    This is an old sparring session. This is around the time he fought David Diaz. Pacman is clearly working on timing. He could easily beat up most sparring partners, even they will admit that.

    If people think Manny is getting his butt handed to him like a tribute, they are mistaken--not knowing about boxing and ignorant of Pacquiao's fighting capabilities.
    He's working at his partners level. It's unnecessary to go all out when people are trying to learn boxing techniques or are new to the game.
    If you think pacquiao is serious in this video, watch: MANNY VS KHAN.
    You'll know what I'm talking about. This is a sparring match where Pacquiao must fight hard to prevent injury and keep himself in top C

    When Pacquiao pours it in the guy is hapless. Reminds me of the Hatton fight where Hatton tried to bully Pac. Pac wasn't gonna step back for no bully, it was a real dog fight. But Pac was faster and hit stronger, lasted only 2 rounds.

  • @TennBoxx

    You can even hear Pacman asking his sparring partner to hit him. "Come on, go go go..." He's working on timing.

    What did you learn after sparring with Pacquiao?

    • @stevequinonez4473
      @stevequinonez4473 6 лет назад

      Herod P to be honest after sparring with Manny Pacquiao it just felt like a large privilege being able to be in the ring with him. But as far as speed and punching power, did not really make a difference to me. I think because I have fought so many fighters once you feel A Hard Punch they basically all feel the same but yet at the same time he did not hit me very much so we did really good work together. However, I did learn a lot and adapted some of his skills to mine.

    Quinones! Dime que aprendiste de la secciones de guanteo con Pacquiao? Vas a contestar o no?

    • @stevequinonez4473
      @stevequinonez4473 6 лет назад

      Sparring with Manny Pacquiao, it was a great privilege. I spent approximately 6 weeks in training camp with him. As for his punching power, Manny does hit hard but I have been hit hard by so many boxers that his punches didn't really feel different. Maybe it's just my experience. But just imagine I have been in the ring with Jose Luis Castillo, Diego Corrales, Micky Ward, and so much more. So I know how to take punches. But once again Manny is a great guy and it was a privilege and an honor to be in the ring with one of the best fighters in the world.

    lol those of you talking shit probably never stepped foot in the ring. Let me say this if Manny were to go his fullest on his sparring partners it wouldnt be fair to the other boxers because he's that good plus they wouldnt benefit from the sparring at all, in this case mannys working with his partner. Theres a reason why Manny dropps big powerful boxers like cotto the man has lightning and thunder built in him!

    was this for the diaz fight. lol manny looks like it took a couple rounds to adjust to fighting another southpaw and the other guy is alot more comfortable with a south paw infront of him. im a southpaw my weakness... other southpaws

    • @donlucky4

      true. the angles, combination, planting the lead foot, and lateral movement is awkward when fighting a fellow southpaw.

  • @JEDIAL9
    @JEDIAL9 11 лет назад

    In this feed Pacquiao looks confused in the first round, from the ducking under gut shots, this why the sparring partner clearly dominates, but in the 2nd Pacman makes a slight adjustment. Pacquiao is known to knockout and rib fracture sparring partners. Most recently Freddie Roach said on FIGHTHYPE Pacquiao has dropped ko'd 3 sparring dudes, WHICH MEANS THEY DO GO HARD, IN MOST CASES. Really, it's just the amateurs athletes that do this because they are mostly friends and on the come up.

    Just another day in the office! Jus because he's manny pacquiao don't mean he wins every round in sparring! Lol some days ya tired,some days u don't wanna be there and its the same for EVERY fighter! Mayweather,hopkins,ward its can u do it when it matters under the lights! Good workout for him bet he was really sharp for the fiight cus of this guy.

    @JEDIAL9 11 лет назад

    Yes, and no to that "sparring" answer. During, Mike Tyson's supposedly come back over a year and a half ago, he kept getting knocked down by none fighters. Mayweather sparred a dude after the Ortiz fight who called him garbage, completely different weight class and Floyd destroyed him. So yes people do go hard, if they think they are better. But, for the most part you spar with mutual respect.

