Works like a charm. One thing that might be helpful to people less familiar with blender is to make sure your character is in the rest pose before attempting this process.
It has to be you my dude. You are the only video on the entire website without sketchy clickbait and useless "secrets". To the point and no 30 minutes of intro to explain the point of the title of the video. Thanks!!!
i'v been struggling for months on end trying to figure out how to properly assign weights to my clothes and you brought me the light!!!! Thank you so much
Wow, quick, straight forward, and very well explained to accomplish such a critical part. Thank you for the vid and ill be checking out everything else you have up!
Yup, this is something too under appreciated and I'm glad google tries to point you to correct spot of the long dragging viceos. But this, exactly what you're looking for, no fluff and includes his own little stumble of not finding the menu shortcut ;)
aewsome!!! glad to help. Also I just created a discord to grow the community and also help with questions regarding blender ue5, or substance painter discord.gg/rMqy93QD
oh my god you are such a lifesaver! I have been going crazy the past couple days trying to figure this out and in 2 minutes you made it seem so easy and fixed my entire project. Thank you!!!!
Of all the awful, clunky, hermetically obscure means to attach clothing to rigs, this one emerges as a shining star of simplicity for those who just need an A to B solution for slower systems. And a video to match. Fantastic.
nah bro you the fucking best. Was beating my head up for hours trying to figure this shit out its crazy how there is no clear tutorial or documentation on how to do something so basic. You saved me absolute GOAT!
You know how they sometimes say "it's not rocket science"? Well, learning 3D friggin' IS! Anyway... this is the 3rd tutorial I tried to get clothes to stay in place and it FINALLY worked. Thanks, dude. Nice short video too.
Awesome, that's what I'm here for. Also, I just started a discord to grow the community as well if answer any questions you may have, here's the link if you want to join discord.gg/rMqy93QD
this is really great, the only thing I had to do with my mixamo character was to put him back in to 'rest position' before starting the process, then it all worked fine.
Mate, this technique even worked on my characters particle eyelashes! They would stay hovering when I moved her head, but this procedure at least keeps them attached to her face/eyelids now, after parenting them to the animation 'rig', so I'm chuffed. The lash hairs do distort if I pose her eyeballs too far sideways, but I think I need to parent to the armature first, and then regenerate the rig?! will keep trying!!
Can also copy part of the body mesh the t-shirt will be on. Make it a separate object. Scale it slightly larger than the body. texture it. And it's already rigged and weight painted the same as the body mesh was.
Works like a charm. One thing that might be helpful to people less familiar with blender is to make sure your character is in the rest pose before attempting this process.
Finally someone who doesn't go into tangents about why we are clicking these things and just shows you how to set it up so we can finish our projects.
So, learning why things work they way they do is a "tangent?"
@@Corn_Pone_Flicks Yes. If we want to learn how buttons work we can watch a UI tutorial.

Big time advantage for models with complicated clothing pieces.

Thank you, I was stressing over it, and it looks so simple!
Working on a simple animation, needed a nice simple solution. Thank you so very much!!!!
Can also copy part of the body mesh the t-shirt will be on. Make it a separate object. Scale it slightly larger than the body. texture it. And it's already rigged and weight painted the same as the body mesh was.
This only works if the character is rigged before creating the clothes from the characters mesh
