      Karuitha II Am eternally greatful my grand dad didnt give me any kaburu names. Tho in primary i got made fun of quite a bit coz i didnt have any so called "english" names. Welcome to the club muthuri.

    I have read two books of Ngugi Wa Thiong'o: The devil on the Cross and the river between. Very interesting and amazing literature icon on this planet earth.

    I liked it when talked about the land being stolen and taken away, and waiyaki watched rain drops hitting ground like soldiers marking time, and yet carrying away the soil.

    I like Ngugi wa Thiong'o and I love his work, but what he's saying about names is hogwash. A name is just a name. Whether it's Jimmy or Ngugi or Achebe or Chang, it doesn't matter. The story about colonialism and brainwashing is long gone. Black people should stop playing the damn card.
