i was marshalling this race. i remember this crash by the guy who got out and sprinted to his son at the bottom of ramp. after your session finished all staff were given a thankyou from a lot of the people who was involved in this crash. we try our best to make sure everyone’s okay and when they thank us for it, we appreciate it so thankyou!
The same thing has happened to me so may times in races. Getting hit with like 60km/h in the side of the kart or crashing head on into the wall with 80km/h. The rib protector really does save you and does more than we think to protect us.
I've had 2 past big accidents there from people spinning in front of me. You can't see it until the last second and you know it's going to be a big one
Yeah, I know I've been fortunate so far! Unless I know the drivers ability well, I tend not to follow too closely through there now! It's never going to end well there! 👍
Any racing is inherently dangerous. An accident like that can happen anytime. It’s important to have people who know how to manage those situations. So thanks to the marshals. I used to do marshaling at rallye events and was vice stage manager. Worst was watcher’s just walking on the stage randomly and ignoring you
i find it really hard becuase when i go to a session i always get caught behind slow or inexperienced drivers and when i try to overtake them i get 0 space and get rammed into walls. Has anyone got any advice on how to overtake these people
Wow, well done mate. I fractured some ribs karting years ago and they still give me aggro even today when I’m racing. But then again I’m old 😂 Sheffield looks like a good track. I should deffo try it seeing as I live here 😅
I tonight mashed myself up at Go-Karting, first time I went, trying to push to improve my lap time, went all out balls to the wall, kart lost grip sent me into the wall side on at about 25 - 30. Ribs, back and neck all feel mashed, can't move my head now.
Great channel and video. Come back to me when you've hit a wall so hard you fly out the kart backwards and land on your back with your head hitting the track (helmet obviously). This happened to me at Paphos Karting in Cyprus a few years back. Subscribed.
It all really depends on what they were saying was extreme, I guess. I'd slow down a bit, make sure you're being smooth with all your inputs (indoor karting works better with smooth steering), not making contact with karts or barriers, then slowly build the pace back up.
Hi, thanks that's a very good question! I've just made a very quick write up with some photos as it's easier than trying to explain on the comments! 👍 robgoes.racing/2023/03/16/how-i-mount-my-gopro/
Definitely try different things. I've never done a true track guide video as different people will drive differently. How you carry the weight in the kart (not just your weight, but how far back you sit etc) makes a big difference too 👍
At my local K1 in a league race, I had a wreck playout similar to this but the corner wasn’t as blind so I slammed the brakes and scrubbed off some speed before I hit him but then I got sandwhiched. Luckily continued the race with some neck and ankle pain.
I think it was me you was battling with. It was my first time karting on my stag do with the boys and they made me wear a pink balaclava i had a orang bike jacket and tt helmet. The guy who spun out and caused the pile up was my best mate. He sadly passed away last year. Thanks for uploading this. It my not be us but the date is the same. Crash is the same and clothers are the same ❤
Normally were lucky that the tyre walls stay down! Apparently it's normally only when they're out of position that they lift, must have been hit before you got there! 👍🙂
Yeah, it's a bit of a pig if you're following closely and the kart in front spins out - I still hurt now! 😂 I'm not sure yet! Was planning for a Monday 342, but something came up and I couldn't get down. I'm hoping for one more session next week, as I've got a new track booked for new years eve!
I usually race at teeampsort birmingham and my PB is 46.8 which is very fast for me only being to that track like 10 times and I've only had 1 crash in an open session with the most idiotic people driving and we were going into one of the fastest corners of the track and there was about 8 karts all bunched up togther and it happened so fast I don't know exactly what happened and there was a crash and I ended up with a kart on top of mine about 15cm away from my face
Yes, it was! His sister's laces had got caught in the brake pedal, so she went straight on into the barrier at the bottom of the ramp. He ran down to check on her. Fortunately there were no other moving karts at this stage, otherwise it could have been a lot worse!
They're changing the track layout next year, so we'll have to see what they do with this corner! Agreed though, it's the most dangerous one on the track!
@@RobGoesRacing i have had collisions there 2 in fact but it is easily possible to go 2 wide round that whole section i did it in a gp2 event about 3 weeks ago
@@RobGoesRacing i did this in a 50 lapper the guy turned in on me and hes span out and that caused me to have a bad line going down putting the nail in the coffin and brusing my rib me and about 7 or 9 other memebers are in a group we want to expand and book out publics do you want to join us?
I live in the US and that my mom live in the uk and I have all of my own go karting gear and it is hard for me to get a good time because of me living in the USA but I have a 1:00 min lap time at TeamSport Newcastle and I have been racing for only half a year 😅

