Oh wow thank god you talked us the whole way around. From someone who can crochet to making a complete babies blanket, I thank you so much. Very easy to follow and you explain things so well.
Thank you for making this so easy I watched other videos before I saw yours and I gave up because they made it so difficult to follow. Your videos have made it possible for me to learn so many new stitches as I am new to crochet. Thanks again
+Bella Coco I have been watching you make the circle into a sq. for hours. I wish I could say it was easy, It was not. I am left handed and could not reverse and make it work, perhaps if the directions were written out I could follow, I have been teaching my self in reverse for years, but cannot get the circle into a sq.
Elayne hey have you tried looking at Maddie’s crochet channel she normally has a lefty that does tutorials and if she doesn’t have an African flower you can ask for her to do one she listens to request..
Thanks for this. Love your tutorials. Particularly like the explanation in both US and UK terms - I'm used to mixing and matching! I made another round of (UK) triples with the corners as 2 triples in chain space, ch3, 2 triples then tr in ev stitch. Just to add more body. Made it in fingering weight. Great project to use up scraps!
I have completed my beautiful African flower squares. Such clear, perfectly demonstrated instructions. I came across this video tutorial on Pinterest. Much gratitude. Could the tutorial please also be provided on how to attach the squares to make them now into a blanket/quilt? Will be much appreciated.
super pretty, love it and never thought I would be able to make anything so lovely but thanks to your w=brilliant tutorial Sarah-Jane it's been a piece of cake. thank you so much xx
Thank you very much for this tutorial, just amazing to follow.Have decided to make a blanket but can't decide on which way to join them up...there are so many options.Any ideas would be welcome...thank you again.😃
I love this video, it's been very helpful! But I would appreciate the pattern being written out like the African flower is on your blog. Thank, keep up the good work!
I love your tutorial on the african flower, but I am thinking that it would be nice to maybe make it in to a hat. The flower would be a nice touch to the top. Could you maybe show us how to make the flower into a circle and maybe then to a hat of some sort? I would really love it. I am quite new to crocheting so any tips are helpful.
Should I have the same number of stitches on each of the four edges at the end? I thought I followed very carefully but I have 2 x 13 sts and 2 x 10! How many should there be? Thank you so much for a lovely pattern.
You’re welcome 😊 You should find at the end that two sides have 13 stitches and two have 11 stitches - it’s not possible to have them all the same due to the shape of the African flower 😊
Thanks for this tutorial - very useful!! I have made the African flower hexagon blanket and now trying to finish off with the border. Have made half African flower hexagons for two of the blanket edges but now have an odd shape down the other two edges. Can I use this pattern to ‘straighten’ the border so I don’t end up with a jagged edge. Do you perhaps have a tutorial?
You're welcome 😊 Yes, you can use stitches of different heights to straighten out the edge in the same way as I show here; you can also see how I do this in my ripple blanket tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/RBa5WbPXPBk/видео.html This is obviously a different pattern but the principle is the same 😊
Ive made the square and want to make it bigger how can i add more rows on last row? Ill appreciate a reply thank you so much for great tutorials...and thank you for going all around last row that was a saver as i was battling lol
Once you’ve turned the flower into a square you can keep on adding rounds by working a treble crochet (UK) into each stitch along, and (2 tr, ch2, 2 tr) into each corner space 😊
I want to make my African Flowers square, some with pink n others with white borders exactly like yours, what colour would you recommend i should use to join them? Can i do a 'join as you go' method?
Here is the link for the African flower Part 1 & 2 :- ruclips.net/video/hfbKOMj22j0/видео.html and Part 2:- ruclips.net/video/VaI5ZLIVFE0/видео.html :)
Hi Sarah I would really like you to show us how to do a chevron blanket using treble crochet, I've seen this done but it would be so much easier to follow with watching one of your videos. Please can you do this for me, I've learnt quite a bit by watching your you tube videos.
Hi Bella, I only discovered you yesterday on here and i have learnt so much already, thank you for your tutorials, you are fantastic :-) I am now busy making lots of African Flower Squares....x #hookedoncrochet #handmade
These are very pretty, I look forward to making a blanket out of these. Do you have written out instructions of the African flower/turning them into squares by any chance or just these videos? Thanks!
Hi! Thank you for your African flower tutorial... it's now my favourite granny non-square! However, despite want ting to "square" my African Flowers I can't get the hang of this tutorial...maybe because I am left handed... Please help!
Hello. Thank you for such a clear tutorial. I love it. Could you please help me with how yarn n each color I need to complete an afghan 52 x 70? Thank you very much.
Hi Sharon, i'm afraid i can't advise on that as it depends on what yarn you use, your personal tension and hook size etc. I would suggest you do a swatch and calculate from that. Hope this helps Sarah-Jayne
Here is a link which maybe of help to you - ruclips.net/video/6u-h8mb-nJY/видео.html. I have lots of different videos on how to join Granny Squares if this one is not suitable. Just search Bella coco joining granny squares on youtube and all the different ones will come up and you can go though to see which one is suitable. Let me know how you get on :)
Would you please show how to use this beautiful square as the center of a granny square blanket?. My son's girlfriend wants a blanket in hot pink and black. I would like to make the center square. Color suggestions for the flower center are also welcome. Thank you for a wonderful set of videos.
I think so. You might try going to the store and holding the colors you want together. That might give you a better idea along with a visual. You're also not committed to your colors until you actually buy the yarn. Good luck! Would love to see how it turns out 😀
I can't get this to work no matter what I do. I've tried 11 times this afternoon. I just don't understand where I'm going wrong. There are 2 corners of the hexagonal that stick out into the lines of the square ☹ very frustrated
If you have more stitches you can still use the same technique, only you will need to work more of each stitch. For example, instead of working one half treble, you could work two, etc. It will take some trial and error to get it exactly right but you should be able to follow the basic principles in this same way 😊
I have lots of tutorials on joining squares on my channel 😊 A video with some simple techniques can be found here: ruclips.net/video/QEwH2YS9cH4/видео.html
Hi carina I have a tutorial on how to join granny squares if that's any help to you:- ruclips.net/video/NUGb9pIcsXE/видео.html or ruclips.net/video/6INNQBX4cpo/видео.html :)
Love your video I'm just getting into crochet your videos Are really clear thanks for making this video ! How much squares do I need to make a full blanket ? Is 80 squares to much ?
For me, she actually repeated a step verbally w/o actually performing the stitch. You should do two videos, one for those in America for better understanding. I’m not looking to hear that it was no problem for others, just voicing my frustration in following this video.

Do you have a tutorial on how to start this if you're NOT changing colors for the last round? like the square you showed first?
If you’re using the same colour you can slip stitch across to the starting place and then follow the tutorial the same 😊

mint green or baby blue would stand out nicely with the hot pink and black :-)

Can't I make an afghan with the hexagon shape? I like it better than a square.
yes you can (:
