The National Coal Board used to run these half-cabs along with the more common S20 cabbed Fodens. They usually had 6LW engines, but there were a couple of "strokers"- truly awesome machines.

"Half cab" That style in Australia is called ""Island Cab"" or long Tom for tray truck carrying lengths of wood. Incredible history.

Yes, Foden did fit Leyland engines, I'm restoring on at the minute with a 680 in it, it's on this channel, Foden S39 restoration.

As a something like 9 year old boy, I remember well Foden 2 stroke dump trucks owned by MH & GC regularly coming past our house in rocking ham road Kettering. Anyone know what happened to that company?

Thanks for the info. I don't think this film is all from the same period.
The S18 styled cab, FGD6 was available in the early 1950's and the half cab was available in 1954, some of them don't look brand new, so maybe mid 50's.
The mighty FRD6/45 at the end of the video was available in 1958, that one also doesn't look that new either. So I would guess at the early 1960's.

The only ones I've seen have been since PACCAR took them over, so after 1982.
I did have some pictures, but cant find them, if they turn up I'll post them on here.