From 3m-6m you are hyping up an overtake that you have no right to be thinking about... you said yourself you have similar pace so you should be taking optimal lines and waiting for a spot but throughout all of this you keep taking bad lines, getting ready for an overtake that hasn't presented itself, I think if you calmed down and aimed to improve your lap time the overtake would happen by itself

Nice one! Well another thanks from me then - you guys, in fact, anyone who marshal's anywhere and allows motorsport to happen at all levels, rock! 👍
Actually he sprinted to his sister.
Yes, I thought that was the case too 👍
@@RobGoesRacing And I received a badly bruised leg in that session.
I hope you've recovered now! 👍
For anyone looking for the crash, it's at 13:50

Absolutely! I wear a simple one at the moment, and I'm sure it saved the rib from cracking. Definitely will be upgrading to "proper" karting one asap!
@@RobGoesRacingcan u give me an example of a simple and a proper rib protector? Because i don’t really understand what u mean by that

@@RobGoesRacing hahaha I just don't learn, flat out all the way, regardless 🤣🤣
Wow that's a rough one, you were in the worst position possible for that.
The karts that crash you from behind are usually the worst!
Yeah, I'm still feeling it now! I think there were 3 impacts from behind, and they all hurt! 😂

Yes, this 100%!
Big shout-out to any Motorsport marshal, without them the events wouldn't be able to run 👍
That was a bad crash, glad your okay and hope the other driver with the leg is okay too.

I dont know how you can over take people like that. Im always to shy to overtake around corners incase someone smacks into my sides.
I take a brave pill before every session 😂😂
If someone hits you, it's not your fault 😉 Usually 😂😂
Go for it, otherwise you'll get stuck behind!

Thank you! Thankfully, after a month out of a kart, I recovered just fine from this one! 👍

Hello
I went to one of these tracks and they said my driving style was too extreme. Do you have any tips for me and how I can improve my driving style
It all really depends on what they were saying was extreme, I guess.

enjoyed the overtake on cart 16 looked like a good battle and you waiting for the mistake.
Haha, thanks 👍 yeah, it was a great little battle, I just needed to be patient and I knew I'd get past!
@@RobGoesRacing I did manage to overtake someone on the outside of the ramp going up when I was there, god knows how cause I'm not exactly slim ha !
😂 that's usually my issue too - 78kg is a lot to get up the big ramp! 🤣
Glad You and everyone else involved were OK. Charlie is only 8 and has had to deal with drivers with little or no reaction time
Watching some of your lines... I have a tendency to apex too soon, giving me a bad exit. I need to work on that.

great video man just filmed a sheffild vid and have a question how did you make the lap and time overlay would love to put it in my vid!
I edit my videos in Davinci Resolve and the overlay is a custom Fusion Composition. It takes about an hour per video just to setup the lap timer!
did you wear rib protections?
Not for this. I bought one shortly after! 😂
Can someone let me know what a Herpin means (I don’t know how to spell it sorry) I’m not sure what it means

I stopped the video at 1:13 and I’m guess the crash happened at the 3 to last lap.
And this is why now I always use rib protectors.
I think Car number 3 didn't have much fault, the overtsteer and the non-grippy tires killed it on his turn, nothing anyone could do.
are your go karts u ride electric or gas power?
These are 200cc Honda powered petrol/gas karts. TeamSport are slowly moving to electric karts as the venues are refurbished.
wow that person with green helmet on running out out of his kart like that was extremely dangerous
