Finishing the Camino de Levante in September, arriving in Santiago on October 1st. Will try to drop in to visit. Buen Camino, Dave Murray, Ireland. Thank you for the update Ivar. 😊
Hello, Ivar! Thank you for your video and update. I love seeing the Cathedral and hearing the bagpipes. It brings back great memories from my first Camino in 2021. I am looking forward to muy second Camino in October. All the best to you!
Thanks Ivar, informative as always and ditto re seeing the Square and hearing the pipes. You mention a September 'bubble' of pilgrims, do you have any indication of this happening this year or when? I presume pilgrims starting from SJPdP in early Sept. I am set to finish the Frances, starting from Ponferrada on 21st Sept.. I would consider an alternate route e.g. Invierno to avoid the bubble if needed.
It usually happens when many start at the same time from SJPP. Normally in the beginning of September, related to a weekend and/or holiday. I have not checked the calendar to see when this might happen. If you chose to start from SJPP some time mid-week with no holidays that week, you might have a good chance to avoid this.
Thanks, Ivar! What feedback are you getting for the Portuguese? It seems the increase in pilgrims in one of the 3 Portuguese routes is greater than in any other routes. I will start in Lisbon in late September and I’m a little worried because the infrastructure always takes a while to adjust to the increased numbers. Thanks!
Yes, the Portugues has been busier. I don't think you will see this before Porto. You might see it from Tui and/or Pontevedra... but by the time you get there it will be October.. so would not worry too much about it.
I wish they would move the bagpipes on heard across the square. just a nice tranquil entry and a wonder around in silence with the vibe of the crowd would be appreciated. Tx for the camino update.
The Altus is referred to as a raincoat a jacket and a poncho, are the sleeves well defined? Ponchos aren't usually very good in the rain if you walk with poles but anything with a proper sleeve is ok. Ive been looking for one of these for ages.

@@primocustodio321 buen camino!
Thanks Ivar, Lovely weathe there. 4000 is a lot ! I hope it won't cause any inconveniences for the locals.
The noise when the groups walk in is the biggest problem. But overall it is not that bad.
Thanks Ivar,

Goodness where do 4,000 new arrivals stay? Incredible really.
The outskirts of Santiago have some large hotels with many beds :-)
