The car was pretty fast for a boat with a small 2V engine for its time. I own one and I don’t think the engine is the problem, it’s just the transmission and gearing and all that that hurts it’s speed.
It would certainly be much faster! My only issue with the Fire/GM 10R/L80s is they seem to have bad reliability problems. From what I hear, I think it’s just software, but as long as they get them 1/2 as reliable as the 4R75, I could handle that. They’re great transmissions as long as they don’t get beaten up too bad. Sadly, a lot of them did, and the transmissions got blamed for them. But the 4R70/75s are the real reason the crown Vic was slow. Sure, the 4.6L 2V was underpowered, but not as much as people think. The Mustangs with the manual and the 2V moved really damn good, and there’s only about a 700 lb weight difference (I think). All I want is a V8 if they bring the Vic back. I’d orgasm if they put the 7.3L Godzilla in it lmao
Damn that cop can drive! These crown vics are great handling cars but they're pretty underpowered and heavy so I'm super impressed he kept it sliding like that.
@@the.rico.network oh yeah take a sharp curve at 40 or 50 and stear nothing happens just pushes the front end out from under it especially if you dont let off the gas they really understeer with your foot in it cause they dont have enough torque to break the back tires loose unless you flick it hard
These things are fat pigs and like everyone has said here it either understeers or oversteers when you’re really pushing the car hard into corners which is a terrible handling characteristic, I personally owned one of these and it was the cop car version and it still had a shit ton of body roll because they raise it 2” from the factory to clear curbs better and I also had bulletproof doors on mine so that doesn’t help either but yea these things do not handle well at all in stock form police spec
250hp and 140 miles aren't slow. The 4.8l V8 are from a Mustang witch very good for panthers. Yeah, the vic needs near 6 seconds to reach 100 miles but he can drive high speed for long times and don't get tired or damaged!
I watched a local Sheriff Department and State Police at a track like this once. It was built on a former industrial site that had lots of roads on the property etc. Mainly I remember one thing....burning brake pad smell. It was quite strong.
The crown vic didn't necessarily have to have a siren you know it's the police when you hear that angry 4.6 winding up especially ones that howl at redline and have that loud whine the alternator clutch dose floored spinning up and down at shifts and can't beat that sound it's a rush the 06s and 08s have always been my favorite years they seem slower and sound better the slower they are the better they sound winding up in first gear the only ford that stands up the built Ford tough saying. They may be slow but the old 4.6 dose its damndest to haul the vic and thousand pounds of police equipment and a cop with a dozen Krispy Kremes In his gut. These old 2v modular 4.6s where absolutely indestructible. Best engine ford ever made. And that sound is just special reminds me of being a little kid hearing the old crown vics taking off and hearing that belt squeak at shifts before the loud whining clutch spin down stopped the belt chirp in 2005
It wasn't from the factory all crown vic police interceptors had the modular 2v 4.6 ( aka Triton v8) . Not for speed but reliability the 4.6 was the toughest engine ford had and sounds amazing the mustang police service package had 5.0s that's the only factory police car that had them except for the 80s and early 90s Ltd crown vics they had 5.0s. Not the final body style crown vic 98-11 all had the good ole reliable 4.6
The crown vics arent the fastest cop cars but they have been tearing up the streets for 30 years and are still going strong for many places 11 years after they ended production
They aren't slow either. Just a middle point... 250hp 140 miles, 6 seconds to 100 miles but the vic can drive high speed for long times, without being damaged or tired. For a cop car very good👍
That reverse 180 was impressive, I’ve owned two grand marquis wich are practically the same car and it was a bitch to get them to do that even half as well
They are simmilar but not the same, even the civillian model of the crown vic is not the same. The Interceptor uses different suspension and tighter steering, The one i have will do a full circle in just over the lingth of the car. Most stock models take twice as much room to turn around.
