@@stephen300o6 Since when 2020? 2008? 1998? it's an interesting question. I am old school. Hip Hop is my era. While I don't find much of substance in the contemporary Hip Hop scene I do find complexity and interesting lyrical styles, especially how they break down geographically, memphis got a style, flint got a style. And everybody has their own lexicon parts which contribute to sort of a national lexicon. To your question: I find Kendrick Lamar has advanced the craft. Rio Da Yung OG giving Biggie vibes, but he also has his own way of delivering the hooks, punchlines, and metaphors. Lil' Wayne & 2 Chains display a good deal of lyrical craft, especially the way they deliver metaphors. That's a sample.
