I just got me an air compressor tech job!! Can’t wait for my two weeks notice to run out at my current, part time job. I’m so pumped to get going. I can’t believe I got this job. I’ve been learning everything I can
Hey Benny, Awesome video, reminds me how I got started in the compressed air industry and working my way up to the company ladder. Having that great mentor that will show you the ropes of the business is always a plus. I been in this industry for 8 years now and love every single day of it. FYI, Ingersoll Rand, Los Angeles is always hiring great service technicians LOL. Don't believe what Joe Mendez tells you. Hopefully, i see you in the field one day
Carlos Eugenio hey thanks for the comment and currently looking to get out of the company I'm at a lot of promises were made but none ever came through tiered of making myself a better employee and not a better candidate if you get what I mean. But so far after 4 years of this I love what I do just have come to hate where I'am at. And I thought IR was in Buena Park now? Or do they have 2 locations. Joe is a whole other story all on its own lol
Benny CompTech we are always hiring good service techs. You have a better upward mobility working with IR than working for a distributor. Our tech hub is in Buena Park and our corporate office is in Santa Fe Springs. If your serious let me know I can introduce you to our service manager.
I feel you bro. I'm a service technician in my early twenties (23) and that's how I've learned. I rode around with a master for a year and then got sent on my own. I feel it's the only way you can really learn. School of Hard Knocks. I'm also driving around in the newest vehicle. 2016 Sprinter. Haha
Hi Benny I'm a compressor service tech in the UK, my situation similar to yours apart from started with electrical work and got into compressors aged 30 now 49 still in the same company. Great team spirit, manufacturers courses are good but don't help that much with fault finding. My biggest grip is the manufacturers don't often admit they have a known fault with a machine, they often make it out thats its just your company that reports the same faults!! Theres a lot of just getting on with it and learning from successes and failures. In a small company you can't hide anything especially if you've messed up! Thanks for the videos enjoyed watching.
Paul Brayshaw thanks so much for your time and input and I couldn't agree more there is no training a manufacturer can offer that is useful when it comes to troubleshooting the only thing the certification is good for is if you leave the company for another it just looks good on you to have them but they don't really make you any better. Thanks for watching!
Hell ya. My new service truck will be ready in January. I'm a truck mechanic though. Got a 4 door crew cab this time! Open service bed this time. I hated the enclosed service bodies.
I had plumbing experience was going to school at first taking classes in city water distribution then landed this job and just been putting all my attention and effort to it
Hey benny please help me out here, I purchase this husky 80 gallon air tank ONly, no motor or pump, this unit was a single stage 5hp, the tank itself is rated at 175psi max, I want to build a 2 stage 5hp pump and motor, since 2 stage pumps put out 175psi max, will I be ok pushing the tank to its max rated psi? or should I regulate the pressure switch to cut out at a lower PSI, maybe up to 165??
Assy Mcgee tanks will have the rating stamped on them such as in your case but in reality they can handle 4x the rated pressure it’s a liability thing for manufactures so they go over kill when it comes to pressure handling and way undersized on the marked specs of the pressures vessel can handle to cover their ass. So you should be good I wouldn’t worry about it at all
My Father always told me your reputation will keep you in a job. It's very hard to find qualified technicians who know how to work on equipment in general. I've been looking for a long time to be the right fit for our company.
Francisco Villafana can be depending on who your employer is. Currently where I’m employed I’ve been working 50-60 hours a weeks for like the past 5 months
@@bennycomptech3939 I recently got picked up. I live in your area bro. I was wondering if I can dm you some questions I'm going from refrigeration to air compressors and im a but worried about not having overtime
Francisco Villafana if your working with Atlas Copco with a factory customer service center directly with the manufacturer! You bet your sweet ass you’ll work OT!😂 I can no longer help you though because I work directly for Ingersoll Rand now lol JK it’s all good we’re just employed by two of the biggest competitors in the industry!
It depends on where your at and how much you know. If you can make the company good money you’ll be payed more. The market is also very competitive for good techs. But I know guys who make as high as $50 - $60 an hour. Even sales guys I’ve met some who make as much $140,000 a year there’s just so many variables. As for me it pays well I get payed hourly as well commission for up selling and bonuses for having so many billable hours.
Kyotic x starting pay can drastically vary as well I mean when I started out I was only making $9 an hour! And now that the company has grown so much we had a new guy just start with us 2 weeks ago who is younger than me and they started him at $17 an hour so when company’s are bigger and can afford to pay their guys more most do. Yeah there is always greedy bosses but in larger companies that take care of their guys they pay more if you ever can say you go do an interview or something see if you talk to the techs and see how they like working there what kinda crap they have to put up with hows the pay cause you can do the same job for two different companies and one may pay this amount and another may pay another amount so do your research I’ve even come across other companies who are willing to pay me more but the working conditions suck and there’s no guarantee you’ll last long so situations like that it’s not worth the move just for a few bucks more so try and get some info on the places you may end up working is my best advice
Kyotic x how much are you making now as an hvac tech? Good news for you though as an hvac tech you WILL do refrigeration work in the compressor industry we as well as everyone else in the world uses refrigerated air dryers to separate moister in the compressed air to protect equipment and products
