really cool how Greiner is able to switch off his lead foot. on Cutting the Ties on the breakdown his left foot comes in big in that song
I had a chance to talk to him last year and I asked him I he used his left foot, he told me that he is left foot dominant so that's why he does it, he mixes it up with both, but I was curious to know why and that's what he told me.

CO2 Delivery Lol, I try it sometimes, but then I concentrate to hard on and mess up, it's not so bad if I'm just playing straight single stroke with my left foot, but as soon as I start a polyrhythm or even just a rhythm my kicks sound off lol..

Its probably his weak foot, I watched a Derek Roddy vid once and he said its a really good way of strengthening the weak foot (playing all the single kick parts with the weak) as opposed to doing boring exercises

The only thing I ever see on any Matt Greiner video is people commenting about the second kick drum....
its almost impossible to get two kicks to sound the same live without triggers. im sure he started off with playing two kicks judging by him leading with his left, and without his second kick it throws off his kit setup.

Noah Mitchener double bass drum just make more bigger set, and certainly will make the drummer more comfortable playing with speed blast like Matt Greiner :)
Also it's really hard to mix and tune two kicks to sound exactly the same live. Saying this as a somewhat experienced audio engineer.

Ryan Silveira It's just tightened on the stand too much. Most likely because of the bell. Most of the time his ride sounds pretty good.

@ Jayson Brady No, I guess it's just his personal style. It's very uncommon to see someone lead with the right hand and the left foot, but he does. :)

It's a DW collectors series. If I had to guess, probably a 14"x6.5" nickel over brass.

It's to keep the double bass sounds the same. Getting 2 separate bass drums micd n being consistently sounding the same is harder then just using a double pedal. The 2 bass drums is for the look

I love his drumming but his two kick set up looks terrible with the way he sets his kit up. It's like the kick drums are almost holding hands.
It always bothers me that he puts the bell on his ride instead of a crash.

Why have two bass drums if youre going to use a dbl kicker on the single bass drum. Joey Jordison does that too... two bass drums but uses a double kicker on a single triggered bass drum. On a bigger massive kits like Joey I could see him having the other bass drum for show and to take up space but on this guys set the 2 bass drum set up on a smaller kit looks dumb to me imo because theyre like set up right up against each other w/a single bass drum rack system like hes using. As a drummer myself I think it looks better w the bass drums angled and farther apart w/a dbl bass drum rack system where theres a rack leg inbetween the bass drums. But I dont like 2 bass drums on smaller kits and def cant stand when dudes use 2 bass drums w one rack tom. That is super ugly and annoying lol like that drummer from that lame ass band Chelsea grinn I think theyre called.
Aesthetic reasons. I used a double pedal on my old double bass kit. It just feels weird having a big empty space where the left foot is. Plus it's expensive and time consuming to try to match two bass drum sounds when you're in a studio.

Matt once said in an interview that he once played a show, where he broke the batter head of his kick. And to avoid a long waiting time for changing the head, he now just needs to switch the drums, put in the microphone(s), do a short soundcheck and all is good. Also he had on previews tours/kits his Hi Hat stand mounted on the kick.

Dalton Gorden Yeah great, leading with his left, great syncopation, but his consistency has gotten weak. Not as clean, and you can hear the tightness of his pedals in his playing. Probably needs to loosen them a bit.
I wouldn't say "weak". He fills more "musical" now than Thrill Seeker and Messengers.
