I have spent so much time trying to perfect my spoilboard, I have found a few that worked OK, But, I LOVE how well this was done, I would love to have you create on of these files for the 1F journeyman? Great video, bought the plans and the Amanda bits. When I fitted the bit into my CNC with the waste board in place I did not have enough Z height as I have the ATC adapter fitted to my spindle which reduces the Z height. Looking closer at video, I see that your spindle is higher than mine. You must have spacers installed. How many spindle spacer rings have you fitted on your spindle? Does the ATC still function with the spacer rings and the exhaust adapter connector (brush). Please can you make a video showing how you use the spacer rings to raise your spindle, and show it fitted with the exhaust adapter and using the ATC.

    • @marcelhunold9622

      Had the same problem with the Z height. So I designed a spacer in Fusion360 and 3D printed it. The height of my spacer is 25mm (1 inch).

Can you advise what size bolts (I believe 18pcs) and what size nuts (I believe 18Pcs) that fit inside the aluminum channel? AKA, The nuts and bolts you used for attaching the waste board to the M1000 white board's aluminum track? Also can you tell us how long the 3/8" bolts used to hold down the clamps?? Hoping you can make a material list (quantity's/sizes) of all material used? Trying to get all parts together prior to purchasing the plans and cutting the waste board! I have the bit's needed in my tools today cart. :)

    Great work and beautiful content. I can't help but think that the waste board is somewhat over engineered a bit. As I watched you work on the waste board, what came to mind was simply sandwiching layers of pre-drilled pegboard. One could use two, three, or four layers of pegboard with the holes all lined up and then holding that down by your favorite method from outside the cutting area, flattening the board and finishing up with the clamps that you used. Also, there are still a great many users who don't have the elaborate setup that you have nor the large cutting area so relying on pre-cut pegboards would also be a time and cost saving alternative. After all, store bought pegboard is probably made with CNC machinery anyway and would have perfect alignment as would something that is made entirely in the shop. Just a thought.

    • @ToolsToday
      @ToolsToday  2 года назад +8

      I've never tried that, but it's certainly possible that it could work. I find that machining my own holes on the CNC machine provides more accuracy and ensures everything is lining up the way that I want it.

      Yes, I chose 1.5" on center. It will allow me to hold most pieces without using any sort of spacer.

  • @thesplinteredfinger
    @thesplinteredfinger 2 года назад +1

    What would you suggest as a work hold down for a larger piece of acrylic? I am currently using double sided tape but if I am cutting several sheets of acrylic it is very time consuming to install and remove the tape.

    • @ToolsToday
      @ToolsToday  2 года назад

      If it's thin material, the best option is some sort of vacuum table setup. It's not always possible to do, but will save tons of time if it's something you're doing frequently. Other than that, the double sided tape or screwing the piece to the wasteboard would be my preferred method.

  • @MrBrettStar

    What home sensors does that CNC use? I’ve read that proximity sensors aren’t accurate enough to do repeating cuts. Or do you home the piece every time?

    • @ToolsToday
      @ToolsToday  2 года назад

      It's always hard to judge how long things take when filming as that adds a ton of time. I have made these before in a single day for a different CNC when I wasn't filming. This CNC uses limit switches for a positive stop every time.
