I really appreciated this video. It's not just the basics that most generally cover, but....."Birthing People"???? We are MOTHERS and WOMEN. Straight up.
I have T1D, will be induced tomorrow at 39+1w. I’ve been hand expressing colostrum for the past 3 weeks to create a little stash for my newborn in case of hypoglycaemia (recommended by my midwife and obgyn). I will strongly recommend everyone tries it before delivery in order to figure it out before really needing it. It took me a few days to understand how to properly perform it but I’m now very proud of the stash I created for my little one and also skilled enough to be able to support my baby’s needs in case.
Breastfeeding should not hurt. PERIODT 👏🏼👏🏼 Yas! Thank you for that! When I had my 1st baby in February 2020, the nurse latched her for the 1st time after delivery and I said “ow that hurts” “I need to try again” And the nurse was like “oh that’s normal in the beginning” And I was like “uhh no it’s not” and she helped me latch again and it felt so much better! (I have a background in postpartum nursing, so I knew what I was talking about lol)
I love breastfeeding, my journey has been amazing. The bond I feel with my little guy when nursing him is incredible! Couldn't imagine it any other way =] My son is 14 months and our nursing journey continues!
The thing that amazed me most was recently I found out you can breast feed an adopted baby too, apparently it is a lot of work to establish a supply but as a person who is going to be adopting in the future I found this amazing our bodies can do this.
Im grateful for your videos I watched them all throughout my pregnancy and now my baby boy is finally here. These Breastfeeding videos have been a life saver!
Also, I have recommended sooooooo so so many women to your channel. You have such wonderful content. You helped me through my own pregnancy journey this last year, and I’m so grateful for you!
I’m so glad I went to a lactation consultant a few times!!! It was so helpful! My first baby was so easy with breastfeeding but my second has been way more difficult.
Yass!! I expected the worst nipple pain, but I just had my first and barely had a little soreness in the beginning 🤷🏻♀️ I love breastfeeding and plan to do it at least until my daughter is a year 💛💛
This is so encouraging! It took me and my baby about 2 weeks to get the hang of it, so I was super sore. Hoping that next time I’ll get the hang of it faster. Great job, mama! 😊
Thank you so much I literally listen to your videos because I think these entire pregnancy process is nothing but pain you are putting my mind at so much ease it's not even funny 😭😭😭
At 31 weeks, and gathering all of the breastfeeding and pumping supplies I think I could possibly need. Last thing I'll want to do is go to Target at any point in the first month. Definitely using that discount!
Such an interesting video! My baby is 10 weeks old, and I've finally started to enjoy breastfeeding after struggling through a lot of pain and discomfort. Lactation consultants are really expensive where I live - I saw one who didn't really help, and haven't wanted to spend more money in case another one also couldn't help. I've been so close to giving up so many times, but now I'm so, so glad I didn't ☺
something that helped me with my baby's tongue tie before it was released was seeing a lactation consultant through the WIC program ! I didn't even qualify for WIC but they still helped me and gave me a free modela pump set and nipple sheilds and other goodies !!
I breastfed my first until he naturally weaned around 3, now pregnant again and trying to get some refresher on things since I’m 4 years out of the newborn phase!
When my son started biting, I just gently disconnected him and made him wait about 30-45 seconds and then relatched. Only had to do it a handful of times and never had him bite again even with a full mouth of teeth!
Get a Haakka (spelling? ) they are great to catch your breastmilk. I still have thr absorbent pads for certain outfits but these collection cups were a game changer!
Thank you for posting this! I’m learning so much from your videos. I’m currently 35w 4d and haven’t been well enough to go to any antenatal classes so all I’ve learned so far has been from people online
Watching while breastfeeding & matches what my consultant told me. Great video, instant subscribe! First I've seen from you. Can't wait to explore more!
I've nearly made it to a year and just to say your content has helped SO Much on this journey. One painful part of nursing for me has been that sudden stretch and unlatch when my own nosey girl whips her head away, mostly been grand though and uneventful 🤣 Are you going to go through weaning? Not entirely sure how our stopping is going to look 😕
Fantastic video! ❤️ In Germany we encourage pregnant people, even those are not planning to breastfeed, to start hand expressing colostrum at 36-37 weeks of pregnancy. Pharmacies provide special kits for collecting and safely storing the colostrum until baby arrives. For People diagnosed with gestational diabetes, we try even harder to encourage them to do it, as to have some extra milk to give to baby to help with that potential baby low blood sugar after birth.
Do you have much experience with dysphoric milk ejection reflex? I experienced it with my son the whole 6 months I breastfed, and now that we are expecting again in just a few short weeks I've been trying to find more info on it but google isn't the best help. Wondering if it's a recurrent problem and if I can expect to deal with it again ?
Could you do a video on preterm labor like 28 weeks? I just went into preterm labor and now I’m hospitalized till either my water breaks or I’m induced. It’s been really hard maybe there are other mamas going through this too. Or maybe a video on how to get through a long hospital stay in the NICU or things like that?
Within a few days after having my first baby I got golf ball sized swollen balls in my armpits. I had no idea that milk glands went that high and thought I was dying and had cancer!
I am currently bf my 9 month old and she is really getting into crazy positions while feeding. So thank you for touching on that topic. Love your videos and thanks again for all the info. God bless.