  • @JR-vr2pz
    @JR-vr2pz 10 лет назад +1

    it is crazy how overhyped pacquiao is and has been over his career. he is making absolute basic, fundamental mistakes against an average at best sparring partner. no display of defence or counter punching from pacquiao. it is just like rock-em-sock-em robot: each guy just throwing punches with no real defence, angles or counter-punching.

    • @AzumaShinobiRyu
      @AzumaShinobiRyu 10 лет назад +8

      when sparring you work on what you want to work on. there are those who would take advantage of this opportunity to try and test things in their mind. pac is definitely one of them. i also do that as well. the sparring session before i do well, landing fast shots and moving in angles. the next session, i looked like a slugger slower than brandon rios, because it was sparring and it was time to work on things in my mind. if you didn't know you would think i was trying my best, but actually i'm just working on a specific thing taking advantage of sparring. besides, pac doesn't fight like that in real fights if you're convinced that pac was fighting his usual style or even trying.

    • @JR-vr2pz
      @JR-vr2pz 10 лет назад

      okay thanks for telling me about sparring. i also box. regardless of what you are working on you shouldn't be making fundamental mistakes like this - especially if you a "P4P" fighter. nevertheless, what is pac working on here? its clearly not defense, its clearly not counter-punching, its clearly not using angles. what is it - learning how to make fundamental mistakes and get hit?

    • @AzumaShinobiRyu
      @AzumaShinobiRyu 10 лет назад +7

      ***** here is my attempt to cite something.
      pac does go serious in sparring as well but he also often doesn't. according freddie, in his preparation for bradley 2, he forced pac to spar aggressively and made pac spar an extra round because he wasn't serious in the 1st round. his sparring partner (Rhodes) attested that while pac looks reckless and aggressive to the observer, what surprised him most was pac's timing despite his awkward style where other opponents had difficulty landing punches pac was timing and catching him.
      in other words, freddie pretty much told us that pac frequently does not try his best in sparring which i believe is the case in this sparring video and others.
      as for timing, if you see no timing here and his opponent (undefeated so far) said he times everything, it means that that is the video you should watch to critique (if it is available). although as Rhodes said you gotta get in the ring to know so watching it may not be the most accurate assessment.
      Rhodes should be better than the "average at best sparring partner" in this vid. although i can't find Rhodes sparring pac, here is him sparring porters.
      /watch?v=WqPPXrcCSqI (Lydell Rhodes (17-0, 9 KO's) steps in to spar with Shawn Porter at the Mayweather Boxing Club)
      PS: I just randomly clicked on the bar in this vid and starting at 13:42 look at that lols. pac sticking his right hand out like it would do something, then the left, then get hit like hell and then just shaking off the daze. lol... BUT against rios, he stuck out his hand and used head control successfully, oftentimes in combination with the sidestep, one of mayweather's favourite move and leonard's famous move. he did one thing in sparring and another in a fight that actually mattered (and without headgear), which one would you be prone to believe? ;)
      PSS: sry my attempt at citing was lazy because i didn't want to google the source, but the quotes in the article can be found in youtube interviews which i watched yesterday or the day before yesterday.

    • @JR-vr2pz
      @JR-vr2pz 10 лет назад

      haha, probably not in regards to boxing. however, i do know how to identify fundamental boxing flaws, which pacquiao makes a lot of.

    • @AzumaShinobiRyu
      @AzumaShinobiRyu 10 лет назад +5

      *****
      Everyone knows how to identify fundamental boxing flaws, including Teddy Atlas, Jim Lampley, and the typical potato couch. Bradley and his coach, Cotto and his coach, Rios and his coach, every other fighter and his coach could identify them too and they say how they are going to take advantage of them. The point is that everyone whether they matter or not can identify these things and they are all the same. The one doing the amazing thing is Pacman because despite these "observations" you all are seeing, he just goes out again and again until the age of 35 and still destroying ppl with better "fundamental" skills than him and trainers who said they'll take advantage of bla bla bla.
