Anakin at 9 years old: "Anakin is too old to become a Jedi, his attachments could lead him to the dark side." - The Counsel A'Sharad at 15 years old: "Welcome to the Jedi order! I'm sure your attachment to the Tuskens won't turn out to be a problem." - The Counsel
Thing with Anakin was that he was full of fear, doubt and resentment. Those were actually the waeknesses used by Palpatine to turn Anakin into the dark side.
The rationale I don’t think was necessarily about how old he was then, but rather how he’d developed, especially with achieving escalation in power within his teenage years, with the strong attachments and internal turmoil he’s already begun carrying. Younger and he could have become more balanced and attachments more evenly spread out before his escalation in power, older and he could have been more matured and naturally humbled by life similar to Luke. Alternatively: Where they screwed up at this point was council not moving to immediately support his mother and bringing her here with her son. She could have been “sending her little Ani off to school…” etc each day, while maybe working a support roll within the order to help them out. Her growing loyalty to the same social circumstance as her son, could have vicariously fortified Anakin’s mindset within the Jedi ways and helped mediate his teenage angst later on. I’m sure he would have bashed heads opinion wise somewhere with other members eventually, but by golly if he had a mother to plant her foot down before anything escalated and say “Shut-it!” you can bet your momma’s boy Anakin would have taken aback instantly and reconsidered his position, even if she wasn’t some all powerful Jedi.😂
The story of how KiAdi found A'sharad was the first star wars comic I read growing up. It is what got me into collecting and this community as a whole. You do amazing work and it brings me nothing but the greatest of joy to see you telling his tales. May the Force be with You
I think Hett escaping Order 66 was more than just his survival instincts kicking in. He was a master of Form VI Niman. But unlike other Jedi who practiced the style, Hett elevated it to its highest levels, no doubt sharpened by the battles he fought during the Clone Wars
He also started out viewing everyone as an enemy. So when he was caught by surprise and fell back into his old ways, it was easier for him to adapt to the paradigm shift; that everyone is now an enemy. It was probably like _"knew it"_ and then automatic kill mode go. Maybe it felt good.
A'sharad should have been one of the main characters I feel, or at least a good enough character to have his own show, because this is just badassery at it's finest. Imagine this conversation between jedi survivors "I survived by killing my clone battalion" 🗿
God what if A'Sharad had ended up mentoring Starkiller in the Force Awakens series. Very wild considering you face Vader, which makes you wonder if Hett would have sensed Vader being Anakin.
With shows like Mandalorian and how they showed Ashoka and Grogu past or even Kenobi season, they could definitely touch more upon bunch of characters such as his. Especially Bad Batch season it’s perfect timing for his character.
He sensed it. Like Yoda did, like Obi wan did. He felt a tremor in the force and that was enough to put up his guard. Many strong Jedi fell because they were not warned in the force. Their deaths was the warning everyone else needed to survive... the small few that seem to keep adding up due to Disney owning Star Wars now
I also really love that he's also the only one besides Palpatine that Anakin told about the slaughter of the Tuskens, and that he actually helped Anakin work through that. I think I heard them once say on this channel that it's possible that he & Anakin could've possibly stopped each other from turning to the dark side had A'Sharad been the one to train Anakin instead of Obi-Wan, and honestly I think I agree with that.
He a survivor, he won’t be easy to kill and that is true of hett. As his upbringing in the brutal live or die society of the Tusksns and his experiences during the clone wars formed him into a lethal killing machine who refused to die and kept in fighting no matter the odds.
These videos are completely amazing! I am a 50 yr old female star wars fan! And i have learned so much more about the lore since finding this channel than in all the years of watching it! You are a true star wars fan and you deserve so much credit for putting out wicked good videos!
it's not certain if he fell to the darkside when order 66 was enacted, but he had the increased power level of a jedi that fell to the darkside when it happened. that was the difference between him and the Jedi, he did it for survival. the Jedi would never have slaughtered the clones.
More please! I've only the knowledge of A'sharad Hett that you've provided in the holochron you posted covering his mission with Anakin. Pleased to hear you'll be covering him in future holochron's.
Man I love the Legacy comics. I know he shows up in others like Retalliation i think. But that issue with his backstory on Tatooine with Obi-Wan was phenomenal.
My god, I am so glad you guys are starting to do some Darth Krayt videos. IMO, Krayt is one of the top 3 most powerful and accomplished Sith Lords in the entire lore, and you’ve done so many excellent Sith videos that this is a long time coming
Actually, there were several Jedi who survived Order 66. IIRC, the one that Vader took his khyber from, distrusted the clones and used his own group of robots as troops.