They really do some crazy moves at that age! Last night Rosie unlatched and then threw herself backwards on the bed. Dang near hit her head on the wall. She was fast asleep 😂😂
This video makes Me miss breat feeding!😭😭 I had to stop at 3m pp after gallbladder surgery, my supply completely dropped. I was pospitalized for a week for chronic prancriatites and jaundice due to my ducts being clogged and my son had to use a bottle while I was away. When I came back he was rejecting the breast and my supply had dropped that I just stopped I couldn't do it anymore and I had to go back to work full time 😥 now that he's 8months and the formula shortage is so bad I wish all that wouldn't of happened. I don't think my breast were as responsive to the hospitals pump and that played a small roll. I wish I would of had my husband bring in my own pump to use and I just power pumped the whole time in the hospital to protect my supply.
After the age of 1 the breastfeeding relationship can continue for as long as both parties are ok with it and enjoying it. But when one party is done, it’s time to wean. The natural age of weaning is around 4, but for me personally I think I’ll wean Rosie around 2. But it’ll also be more of a game-time decision
Baby is 2 weeks old, and I thought they were latching and feeding well, but they aren't gaining weight as quickly as they should (though they are producing plenty of wet/poopy diapers throughout the day). Should their lips look swollen after feeding? I didn't think anything of it until yesterday.
I previously had my nipples pierced. My leaking can get crazy sometimes. Baby girl is currently in the always distracted phase as well. She likes to unlatch mid letdown and I am leaking from 3 different directions 🤣
My baby is so nice bhen it comea to breastfeeding - she learnt it quite fast, so I was dire for about 4 days in the beginning. Then she later began biting a little, at about 4-5 months, but I was somehow able to explain to her that it hurt, so she stopped whenever I said "ouch!". Now she has lots of teeth, but I don't feel them during breast feeding at all, unless she decides to bite me 😋
I just had my second 2 days ago and I’m still in the hospital (she came 3 weeks early so they wanted to observe her for longer). One thing that keeps freaking out lactation is how much colostrum I’m making. I’m hand expressing 7-8mls to syringe feed when she’s too sleepy to latch. Apparently that’s a lot, we’re guessing it’s because I just weaned my first 6 weeks ago (he’s 16 months). 🤷🏼♀️ thought maybe I stumbled on a breastfeeding fun fact
Thank you for this! I'm almost 37 weeks with my first baby. Do you recommend emptying one breast per feeding or switching sides during a feeding? I'm worried about mastitis and want to do what I can to prevent it. Thank you! Love your videos!
I have a video about clogged ducts and mastitis you should check out. I would focus on dinner and dessert. Your first side should feel empty before switching. Your next side might not get as fully drained but you’ll switch on the next feet you second side become dinner.
my daughter is 3 months old and cannot empty a full breast yet. I use an app to record how long she's eaten and to remember what was my last breast. I also feared mastasis so I stopped pumping early on and let my baby lead. I haven't had any issues yet! I only pump when I'm engorged or away from her. I hope this helps!
Thank you for your wonderful content. Breastfeeding was super hard for me for a few months. Cracked and bleeding nipples from the start, mastitis a week postpartum, and continued nipple pain even with IBCLC lactation support, a good latch and cleared mastitis. This led to diagnosis of yeast mastitis and 2 weeks on diflucan which made me feel like death. Even after that I continued to have really sensitive nipples and could only tolerate breastfeeding 1-2 times per day. At that point I was finally diagnosed with Raynaud’s phenomenon. Knowledge is power and learning how to deal with the vasospasm helped to be able to transition to exclusive breastfeeding around 12 weeks.
Wow, that is A LOT! Vasospasms are no joke. I’ve dealt with them too thanks to Rosie’s ties. I’m so glad you found the info to make things comfortable and meet your feeding goals!
What techniques did you use to help with the vasospasms? I had a horrible experience trying to breast feed my son. It felt like his gums chomping down and then the nipple pain/spasms in between feedings. Seeing a lactation consultant didn't help. I ended up just pumping. Hoping it will go better with the next baby! 🙏
Honestly our biggest fix was releasing her tongue tie. So when the tongue is working well the gums aren’t holding onto the nipple. Way less vasospasms! I’ve also heard wool nipple pads can work really well as well as keeping the room warm and a cardigan handy
I haven't had any issues breast feeding so far (baby is 9 months and still latched) except for the biting when she got her first teeth😭 baby got her first teeth break through at 3 months and she literally bruised one of my nipples from how hard she bit me lol
I m at my 3rd weeks of postpartum. Started pumping at 3rd days. Now m tired of excessive milk supply. Need to pump or breastfeed in 2 hours, otherwise it comes out by itself. It's painful and makes boobs excessively large 😫
Early pumping tells your body to make more milk! If you want to down-regulate your supply, I would advice working with an IBCLC to make that plan a reality. I’m so sorry you’re in pain. That isn’t fun at all!
Exclusively pumping for 7 months now. My daughter was 11 weeks early. My nipples go through phases no pain to omg. I wonder does pumping affect ovulation and periods? I know exclusively bf can delay both is it the same for pumping? My periods are so irregular 7 months pp

Please help me I have large breasts and I do 15 minutes on each side but I never feel drained after feedings I am still super full and I can not keep him awake to feed he is falling asleep instantaneously he is 3 months old is this normal he wants to eat every two hours for his 2nd month but now he wants to eat every hour is this normal?
I've found it more helpful to stay on one side, until it feels empty. That enables baby to get all of the fatty milk that is rich in calories. The idea of 15 minutes per side works great for some people, but there are lots of reasons why it's not for everyone. Sometimes babies are more hungry, because they're going through a growth spurt. Falling asleep can be a sign that he's full. If there are lots of good swallows, he relaxes, etc., he may just be eating quickly. Really? I was told any sort of stimulation to your nipples can cause contractions and you to possibly go into labor.
I really appreciate you, thank you for what you do. 😊
