I have had my nsx for ten years now. I hope to never have to sell it. 170k miles and counting...and driving it for me, never gets old. ~98'NSX-T.

I'd love to hear more about why the one guy hated the 355? it's my dream car, I know the horror stories behind it and I know it'd be wise to save up and try for 360/430 but I still have always loved the 355, almost as long as the nsx.

dlynes My uncle owns the berlinetta model of the 355..There aren't any extreme horror stories with it, except the obvious if your check engine light comes on. Also the sticky dash is a tad annoying.

The NSX is like the Miata of supercars; it's more about the actual driving experience instead of the speed.

Love the NSX. Live in Phoenix. A few people in my area own the NSX. If you can't tell by my pic, I had an S2k, LOVE the NSX. Love the S2K. Whenever I see one of those guys near me driving their NSX I think I'm seeing a Lambo coming towards me or behind me before I realize, oh, it's an NSX! Amazing how the styling stuck so well over the years.
I'm now driving a STI. Still love the S2K. Still love, probably even more, the NSX. Loving the STI. But that's besides the point. Point is, it's amazing how great a car they made, how great they look, for how old they are. May be one of the greats in car history.

I absolutely LOVE this car !!!
Am on my second one now (unfortunately), but after the first I simply NEEDED to get another one. Absolutely fantastic to drive and with a few mods still very fast.
Drives easy, has an amazing quality, and is pretty practical as well and still turns heads. I slowly am evolving my own NSX, making it a little better bit by bit. Drive on the streets as well as the track and the car is simply phenomenal.

I owned 2 Acura NSXs, both 2000 models. The first one was new in 2000 and stopped my order for my 1999 Ferrari 355 to get it. After I sold the first one, I missed it so much, I bought another 2000 in 2004 and heavily modified it. It was one of the best cars I ever owned. I only sold it after a State Police road block in NY State got me banned from NY state for a year for traveling in excess of 120 mph on public roads... and that was on the ON RAMP!

Not bullshit. The title of every video you do should be. " we sit talk about what we have and what we drive, then some history about the subject, then more bullshit, then act like a mechanic like y'all know something but if everyone listens y'all just repeat what others say, then the actual subject of movie." It is my dream car and realized ownership about 8 years ago. Cars in the fleet come and go but this one will always stick around. It gets hated on for its lack of power, but you have to drive it to appreciate it. 40-85 mph is a blast and add some twisty roads and you can't stop smiling! The cockpit is second to none and the sounds it makes are glorious. Another plus is the ownership community, best out there. Glad to hear that the price is about to take off, makes me look like a genius.

Zohirul Islam Jewel The thing about the NSX is that it will always cost more than a comparable 3 series. I am planning on getting an E46 M3 which has way more power than an NSX, but a middling example of an NSX costs juuuust out of the reach of most people.

1st gen NSX is a good car, but even the ones produced back at 90s cost about 40k... The ones produced after 2000s (aka "facelifted" ones) cost about 70k, and only have around 300 hp. I mean, my first car, a 03 TL-S, has 265 hp, and I bought it for only 9k back in 2011.
To buy one now is, to be honest, not very smart. But of course, if you are rich, you don't have to be smart buying stuff.

Also, like others have said...there has got to be a better way to execute such a video without the sheer length of it. The attention span of most viewers is very short. I bought a '91 a year and a half ago for $40K sold it recently for 50K, What fabulous car! handling is sublime, surprisingly good acceleration for an engine designed more than 25,mid engine, all aluminum body and suspension, it was a joy to drive. Parts were somewhat reasonable and very available from your Honda/Acura dealer (at least when compared to parts for other supercars). It was docile on city streets, but could be down-right scary if you were careless. AND there are still some nice unmodified cars around.

As to the inflammatory comment about cars not being an investment, I won't dispute that, but there are several cars that I have owned over the years that did go up in value. My 1996 Porsche C4S went up in value, as did my 2000 Acura NSX. Both cars continue to climb in value. It is not an "investment", but some will go up in value.

Love the guys from MCC. Their excitement and humor about that golf cart was so cool to watch. Actually preferred it to some of the rest of the video. We need more short featurette's like the closing segment. Just quick ownership perks/cons on what they, or anyone for that matter is driving on a particular day. Keep up the good work, /Drive.

i purchased a 91 NSX 5 years ago. Agree with the feel and power-to-weight ratio statements that were made = it is more than enough for a very fun driving experience and it is plenty fast unless you are just interested in 1/4 mile times in a straight line. I added a Pride quad-tip exhaust, which easily bolted on, and had later-year 16'/17" wheels. Love this car. one item to watch on '91s is 'snap ring range' = visit NSXprime forum to learn more and get help w/ any/all questions.

I get why people don't agree with me. The GTR is a laptop of a car, but the engineers stayed true to its driving heritage. You can feel the gears slapping into place, you can feel the tires clawing at the tarmac. It's quite a visceral car for such an extreme digital machine. Mountains of feedback, in my POV. As for the Garia kart - Best ride in metropolitan cities. It's a blast and that torque from the e-motor brings it up to its limited 25mph faster than combustion cabs.

