Exactly right! I am 48 hours out from my knee replacement surgery and am sitting here with a pain level of 9 out of 10. Right after waking up from the surgery, the pain level was only a 1 out of 10 and I was walking like that.
@@VagaBumAdventures - I am 3 months post-op and still on 2 prescription pain killers twice a day. Saw the doctor this week. If things don't improve soon, he may have to operate again. I wish that I never had this surgery.
That’s due to nerves blocked off, just had my TKP last this week. I had to do the same, and walk up and down some stairs before I was discharged. By Day 2 Pre-op, those nerve blocks wore off and with it came pain. Just taking the medication the doctor gave and taking them as it is to prevent severe pain plus icing and subtle motion to start having the blood flowing again in the knee is key to first 10 days. Currently it’s Day 5 after surgery and I have more motion on knee and it’s easier to move around. I can walk with more of a rhythm with a walker. Of course PT is sooo important! It hurts but it’s a must for recovery. I was started a day after surgery.
@@baddreams1436Just had my second tkr last week. I understand that you will be nervous as I was. You’ll feel pretty good the day after because of the nerve block and then it will wear off and you’ll have to ice rest, ice and get the joint moving. The good part comes about six weeks after surgery when you are finishing up with outpatient PT, and your knee no longer feels like you can’t think about anything else when you’re walking. Suddenly you’re walking and not even thinking about pain anymore. You can do this! Good luck with your joint replacement :-)
This is misleading. She can walk because the pain medicine is still working. Once the medicine wears off it’s a different story. I had knee replacement surgery so I know! It’s not an easy recovery but I can walk pain free now 👍
I'm 1 1/2 weeks post op TKR Left knee. I did the same thing after coming off Anastasia but I can tell you the pain was excruciating the following days after the nerve block wore off. Every day is getting better and hopefully my recovery will be successful.
I just turned 40 in June, and am having my right knee done on the 23rd of this month! Nervous for recovery! Thanks y’all for sharing ur experiences! Not looking forward to the pain, but I have hope that it’ll all be so worth it!🙏🙏🙏
I'm so going to see my orthopedic surgeon on the 30th to set up surgery! My pain threshold is so low I'm trying not to think about the pain😅 I'm going to feel 😩 I have severe arthritis. I used to do CrossFit that's how my knee got messed up . I tore my meniscus. Back from there I started getting severe arthritis. I'm 68 now but I need to do this 😢 my doctor said you can't keep getting shots in your knee! But yeah it's not working like it used to.
MY DAD IS 75 HE JUST HAD HIS KNEE DONE MONDAY, HE WAS UP WALKING AFTER CAME HOME THE ENXT DAY AND WALKED UP THREE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS (WE LIVE ON THE THIRD FLOOR) NOW THO HES IN PAIN AND SWOLLEN THE MORPHINE WORE OFF
I had a total knee replacement 6 years ago at 40 and need the other one done. Unfortunately this wasn't my outcome. I needed therapy for 6 wks before I could stand on my own. It still hurt tremendously afterwards for mos..then one day I woke up and had no pain. I can only wish to have recovered this way
That's me I had my right knee for almost two year this coming April, now they are setting things up for my left knee after reading the mri. It hurt too much, too walk like she just did.
TKR 3 1/2 weeks ago... I was just like her, after 36 hours I was swollen and in level 8-9 pain. It's better now but that first few days was horrific. I'm just now able to get by without meds every 4 hours.
Yep, me too. Up and down stairs too. Then a day of two later a nerve block wore off and swelling began… Totally different a few days later. This surgery is NOT for sissies!
I’m confused, what is the nerve block? Before my surgery, I had a catheter inserted in my lower spine, and I started feeling it go numb, but it was worn off by the end of the day. I also had a pain ball inserted before I went into surgery and that lasted about three days until it was empty. I find it hard to believe this woman is not even one hour out from surgery and walking at a rapid pace all over the place! Even on pain meds, I could barely take steps and that was about 4 hours after I woke up
I was so numb from the nerve block, I walked, but it wasn't that good. lol hopefully the rest of your recovery was this easy 😊 I have had an easy recovery with my LTKR and I'm having the right done in Feb
I had bilateral knee replacement 3 months ago and as soon as I was able to wiggle my toes they had me get up and walk and than the nausea kicked in 🤢 horrible.
Just had a TKRevision on 1/12/24. Hsp 5 days. This surgery IS NO JOKE. Ive had 5 surgeries on 1 knee. God bless this lady but the days to come will be most challenging. God bless you and your recovery upcoming 🙏
I call bull crap . I spent the worst 2 years in pain stiff sore 2.6 year post opp will never be the same again . I was not waking for 24 hours after surgery and even then the pain ice packs 3rd day was better but 2 years later still can’t kneel to get on the floor to wash or exercise
After surgery I could do splits and 🤸 Day 2 post op that nerve block and anesthesia wore off my pain level was on 20. Oxy was not working. I was in so much pain. The changed my meds to Flexiril, Tylenol 100 mg, Dilaudid 4 mg & a lidocaine patch & I could actually sleep. This surgery is no joke. Please have a strong support system & if you can please go to rehab after. You will not get the same kind of care at home that you would in Rehab.
My mom was knocked out for 2 hours post surgery...didn't get to enjoy the nerve block just the hurt. But one week posr surgery she's seeing slow improvement
No easy way to get through this surgery. It's a big job, but the gains outweigh the pain..as the weeks go by it gets easier. I'm 6 weeks post surgery and am out of the woods. Work hard at PT and it will be a success
I call BS I had a knee replacement and your leg is like playdough you can't feel it much less move like your going to run a marathon, but that was 21 years ago and from trauma lets see with my next one .
No if you have nerve block you can't feel your legs at all! So I think she's on pain meds. I had mine in May and was walking after the nerve block wore off.
Not my experience at all. It was 2 days before I could feel my leg. When I walked a bit, I had projectile vomiting. The swelling, pain & tightness have been unbelievable. I also have fibromyalgia.
This is uncommon, but does happen. All patients walk after surgery, most don’t make it look so easy. Our protocol minimizes narcotics like morphine whenever possible. This early result is from 2 nerve blocks.
Of course she walking like that right after recovery…… But when that anesthesia wears off off all hell break loose. Show how she was doing the following day.
That’s the only way they could send you home, eh we n reality hits it’s beyond different. They only way this might be real is if they are using the new freeze block on nerves and they can last for a couple weeks so you get past the hardest time. Verdicts still out on that method.
I call bullshit. Just had one and there was no walking that easily 45 mins after surgery. Even with the nerve block yo ass will fall down 😂 good luck though!!!
I am sitting here with an ice pack on my knee on an elevated leg, and I'm five weeks post knee replacement. I hate how this Dr. is deceiving people.
