger signs. The Merch Stores seem to small and few. They need more logistical storage areas for example to store the pallets of water bottles. They need to net off the food areas.

Best stateroom on Fantasy, other than kids from the teen club banging on your door at random, and oftentimes in the middle of the night. That ain't no woodpecker. That's some little jackwagon thinking they're being funny around their "friends."

Thanks for your honest review. I realize it’s not a private island. I’ve heard that locals are able to get a day pass to the Disney area. Is this true?

On a Disney cruise do you still have the option to stay on the ship? Im going on my first Disney cruise and don’t really want to stay on the island long.

You do have the option to stay on board. You don’t have to go on the island at all if you do not desire

In all honesty, with the flies. If you saw what was happening in the factories where your food comes from. Yeah, it's a small deal breaker.

  • @lmkk9118
    @lmkk9118 3 месяца назад

Disney didn't need another private island. They could have developed more of Castaway Cay if they needed more space. They've just created more problems for themselves because eventually everyone is just going to stay on the ship for this port. It's just not worth it.

Oh see I would not have been able to keep my mouth shut with the Karen’s who needed to complain about the little things . I have no patience for that sort of entitled behavior. It is a brand new destination . Cut them some slack ! Give it a few months , they will work it all out. Have some GRACE people ! It is already a nasty world, let’s show each other grace and kindness !

And that wasn’t aimed at YOUR review ! From all of the videos I have seen, I agree 100000% w you lol. (I was ticked off with the snobby entitled people you mentioned..) I think the water looks BEAUTIFUL and I saw a ton of open chairs on the one side of the beach. I just agree that Disney rushed it. It was not ready, but it will get better with each passing week I’m sure. And in a few years when all the vegetation is grown in, it’ll be amazing . Cannot wait for your next videos !! We sail on the Fantasy in 55 days!

I’m not saying I agree with entitled people, but Disney is charging full price for experience. People are allowed to vent their frustrations. Where was the grace on the price?

    • @pennstatemom12
      @pennstatemom12 3 месяца назад

@@CampbellzS0up oh I agree on that but I’m referring to the people who complain when the bbq opens at 1131 rather than 1130…on the first day…when the crew is also experiencing the island for the first time. That is entitled and just nasty. Imagine the stress those crew members must have felt. People need to take a deep breath, realize that in the scheme of things it isn’t that big of deal when it comes to things like that . And it just comes down to kindness and compassion .

On your return can you investigate accessibility options I heard many complaints that they were lacking or non existent and that they were never informed until they reached the beach and had to turn around and go back to the ship. I am genuinely curious and concerned because it isn’t really discussed.

  • @RobStevens64

I think Serenity Bay is where it is to make food and bar service easier … on Disney. Given that the beach with the family cabanas there isn’t great either, it would have made more sense for it to be for adults. But if they couldn’t put food and bars there (and given the fly situation, maybe it’s better they didn’t), what do you put there? Maybe families that may need to get back to the ship? That’s what I imagine Disney might have been thinking.
To me, the buildings all look like a local outlet mall, so much that I posted examples on Reddit. That, and the fact that Coco Cat exists, just suggest a lack of real inspiration from Disney. Maybe because the island isn’t theirs, they opened Lookout Cay with the bare minimum to handle the cruisers while they CLOSE Castaway Cay for major reimagining? I don’t know, but I would have expected Disney to do something more like Coco Cay than what we got.
