- The Bodos, who had migrated into India through the Patkoi hills between India and Burma, had deviated from the other groups and had settled on the banks of the Mechi River bordering India and Nepal. Later they spread to Darjeeling Terai, Baikanthpur in Jalpaiguri district again marched further east and settled in the Dooars. They are called the Mech. Their name may have been derived from the deformation of the word “Mleccha” as assigned to them by the Aryans. The Mech tribe follows the Bathou religion, where their main God is represented in a Sijou (Euphorbia Neriifolia). The Females wear Dokhna and the male wear Gamsa made from the Eri silk, coming from the Endi worm (Samia Cynthia Ricini).

Now mech-kachari is known as Boro(Bodo)..The largest and developed tribe of Assam and BTC or BTAD(Bodoland Territorial Area Districts) with almost 16Lakhs to 18 Lakhs population all over Brahmaputra valley.
The population of bodo is actually 13 lakhs but it still is largest tribe of Assam

It's totally false. whatever it has been described is not absolutely correct. Bodos have been living on this land since time immemorial i.e.Thousands of years before the epic period of Ramayana & Mahabharata, which is found mentioned in those great scriptures as well as in Puranas & other scriptures. They are the aboriginal & earliest inhabitants of this part of land. They originally descended from Bot Countries (Tibbot ) 10's of thousands of years before from now, ( since when there were no boundaries or demarcations of land & kingdoms on this Mother Earth), through the some Himalayan pass & spread on vast region of North India & Northeast India ( which is now called) along the Brahmaputra Valley and then far Southeast up to pathkai hills from West to East, not from East to West. Bathuo religion, in fact, is the oldest traditionally descended religion on this Earth. It might be as old as the known civilization of mankind. As these are found mentioned in History & in some other inscriptions. Hence the name Tibbot→Bot→Bod→Bodo or Boro meaning Mankind→Human being (Manav). They are also known as Mech in Nepal & North Bengal, as they first lived along the both sides of Mechi River located near the Indo-Nepal border which is still existing there & the Bodos in entire Brahmaputra (Burlungbutur, meaning →Turbulent ) Valley. I don't think so.. some of Boro People (means Kachari peoples who live in mainly lower assam) also write kachari, Mech surname. All Boro kachari, Rabha kachari, Dimasa kachari , Sonowal Kachari, Mech, Mlech belong to same race.. they were spreading in many groups and because of less communication to old race some of their groups are mixed culturally, linguistically with other co-existing communities.

Not at all. Boros did not migrate here from anywhere. They are the original inhabitants of the Duars who have been uprooted by the British and then the Bhatiyas. The Mech, Meche, Kachari and Boro are the same nation. Please acknowledge this truth.

Im completely disagree with u because there is no any evidence that kirat are ashur and danavs. We don't have any features like ashur and danavs as mentioned in hindu culture. In hindu culture dev and danav\ashur are the son of ditee and aditee. BUT kirat are mentioned as shiva putra(As kirat mundhum).

Suraj Bty , you don't know history.the bodo or boro is new thing . B.H hodson first used the term bodo from the meches in Darjeeling district in 1846. Historically bodos known as mech . you need to read history. Dimasa is different thing. They are not bodos or boro . they are kachari only.
U Meche peoples really don't know anything of our history ... 1st we were known as Dimasa Kachari then we came down and separated to different Location... Some of us went to Assam, meghalaya, Tripura and Arunachal etc... Who told u Dimiasas r Different then Bodos.. Our 99% language matches wid Dimasa Tribe... But we cant call us Dimasa so just like that we Bodos Don't call us as Meche... And Meches r mixed tribe Sc peples like Rajbanshi .. Meche Mostly they Marry Rajbansi and now they looks vry vry Different then Bodos.. We Bodos looks like Chinese .. I'm not saying that Meche and Bodo were deferent in the past but for now in Present we r a bit different then Meche... We r Bodos and we Never call us Meche ...

If you separated yourself from meches there you People will be historyless.because bodo is is recently used word by British got it. You can't say boros as dimasa because dimasa has separate dress, culture, dances , title than that of bodos. But meches has more common titles and living

@@natureandculture8214 Yes, then why Hindi? Why are you OKAY with Hindi even? We think that you are missing the actual point someway or the other. We don't know Bodo language. The Boro people whom we spoke to were comfortable in Bodo and Bengali only. So only language left for our communication was Bengali. It was a practical limitation. And we really felt sorry about it and we discussed about it among ourselves also after the shoot. But, your idea of accepting Hindi rather than Bengali is indicating some other agenda and that's more objectionable probably. Think over it once, we are not here to fight rather our intention is to come close to each other with respect. We respect your language and culture and that's the reason which pushed us to do this documentation work. Now we feel that we should have known each other in the time of our research and shoot. Limboo, Rai, tamang, Sherpa, lepcha, dhimal, bhutia, mech r not mixed with Bengali. Koch rajbanshi r mixed with Bengali. One tribal also donot mix with others. Nepali( Indo ayran pahadi language ) connects as lingua Franca in hills n foothills n Bengali ( Indo aryan language ) in plains. But tribal custom is followed by them.
In Assam only tribal r mixed culturally with assamese.
@@rajivsarmah8413 i think you are shooting in air.North bengal especially coochbihar regions consists of indigenous groups like mech,mandai,Koch rajbongshis,bodos etc,while the others you mentioned are Nepali tribes indigenous of Darjeeling.

Boros are distinct and never a part of Assamese umbrella. It is just forcibly assimilated into and that's the truth.
One's identity has to be known by it's origin. Why are we always forced to characterized ourselves to others, who aren't related to us in anyway.
Assamese are Assamese, I don't want to know who they are. However, Boros are Boros' and that's who we are. It doesn't matter if we are internally bleeding or externally backward. But we have our own distinctive identity no matter what.
