    It's the Young Frankenstein movie theme song. I love playing that! Obligatos are always my favorite strings. Thanks for all these comparison videos. Very helpful. Please keep doing more of them.😊

    I was curious how do the Obligatos compare with Pirastro Tonica?

    • @Fiddlershop
      @Fiddlershop  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for watching. Great question! The Tonicas re well balanced when it comes to brightness, neither too bight, nor too mellow. They also have a good amount of ring, which I quite like about them and they are soft so they are much easier on your fingers than average strings. The Obligato are much warmer and mellower compared to the Tonica Pirastro and only become more so after continuous use

      I ordered oliv resin due to this suggestion for my obligato strings. I recently removed the Evah Pirazzi because they were was too bright and I could not handle the tension in my fingers and was sliding up and down (slippery surface), Now lacking in clarity a bit so searching to improve. On my violin the sound is warmer on the A and D when using this rosin.Therefore, loved it at first. However, I noticed a large change in respons, especially on the G string. It was much slower than I am used too. After switching again to the Bernardel there was a significant improvement, in respons as well as clarity. So for me the combination obligato and Bernardel was better. Maybe I change to the Pirazzi Gold strings, however I fear it will be as slippery under the fingers as the normal Evah P?

  • @ThomasTVP
    @ThomasTVP 3 года назад +5

    "Introspective"is the right word for these strings. They have a nice warmth and complexity, but they surely lack power compared to their almost identically priced "sister" strings, the Evah Pirazzi (green). That is why most violin makers put Evah strings on their expensive instruments during music instrument fairs. ;) - The Obligato strings wouldn't be the right choice for the violin you're playing in the video, as that one doesn't have a lot of power. But they're perfect for toning down a big, edgy-sounding instrument in a classy manner.

    My violin is a very LOUD and Bright Gliga Guenari style and I put on Infeld Reds but i didnt notice any difference. So now I might try Obligatos. Maybe there is nothing I can do for this violin. The Gliga Guenari violin is a bit bigger than normal violin. So it is louder and is very Bright
