Yes. This. Not that frequent for me. But my use case is with bird photography with the 100-500. I’m shooting manual with auto ISO so the rear dial is mapped to shutter speed and not exp comp. I need exp comp sometimes shooting into the sky. Although I think I’ll try spot metering. May eliminates that issue.
Just purchased this lens to replace my 17-40 . I'm shooting on the EOS R , not had a chance to get out and shoot with it, just a couple of teat shots in the garden. Boy you can get really close and still focus even at F/8 it was providing some separation from the background. Can't wait to get out to a landscape location. I use the control ring for aperture, as that's where it always used to be ! Nice informative videos thanks
Control ring is the best invention since sliced bread! I use it to change ISO. I always shoot full manual, and since I always know beforehand what SS and aperture I want, I just finetune the settings with control ring ISO.
I have this lens. I think it’s a good value and selection if you want to save on weight (compared to the 15-35mm f/2.8). One thing that I didn’t know after watching reviews is that canon got rid of the manual focus distance indicator on the RF lenses. Which makes using it to shoot manual focus at night (Astro) basically unusable. I still need to carry my 14mm f/2.8 II to handle this aspect.
Currently own the RF 15-35/2.8 L but thinking of lighting my kit and moving to this lens. Will be using an R5. Is it worth the switch? Have you compared these two lenses? Let me know what you think. Thank you and take care.
If you’re looking for a lighter kit, the 14-35 is awesome. I will say that it does have some distortion and vignetting at 14mm though, easily corrected once imported to Lightroom
the 14-35 has better image quality at f4 than the 15-35 2.8 does at f4. Something to think about as reviewers have found that the 14-35 is generally sharper at most apertures.
What about barrel distortion? That’s where you could suffer more cropping when correcting and maybe losing some of that extra mm.
I frequently use the control ring to change exposure compensation

Does the in-lens vignette correction work in video mode?

I see an intro like this and I don't think of a guy mountain biking down some hills, I see a guy riding back up to get the camera all the time

Can't you activate focus distance indicator on the back screen and/or viewfinder? You should be able to
@ oh I didn’t think that maybe they moved it to the digital side. Let me look into it. Thanks.
@@dustinwongphotos [Shooting info. disp.] > [Lens info. display] > [Focus distance disp.] Let me know if it's there!
@ thanks for the tip! This works.

Is it worth it is up to you. You lose the 2.8 aperture but gain the smaller and lighter weight. Image quality is great in both. 😊

I love this lens. That's the comment.
