- #reaction - The fact Voice Play was approached by Warframe game studio is amazing. What a great song! The boy band On-Lyne Rules! Be sure to check out the original video and give them the love they deserve!
Original video: • Party Of Your Lifetime...
Eli is the rock God!
Feel free to mic drop after that statement. So true!
we're fairly sure Layne not only swallowed a drum kit at some point, but he also swallowed a drum machine, a dj setup, a sound board, and maybe even the sound guy.
And an alien!
Ya... I'm all in for the Alien too...
@@janetdw who said the sound guy isn't one and the same as the alien? easier digestion on Layn'es part.
@@karenponchak5304 Oh my goodness... I think you're right! Makes so much sense!! 🤣🤣
Does this mean, that Layne's relative is Kirby?!! I had no idea! LOL - thanks for watching! @karenponchak5304, @janetdw, @SalymSkyeSpellwyck
"Geoff looks like he was rejected from the Breakfast Club" -- nailed it before hearing one note! I love your delight with this cover-- me, too! Layne with the frenetic boxing, Eli with the screams, Cesar and Omar bringing the Boy Band energy -- too darned fun. Happy 2025!
That is what I thought when they did In the Air Tonight. I don’t know why but he just gave me a real Judd Nelson attitude feeling with that cut off jean jacket.
Thank you so much for watching. I love the fact RUclips has allowed the music industry to be more accessible. The record labels have long since dropped the ball by chasing the all mighty dollar. I have seen one of my favorite radio stations as a kid close it's doors because it became an oldies station just because time passed. They did not hold battle of the bands; they did not find new blood like the original radio stations when rock and roll became popular. The amount of talent and music we have missed is legendary I bet.
After their cover of "Sleeping in the Cold below" the Warframe crowd approached Voiceplay to do this for their 1999 update. Layne arranged this AND his beatboxing was incredible as you said 😉. I also think they had a great time! Releasing their inner teenagers - haha. 🌹🕊
Released? Too late for that, more like rounding up like a heard of cats. XD
@ESClone27 whatever works 😄
I'm very old, not a gamer, but I've loved all of the gaming covers that they've done. The Warframe franchise contacted them right after they did Sleeping in the Cold Below. They wanted them to take the signature song for the new release, put the Voiceplay spin on the arrangement and video and release it on the same day as the update was released.
This was so much fun!!!
So glad Warframe reached out to them. This song may never have been otherwise! What a loss that would be.
You can find the original of the song on a ‘On-Lyne’ fan page And as soon as the infestation’ begins and the guys are ‘on stage’ that funkier bass line and beat make such a difference! Yes there’s some indications of ‘boy band’ style but as someone who found that kind of music a bit insipid I must say that VoicePlay’s version really slaps! And not only because of the bass & beats! Cesar had some surprise notes that led into a different place than I would expect. And Omar’s runs really spiced it up. As well as Eli’s rock scream (although I really would have loved to hear a bit of him wailing I guess it didn’t fit the genre so much)
So true, this was boy band on performance enhancement supplements and extremely high caffeinated drink. They would have been easily the number 1 boy band if they released this back in the early 90's.
@@ESClone27 😁😂 Another reactor actually asked how many energy drinks they might have drank before filming that intro to get so much 'pep'!
So happy the people from warframe knocked on voiceplays door after seeing "sleeping in the cold below" asking if they could do this absolute phenomenal tune😊. I'm not a gamer but grew up in the late 80's and early 90's. Layne catched this boyband vibes so perfectly. Whenever i listen to this i'm a freaking fangirl again having the party of MY lifetime 😂😂😂
Would that be Elvis level fangirl or The Beatles level fangirl? XD
Sensational cover of this online game! What can't VP do? They are so versatile. I love their boy band covers. What a party! Happy 2025!
I totally agree with you on that! They don't allow themselves to be pigeon toed into a specific type or genera and it's perfect!
Thanks for another VoicePlay reaction. We can tell that Eli was lead singer with a rock band for a decade or so before joining VoicePlay. Shortly after VoicePlay covered "Sleeping in the Cold Below" from Warframe (on their own), the game developers contacted VP about this opportunity to collaborate and sponsored this one. So glad that the game developers let VP do this their way and film at Pattycake. Aren't they great! I believe that VoicePlay can make just about anything acapella. So much talent!
In the words of the royal old knight from Indiana and the Last Crusade, Warframe chose wisely. XD
You enjoyed this way too much 😂😂😂
Yes, yes I did. Heh.. Thanks for watching with me!
