Alright, so we’ve had glitches, a bootleg, and the GBC. Logic would dictate that the next episode will be the GBA, which is why it will somehow be a speedrun of the Donkey Kong Country cartoon.
I'm kind of hoping to see the Gameboy Donkey Kong Land too. I know it's technically a different game, but it shares a lot of assets and also has the distinction of one of the most ridiculous video game plots I have ever seen.
This LP is so unique, I love seeing Jon go through so many loopholes so that it's technically still a Donkey Kong Country LP. I can't wait to see how the Funky Kong plot goes!
What do you mean? Aside from that customized debacle, this has been a normal playthrough of DKC. I mean, the glitch in Episode 1 was a bit goofy, but he went back and corrected it.
I don't know if you know this, but things worth mentioning about the GBC version of this: - You may have noticed a couple bunches of Banana are Green. These show you the general area hidden Photos are. To 101% this game, you need to find all the Photos. You can find them with DK's Hand Slap. However... There's 3 per world, but only one Green Bunch. The thing about the Green Bunches is that where they show up depends on if you're playing the normal game, or the game without Star Barrels or DK Barrels. Cranky can tell you vaguely about the Green Banana's existence, but I don't think he says anything more. - Winky's Walkway is longer in this version than the SNES and GBA versions. Here it's an actual level's length, whereas in SNES and GBA you can barely even call it a level. - Some music tracks here are borrowed from Donkey Kong Land, and a couple levels use a track that is supposed to be for another level. There's one exception to this: Vulture Culture. In GBC, this and the other level use a unique track that I don't believe is from anything. - GBC has a unique level: Necky Nutmare. It is located in the final world after Manic Mincers, I believe. - Candy's Challenges unlocks minigames for Cranky's Crosshair. There's also Funky's Fishing which returned in the GBA and I swear has an impossible to beat hi-score
“And now, he’s at the end. He’s slow. He is slow. He is slow. Jon, you fool!” is my favorite let’s play quote of yours after “Move faster, Pokey! Faster! Faster! For the love of god faster!” 😆
Jon was one of the pioneers of the video lets play back in the day. Now he's attempting to pioneer a new medium: The "Let's not play". I hope this goes on to feature everything donkey kong related but the original Donkey Kong Country on SNES.
I'm just wondering if he's going to mention the cartoon and when he's going to finish the one from episode 1 because that's the donkey Kong country I've heard is really good.
I have never been more proud to be subscribed to you than when I saw you recorded an hour and twenty minutes of straight-faced LP content in 2 episodes as a shitpost.
It's now time for another wacky journey of Jon's let's play of Donkey Kong Country. Where he will play every version of the game except for the snes version.
Honestly yeah. The controls are less forgiving, but I definitely don't feel like I missed out on the authentic experience by having only played this version through
A fun fact about the GameBoy Color version: at certain points in the game if you do DK's ground slap move it will uncover stickers that could be printed out using the GameBoy Printer. The only one I ever found is the one the manual tells you about which is under the last banana bunch in the first level.
Cranky may have a point. All these fancy colors are giving us nothing but problems. Maybe true joy can be found in in 4 shades of gray in a 8by8 block...
Honestly, the ammouont of goofiness and fun these episodes have been and my inability to be prepare myself for the shenanigans is great. I'm loving this.
@@kevyjoe413 Somebody needs to hack DKC SNES to include the intro cutscene, ending, new Boss attacks, and Bonus Room screens from the GBA version, and Necky Nutmare from the GBC version. Make it the definitive version of the game.
30:45 What the actual fuck, Jon got so mad that he slammed his hand on the table and we're suddenly in the right DKC... this LP is set in a multiverse.
When he did the warp in the first episode and pretended the first half of the game didn't exist, I wondered how long he would keep up the joke. Turns out it was actually just the setup for the ACTUAL joke.
I recently learned that there are 2 3up balloons at the end of Jungle Hijinx in at least the SNES version hidden at the exit with an autofire barrel firing you backwards into the blue balloons that float away so you got to be quick.
This is the version I grew up with. I didn't learn about the SNES version until much later. And I know this whole LP is just 7 degrees of ridiculous, but I'm surprised you didn't mention the sticker pads near the green bananas in Jungle Hijinx and Stop & Go Station. That said, I'm wondering if you'll point out the Camera Pieces in the GBA version because I know that's coming up, you madman.
13:10 I'm actually in agreement to an extent regarding Aquatic Ambiance, but I love the melody too much... so I decided to do some digging. You don't have to listen, but I found two covers that I thought you'd find interesting. A Reggae Ballad since you like Ska and they're very often associated with each other - ruclips.net/video/EBvzhDnYD3s/видео.html and a Big Band Jazz since they tend to have a focus on percussion (this one is slow to start) - ruclips.net/video/5znrVdAtEDI/видео.html
The most impressive thing about tracks like Aquatic Ambience is how well David Wise made the SNES sing. Its hard to understand that in this day and age but that track has a lot going on that makes it impressive. And on a musical level its very well crafted. It is weird hearing someone say they don't like it but each to their own.
So safe to assume, what's left is the actual game, another bootleg that I'm not aware of, or the GBA port. Man this is a wild let's play and I love it.
@@RocketRoosterFilms Yeah but that's also under a different name/series DK Land, and for some reason isn't considered a port (according to fan wikia apparently idk)
