  • It's Tutorial Tuesday and today we're going through how to use the Healing Brush and the Cloning Brush in Capture One. These have both been updated recently and are a super powerful way to edit your photos allowing you to remove things from your photos as well as doing things like skin retouching.

Are you using Capture One? What would you like to see in a future Capture One tutorial?

Great Capture One tutorial series. I'm new to Capture One and your videos have been very helpful. I'd be interested to learn how to touch-up grey hair roots.

OMG SO HELPFUL! Thank you!! I was getting so frustrated but watching your video made the process so much easier!

Good stuff, but always do healing before any cropping of the image. C1 will sometimes pick a replacement area from outside of the cropped area if you crop first, which means if it makes a mistake (it often does) you cannot move the selection point.

      That's a really great point Martin :-)

Thank you so much for this series! You are to the point and explain everything well while keeping it interesting! I've had lightroom 4 for many years and recently got a new mac which I can no longer use the original software on. I came across capture one and now your video series and this has given me a good basis to move on from. I'd love to see a video on bulk editing. (I've not organised my photos for a few years and a lot to go through, many underexposed photos etc! Whoops!)

Another idea for a (C1 related) tutorial: External apps that complement C1 i.e. similar to Photoshop complements Lightroom.
Most people chose programs like C1 to get away from the subscription only based options of Adobe and there are some features that are not available in C1 nor are they likely to be in their upcoming v21 version, so it would be good to see some tutorials using the most popular complimentary product Affinity Photo for things like stacking (focus/pano), the workflow between the two apps and some more complex task most commonly used by photographers which may be better accomplished in the other complimentary app.
It's just an idea and I don't know if you personally use Affinity, but given that you are keen on C1 it's possible you tried Photoshop alternatives as well.

I bought this software for $170 from bandh cuz of your videos... I used to be kinda anti-editing (not that I mind other people doing it, i just didn't wanna invest the time into learning and wanted to use stuff straight from my camera) but I've really been enjoying learning it... bought the software last night, haven't stopped playing with it other than sleeping for 4 hours. lol

After you make healing or cloning adjustments in a new layer, do you just save that layer and it becomes your new photo? Thanks!

I can't figure out how to change the size of the healing brush :/
I'm horse shit at editing softwares... but put me into CAD/3D space... I feel like a jedi.

Suggest you stop shouting and keep your hands down - and then this might actually be less annoying. When you calm down its worth watching.
