I’m 66 and switching to double backhand as I think I can attack more with it. Still unsure regarding swing path and what to do with the wrists at contact. Looking forward to more videos. Nice clear uncomplicated instruction

The swing path and what you do with the wrists changes dependant on what type of shot you intend to hit and what shot you are receiving.
I’ll making videos on the variations as they become a priority.

You nailed teaching a new stroke. I see too many teachers bombard the student with commands and it just leads to massive confusion. Good job and look forward to your videos.

Thanks. Yes, modern coaching has lost its way and has an obsession with copying the pro’s. Players are left chasing shiny objects.

My biggest issue with 2 handed backhand is the approach to the ball. I found out I have no problem getting to a nice position with one handed backhand (that I never practiced in my life) but with two handed backhand I get always confused how to run and position myself to the ball. Especially high balls are very difficult to deal with for me. It is quite ironical but I hit those pro low above the net balls much better for some reason.

It took me 2 years to transform my backhand stroke from one- to two-handed. I think you will quicken that transformation b/c 1. you previously used your right hand as a forehand, 2. you practice arduously, and 3. you are a better athlete than I. I hope you include it in your matches for there’s no better way to gain confidence with it than using it. I expect you will still use the single-handed stroke on slices and other special circumstances. Sometimes there are just too many choices.

If it gets to the point where it’s better than my one hander, then i’ll gladly switch because the 2hander is superior. I just can’t see it happening though because i’ll still be prioritizing my one hander.

a two hander for an adult is so hard to learn. Probably the most complex shot, especially after hitting a one hander.

Honestly, I think all the shots are hard to learn as an adult. Or I should say that it’s hard to learn modern techniques at a high level.

2 hander is lot easier for women cuz they don’t have bulky muscles like u . All those muscle get in the way of the swing path. So first step is to stop lifting , get skinny arms.

Muscle bulk doesn’t affect swing path if you have good quality movement and range of motion.
If you are talking about me specifically, I only do rehab exercises for my wrist and shoulders to prevent injuries. And I sure don’t plan to stop doing those 😂

Haha It’s a better all around shot, but I can’t imagine i’ll be able to make better than my one hander, so i’m only a partial traitor 😂
