Thanks for this reaction to VoicePlay. Apparently the Warframe video game developers contacted VoicePlay quickly after VP’s February 2024 release of "Sleeping in the Cold Below" (also from the Warframe game and also with Omar) about this opportunity. They discuss the sponsorship in the outro of this video. VoicePlay has done several tunes from video games. In this, they are the in-game '90's boy band, On-Lyne. So great that Warframe allowed VP to do this their way and film at Pattycake. This cover and the Warframe 1999 game update both released last month. I'm not a gamer, but love it. I do believe that VoicePlay can cover anything.
They not only match the vocal energy of the 90s boy bands, but they did all that over compensating strutting around that they always did. The clothes are so reminiscent of the things my son wore at that point in time that I have to laugh every time I watch it. I found a Warframe fandom page that talks about why they look the way they do and the significance of the pizza and the band in the game. This is a flashback that explains some of the backstory to the game from what I can tell. The CD that Cesar has the look of the game’s version of the song on Spotify. They dressed pretty closely to the way the characters are portrayed on that page and there’s a description of each of the characters. Layne is portraying Hard Drive, the jock of the group who is strong but sensitive (but J may not agree🥕). Geoff is portraying Zeke who is both selfless and stylish. Appropriately, the character that Cesar is portraying is Drillbit and is considered the heart of the group. Eli is Packet, the best tech whiz. Omar, as guest, got the plum assignment: DJ ROM the maestro and musical genius. (so appropriate since his band is called Epic Party Band!) I also noticed your poster for Wicked. You really should check out the incredible job that Layne and Tony did at PattyCake Productions with Jessica Vosk. She played Elphaba on Broadway and she’s performing an original song that they wrote called Into the Storm. It’s kind of expressing her Inner struggle. There are cameos from different wicked witches from different productions all the way back to Margaret Hamilton back in 1939 through The Wiz and more modern variations. Geoff’s wife Kathy is the Margaret Hamilton version of the wicked Witch. Not only is it visually stunning, but Jessica has an incredible voice. It’s a shame that more people aren’t watching it because it is very powerful.
This brought back the 90s in a HUGE way! Too fun! Of course, my KIDS were getting into In Sync and Backstreet Boys, etc, in the 90s! LOL But I had fun with them and our own lil dance parties! Had these guys been recording this caliber of stuff back then, OMG, I'd have listened to them 24/7. Ya know, like I do now!
On-Lyne is a boy band in the game. They have an album of songs in it. They mutate somehow. Not sure since I’m not a gamer. If you look up the picture of the game characters you’ll freak out how close VP matches them. The only big difference is the character Eli is playing has hair. This is still stuck in my head. So SO good and a great thing that they’re starting to get sponsors.
And the personalities are so spot on too! Caesar character is the actual heart of the group. Ellie’s character is the tech wizard. It’s hilarious how close they got.
When Voiceplay did Sleeping In The Cold Below a year ago Warframe was so impressed they asked Voiceplay to do a cover of this song by their in game group On-Lyne in honor and coincide with their new video game, Warframe 1999, release Dec 13, 2024 That is who they are portraying in the video. Warframe has an audio track video of this by On-Lyne themselves with the group on the front. You can see who is portraying who by the outfits.

I'm echoing the suggestion! "into The Storm"!

That is who they are portraying in the video.

And now I want VP to cover more boyband songs 😆. They must have had fun doing this one! 🌹🕊