I have been searching for an NSX for about 4 1/2 years for a pretty much stock one. And next weekend I will be picking it up. The only mods are some 18"19" staggered 13lb enkie racing wheels, a downforce headers back exhaust, a downforce ram air intake, some tasteful carbon fiber upgrades and a re upholstered interior. ITS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. 77k miles 1991. no I won;t tell you how much I paid =)

For those looking to buy one, & your issue is to get as close as possible to a track car or the feel of one, stay with 1991-1993.. hands down the best of out of all them. No POWER STEERING and HARDTOP! Also the snap ring is only a problem if the car has less than 60,000 miles. Meaning the car hasn't live on the road as much so therefore the problem could still persist. Snap ring is not an issue on all of them within range, just some. So even in SR range, the car can be free of the any SR issue.

NSX's finally are becoming legendary! About time! I say, get a 3.2, yes, is Targa, but a full second faster to 60 almost, makes a Huge difference, specially with weight savings and extra Bolt - ons!

Clutch is fine if you know how to drive it. The early clutches were dual plate which gave them an unusual feel that took a bit of getting used to. But most of the NSX clutch issues were caused by the operator.

I love the NSX, but any review coming from anyone who says that the 355 is a bad car has just zero credibility. These guys talk about a "track born" car, and then they go for the 355 GTS instead of the Berlinetta and they say they would go for one of the first NSX because it was stiffer and and lighter. Very very coherent then... Everyone who has properly owned one, and by that I mean someone who has lived with the car for years and not two months and crashed it, says that they are great cars. A frind of mine has one of the very last 355 F1 Berlinetta and he just wont ever ever sell it. Then again he is a proper enthusiast and maintains his car mechanics (engine and suspension) properly fit and that's how it has to be with any Ferrari and any real enthusiast who knows his stuff knows that. These guys words then for me are complete and utter crap they just dont have the integrity to talk about cars.

Gonçalo Moura They have a co-op club that has 50+ high end cars, and have owned three 355s. You may not agree with them, but they have the personal experience to have an opinion as valid as yours.

1990 Twin Turbo ZX was 35k new, won sports car of the year 6 years in a row. 300 hp, 4 wheel steering. Waited till 2006 to get a Infiniti G35 with the same exact performance (non turbo) that I had 16 years earlier. The Z at that time was the first 300hp Japanese car imported and was faster than the Vette, 911, and very close to the Testarossa with 350hp that bottomed out trying to ditch me on the twisties! FYI - it had about the stats as the NSX which did look better - I'll give you that.

  • @custommotor

Tires are important, but the real problem usually comes from torque steer. Since the CV axles aren't usually the same length it cause the FWD vehicle to steer one way or the other. I've driven the 2014 Impala with the 310hp v6 in a FWD. Great car with plenty of power, but if you turn the traction control completely off and floor it it will steer hard to the right. Weight shift comes into play too because of the rearward weight shift that lightens the load on the road tires.

I pulled up to a gas station with my NSX and the guy at the pump bowed down and said it made his day. Smile to my face :) I pulled it out of the drive way and my neighbor came over and said it made his day just looking at it, I drive a long the freeway and people take picture of it, my wife dives it to work and it was the talk of the day, when you have one, you'll know what I mean. If you're the passenger, just look around and see how many people turn their head and look at it, pure happiness and it happens everyday.

That's a cool story bro, I remember one day I was driving to school and I saw an NSX right by me and I was the only person attracted to that car and was paying attention to it, while the rest of the people didn't pay attention and instead were attracted to the Nissan GT-R in my school's parking lot that belongs to one of the school's teachers, it's just sad that not that many people from where I am from either know or care or been unforgotten about the NSX, you are lucky you get a lot of attention like that from people, I hope I get the same attention when I own an NSX someday.

Hands down the NSX is super reliable! I've had 3... two over 100k miles and both drove like they were barely breaking in. I believe they're barely breaking in to be honest. My 72k mile drove like a brand new car, a little too stiff if that makes somewhat sense, while my 100k one drove amazing and revved up stronger each year. And I'm not specifically talking about suspension, I'm talking about overall performance.. Honda did a great job in 91-92 because these were the introduction cars imo..

If you want a similar view and experience then you should really get the 3rd gen preludes from 88-91. cockpit view is superb, and handling is outright awesome with 4ws. Feels funny at first but you will love it. The only problem is dwindling aftermarket parts or lack of. Put some nice struts and springs and a new set of sticky rubber and you are set for some fun!!!

I have a 07 GPW S2000 with 17k miles weekend toy that I bought new. Garage queen, perfectly maintained, OEM+ parts, and other mods but have all factory parts as well. NSX is my dream car, while the S2000 is my reasonable dream car... and I love my S2000, keeping it forever. I've always played with the idea of selling my S2000 for a NSX since S2000 values are still fairly high and I can get good chunk of money for mine. After seeing this video, the question is should I really go through with it?
