What i dont understand is why is everyone taking these cabinet appointments seriously. In Trumps world, its all about him. Lets see how many of these stick around at end of year 1.
Good quick takes, I think Trump's strength domestically will help him succeed in the foreign flashpoints in the Middle East and Ukraine. I really, really do not want to see a war with Iran and I think Trump will work hard to avoid that - hopefully his reimposition of "maximum pressure" will yield results.
People are giving too much importance to Elon Musk’s role in this Trump presidency. Elon himself is mercurial than Trump himself. Easiest target for Trump to show his supporters that he is strong president they wanted is to put 60% tariff on China. Elon himself should bring back his Giga factories to US.
You ignored the deportation camps Stephen Miller wants to set up, (and how it will affect the relationship with Mexico, the US’ #1 trading partner). A humanitarian catastrophe if it happens. Please cover this next time.
Netanyahu will have no constraints from Trump, including eliminating Iran's ability to fund Hamas and Hezbollah by destroying Iran's oil industry. Iran's oil exports are its primary source of foreign currency and account for about 20% of its GDP. In the past, Iran has threatened to close the Straits of Hormuz when threatened by the US or Israel. Accordingly, why are Bremmer and the financial markets ignoring the potential loss of 25% of the global oil supply and 30% of LNG? For example, crude oil futures traded at $185/bbl in May 2008 when Iran threatened to close the 21-mile-wide choke point.
You said, "... Trump wants to be the star ..." Actually Trump wants to be the President i.e. the boss. They are supposed to follow HIS policies. He's gotten tired of his cabinet members thinking the government was about them.
Full security guarantees for Ukraine. No faffing around like before. Ukraine inside NATO - failing that rapid reaction force with Britain and a few Eastern European states.
The big question is he going to cut off the military aid to ukraine and to put his leverage on Natenyaho to syhis war against the palastinians and the lebanese people?
Excellent report but you failed to mention the FBI and the CIA that is what I'm waiting for. Will he fire Wray and put a house cleaner into the CIA? I hope so.
@@thinusconradie4297 My pleasure. Yes, the mainstream media is still a bit shocked and angry that they lost the election, so they’re scaring people in an adolescent fit of poor sportsmanship. Most of us are used to it.
@@stephenlight647 Thanks. Again, I am not American but I have older friends there and they are all freaking out saying they will lose what they depend on. Some depend on VA benefits and they say it's on the chopping block.
Come on, Ian. What leader does not value and expect loyalty? As for Vance's role doing the things Trump does not want to do, what did Harris do? She did the things that Biden didn't want to do, namely securing the southern border. There are billionaire businessmen who actively support all parties and governments. Surely, Zuckerberg and Bezos come to mind. I value your commentary, but the hypocrisy was a little more blatant today.
As to Trump’s “loyalty” being sullied, how does this theory hold up with so many of his current cabinet/crew? Case in point-J.D. Vance. Vance was extremely critical of Trump. Not sure your theory holds water.
“Ukraine is on the back foot.” 1000 Russian casualties per day, armor being destroyed by the hundreds, 25% interest rates. The term “back foot” is a bit extreme.
These spots for clicks should be flagged as spam. Bremmer is just stating the obvious, clogging my feed with superfluous drivel. Gee Ian, so you think Trump is going to put only lackeys in his admin? What an analysis. Pure genuis.
I’m sorry Ian - Is your argument that we shouldn’t concern ourselves with Project 2025 because *checks notes* Donald Trump is going to hold his people accountable? Followed by ‘We don’t have Kissinger but at least we got Elon!’ Yikes what a joke America has become.
We hope you are concerned with what Trump will do. That’s why we elected him. To do the many things that the Left does not want to do. We hope he infuriates you with a successful roll out of the policies we elected him to pursue.
I LOVE your videos Ian. So balanced and objective. People like you are hard to find in the world these days.
Keep doing what you're doing.
You MUST be his mother.
I am not sure the musk / trump bromance is going to be long lived. Those two egos are not compatible.
Trump used Musk, pretty sure it will be easy to dig up how Trump feels about Silicone Valey dudes. Musk is just another moron.
Totally agree. And China will take center stage on their short lived "honeymoon"...
100% right.
This is not an agenda. It is a mess.

Excellent breakdown. Thanks for the clarity.
Thank you Ian for the video.
Thoroughly enjoyed you at Marin Speaker series last night. Fascinating information. Wish you could have stayed for 3 hours! Thanks
Very impressed with this balanced take Ian. I know your bias, but also commend your efforts to be balanced. Keep it up
Balanced bias? LOL. Sure.
A good, level summary.
Perhaps the best outcome is for Trump to spend the term playing golf and letting others make decisions.
Authoritarians number one requirement: undying loyalty
clown, thats why xi putin and the irgc wanted biden to win the election right commie
That, and good recommendations for nightstand reading matter.
Sycophants sucking up to an idiot are dangerous

Yeah, should be very interesting. Iran could go either way- it all depends in Iran's domestic population and politics.
👍👍👍
Angy
Well..the policies may or may not be bad, but at least they will be decisive.
Those in the EU who want to continue supporting Ukraine need to realize Germany will not. Germany will cozy up to Russia

What I don't understand is that Ian was against a Trump presidency but acknowledges Ukraine war winding down, how is that bad?

But Marco?

You have no idea what is actually happening in Ukraine and what the outcome will be. Other than that a reasonable assessment.

Kakistocracy + Plutocracy + Anocracy.

He'll def fire Wray. Maga goons hate him.
Just to be honest here. i am scared of what is to come really i am. as for his 2025 plane that is what really really scaring me.
Elon gonna prioritize his business first than give a damn about the american people.
Don't worry about billionaires they will be ok.
If they can get additional tax breaks.
Bless their needy hearts.

Of course not, but dem spending almost has. Trump may end TAXES on social security, however…

IDF Ian strikes again.
At this point, I’m actually rooting for America to completely fail under Trump. It’s the only way we will realize our mistakes.

I know it's difficult for gzero on this front, but just give this administration a chance and try to be a bit more objective please
Objectively, Trump is not qualified for this office and made enormous and permanently damaging errors in his previous term.
Everyone knows he is a clown even those who voted for him. Just lesser of two evils for some
Wonder how many Xanex and glasses of wine Ian had with his boyfriend on election night!
More biased and inane manufactured panic, esp in the comments.
Watch Sean Hannity.
