      Not Really. At 2:16 you can see that all of them belonged together and that they voluntarily entered that danger zone, probably for watching the spectacle. It's not that that driver showed up just in time from somewhere to save some strangers that got into problems. He was the guy bringing those people close to danger in the first place.

    All I have to say to the folks who are watching this video; go over to FNN311, In the description to every video there is a text that is in japanese and translated into english + the video has subtitles and permission from the people actually filming to use the fotage! Best part is all that garbage is swept out into the ocean and you would think that Japan would be out there preventing their trash from becoming a floating garbage island. But nope, they are to busy pumping radioactive water into the ocean and fishing the whales into extinction. So no time for helping the ocean only time for killing it. They get what they deserve and if they all washed away one day i would miss anime but for the greater good i would feel better.

    I’m so glad the four workers we saw made it out! When I saw two climb on the truck at first, I was so afraid they weren’t going to make it. Had they been further up the coast, I don’t think they would have. So many underestimated this tsunami because it looked so non-threatening at first. I hope when the earth groans again (and I believe it will), our Japanese friends and neighbors will move to safety quicker. God bless them all.

      @@Moeskillzful • Best I remember, there were multiple videos made by different people from different angles. (It took me over a month to view hundreds of them, and I don’t think I’ve scratched the surface, so to speak.) So there was at least one other video showing them getting out of it. When you think about it, the tens of thousands of casualties is mind-boggling. And of those, if memory serves, around 3,300 are still missing and presumed carried out to sea. Many died in tsunami shelters built high up but unfortunately not high enough. They thought they were safe in those and the thought of them being inundated is just heartbreaking.

    • @andrewbreen7252
      @andrewbreen7252 3 года назад +1

      @@Diana_L. That seems to be the work of the sea walls, they absorb a lot of impact of the wave before it gets a chance to crest. If you watch videos from the 2004 tsunami in Thailand and Sri Lanka (no videos from Indonesia since it obliterated everything including anyone taking a video) you’ll see the Hollywood-like wave. The sea walls may have paled in comparison to this wave but they did give people extra time to react. I guess a downside is without seeing the wave, you might think it’s not going to get much worse. As Japan builds higher sea walls there is some opposition from those who would prefer to see the wave and react quickly (and also see a stronger contraction of the ocean without a sea wall)

    • @Michelle-ce1qh
      @Michelle-ce1qh 3 года назад

      @@andrewbreen7252 oh you're right! Thailand DID have those huge waves. I didn't realize the sea walls helped as much as they did. Compared to the waves rolling into Japan they seemed so insignificant. But then again, that WAS a tsunami of insane proportions.

    I remember during the Indonesian tsunami, when newspapers were still a thing, for days and days every front page headline was the updated death count. It was terrifying. In 2011 newspapers weren’t as prevalent, but I’m sure the headlines would have been similar. So sad.

      those children from the local school were moved from the aquarium during post-tremors. they all made it to higher ground, safely, and survived. there is a 5 minute blurb in the documentary about those very children xx

    It was just the happiest moment when we could watch the four (4) men walk away, from the Flat Bed Truck, and the Heavy Equipment Crane. From climbing on their respective "roof's" to walking away, can you imagine how relieved and grateful they were. And all of us watching were grateful as well. Amazing...the "whim" of the destruction.

      They were trapped. The truck picked up the tractor driver and tried to find a way out hence he ended up doing a circle. The only way out was already under water with no depth meter and all the debri and when they realised the water from their only exit was coming at them like a flash flood, they got on top of the truck. So very lucky to have escaped

    Be sure to evacuate once when it is announced that there is a possibility of a tsunami. This is advice because I experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake. If we evacuated and nothing happened, we could just say that everyone was happy. You can't escape anymore when you think it's dangerous.

    It's just insane. The water comes slowly but never stops, it keeps pushing, pushing and pushing and with no way out it starts to go up quickly.It's incredible how the seawall it's useless in this situation, not to mention it dropped about 1-2 meters in some places. Maybe in some places the water level was 15 meters high and the seawalls were 16 but because the seawalls dropped many places were flooded. I guess no one expected this to happen, experts didn't expect the entire Japanese Plate to relax stress by dropping a whole meter or more.