I so love this one! For some reason the "Join us embrace us, don't ever erase us" stuck in my head the most and I swear it's not left my brain since I first heard this. They filmed this at Layne & Tony's Pattycake Productions and Tony did the choreography - always fun to watch since not all the guys are natural dancers, cough, cough. 🤣 Yes indeed those screams were Eli. He did front a heavy metal band before joining VP which always blows me away because he doesn't "look" the part. I'm so glad Warframe gave the guys creative freedom on this; it was a really smart move on their part. Thank you for reacting to this, a lot of reactors have missed it due to the timing. I'm hoping now that the holidays are over more will find it. Always love your reactions & you always find a way to make me laugh!
Thank you for watching! Despite, they did quite well with the choreography. Bounce around like a teen with an oversized ego. I know they dont have one, but they had a good time pretending!
Just FYI - I believe it was a regular rock band - not heavy metal. I can find clips of him singing previous to VoicePlay (under the name Eli Black), but nothing that I would call Heavy Metal. And he did have hair, just not terribly long and usually wearing a cap.
Thanks for your reaction 🫶🏻
This one is so catchy and it got stuck in my head for days 😅🙈
Love the arrangement and those "metal screams" by Eli... holy moly... I want more of that 🤩🥳
Sleeping in the Cold Below was the one that I woke up to running through my head.
Interestingly enough, that was one of my first reactions. So glad I did too. What an amazing learning experience this has been.
I totally agree with you. It is extremely catchy. I recommend if you catch it too much, feel free to dance up a storm to this song until you are exhausted. I may or may not have already done that. XD
Not a gamer, love the video, and loved your reaction. VP brings FUN to everything they do. I never walk away without a smile.
(Well, except with True Colors and I Can't Make You Love Me. Not smilin' songs, but beautifully done.)
You are so right. They understand the song and fully bring out the emotion that is connected to that song perfectly.
Thank you for the reaction! ❤
Thank you so much for watching!
Scremo Eli 🖤🐼🖤 be still my teenage emo heart 😂
Ha ha, so true. He must have been about 5 feet from the mic because it was there, loud and muffled at the same time. Any closer and all who watched the video would have their ears pierced via sound waves!
I didn't realize that's what your handle stood for. That's hilarious! And accurate! 😂😂
They killed this and Eli really went full on metal mode! ❤
After seeing this, I wonder if they hold Eli back by putting 1000 lbs. weights on his feet to keep him from going into god mode.
@ If you check some of their Live Tour videos (not generally on VoicePlay's channel) you will actually see Eli doing a jump from standing. He can jump (or at least could do so then) close to half his height. I keep wondering whether he did jumps for track and field when he was young. I know Geoff did.
BTW - when Eli goes exceptionally wild, we often call it "Unleash the Eli"
Love the screamo Eli! This is such a banger! Totally 90s! It's like if In Sync came out of Chernobyl! This proves that NOTHING is out of the scope of what VP can pull off! I listened to the "original of this from the game and VoicePlay's version has 300% the energy and intensity! I mean they did it ok, but I'm gonna throw down a MIller's analogy here: "On Lyne" (original) vs VP singing Party of Your Lifetime is to a toddler singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star vs Luciano Pavarotti singing Carmen! Not even in the same universe. These guys are the masters of the acapella world...and they could do equally well in any genre.
Ha ha ha, so true! They are a force to be reckoned with in the music space. Would love to hear them live. Thing is where I live may be a bit cold for them to come any time soon. Then again, the whole of the US is frozen right now.
Please tell me you’ve seen Voiceplay’s “in the air tonight”? Where you can see Layne for sure swallowed Phil Collins’ drum kit. 😂😂
I did. That was released and watched before I started reacting. It was so good!
Thank you for another great reaction to Voice Play. Did anyone else notice the key around Geoffs neck Is it an Easter egg from another video ? It seems I've seen it before.
I totally missed it. Doh! And I usually catch the unusual. Thank you for watching!
I didn't know what to think of the Big Bytes Pizza when VoicePlay dropped this. The changes from them in plain clothes to the prosthetics to the whole new (1997) look. It was crazy. Can they still do this in another 2 decades? Oh I hope so.
I feel like they will do this till they are at least 102. Laughter and music keeps the body and soul young!
@@ESClone27 Good - I'll hold you to it.
Speaking of Phil Collins I want to hear them do Trashing the Camp from Tarzan.
Can you imagine? They will need to give out hard hats for us just to watch!