This is great story. A'Sharad is great character. Interesting character. You have to admire him.Being Tusken Raider helped so much. I think more Jedi would survive if they did what A'Sharad did. May the Force be with you too😊
i remember when Dark Horse comics teased the reveal of the identity of Darth Krayt. they said it was "someone you already know." my mind was racing at the possibilities. who? when it was revealed to be A'Sharad Hett. i was surprised. . .and heartbroken. what happened? (i soon after read the later comics) he was once a great Jedi. and even more sad, he never got redemption. he is forever lost to the Darkness and it didn't have to be that way.
In someways Hett is prove that Jedi need to put some more survivual as well accepts into their training, if the survivual drive know they can make it out and even hide better durning the purge as well as accepting that they may not if he did he might not be come the found of the One Sith and may even join Luke’s Jedi Order.
When you consider A'sharad Hett's full story to call him a survivor is definitely accurate. One of the most fascinating legends character who should be brought into canon though I fear they could not do him justice. It would take a multi-season TV series (probably 7 seasons) to do justice to his story and that would require great writing, casting and a big budget. Also characters like Obi wan and Anakin would be necessary not to mention Luke Skywalker so probably too great an undertaking.
Of the characters who could do it, I'm glad it was him, as I'm a big fan of Legacy, and this is part of how we get Darth Krayt! I'm looking forward to the future videos that cover this! So, one little annoyance this brings up for me; I wish that Star Wars was a bit more willing to confirm whether the Tuskens were human, near-human, or aliens; whether their culture is ranging-inclusive, like the Mandalorians once were, or what? It's weird, to me, that the Hetts; obviously human, were Tuskens, since I see them as aliens, and always cringe when a source says "no one has ever seen a Tusken, or a Jawa, uncovered, as if none of them ever die, and have been picked over by others.
QuinLanVos was about that life too 👏🏾 When it was time to fight his way out of Order 66 he made that happen & made it happen as covertly as possible 🔥.
The way Obi Wan spared him and this man became such a problem for Luke and his ancestors a half century to a full century later tho. It goes head to head with sparing Vader and letting A’sharad live
There was more then one. Yoda wasn't caught off guard as Qui-Gon warned him of it happening. Also the Unknown Jedi, Jedi Master Beep Bop Boop who was a Jedi that was over 6,000 years old.
I love hearing about characters that I had no prior knowledge of. The more I learn from you, the more I think that Star Wars's biggest mistake was dividing what was canon. Instead of creating stories that were easier to tell, they should've stayed the course and told the greatest stories ever.
May I suggest to add either Legends or Canon to the videos titles? I think it's important to distinguish between the two, given that only Canon is technically official.
Cade: Wait a minute - you're saying you were once a Jedi? Krayt: Don't look so surprised. Sith have always been born and reborn into the ranks of the Jedi. Like you, my father was a Jedi, and he trained me in their ways. Then I grew in understanding and power and became Darth Krayt. But I was born A'sharad Hett.
Wave, you forget that Master Hett was NOT caught off-guard by Order 66. Had he been surprised as the other Jedi were, he would have likely been shot to a roast beef as well
Pong Krell knew RIP (most interesting person in clone wars next to PreVizsla Asajj Ventress Savage opress ) Windu would have killed his way out , I dont think 187th would have turned on him , they were loyal to Windu over republic
So...out of all this...we keep seeing the Jedi Way. adopting/abducting children young and raising them wholly in their care, fall short in terms of power and ability like Anakin (age 9?), Luke (Teenage years, old enough to submit an application to the freaking Empire of all things,) and now A'sharad Hett, a Tusken raised individual. Also interesting notes: All 3 are from Tattooine (Wondering about any force nexus points there), and 2 are children of established Jedi also leading to a theory about Midichlorians being a genetic trait and the best way the Jedi could have swelled their ranks was to have Jedi embrace love as an emotion (See Luke and Leia, as well as Padme and Anakin).
A’Sharad is my most unsung favorite character, whom directors should SOO make a movie about or at least have great moments of him in! How awesome would it be to have movies based around characters like my all time favorite Reven, or Star Killer where even the era and events like the Mandalorian and Republic wars with Jedi and Sith in abundance would be a superb setting? 😳🤦🏻♂️🙄/👌✌️🤲☝️😉
I think its just a simple matter that he arrived back at camp after the fact. Had he of been there when the order was executed he could have easily of fallen
More Jedi definitely would have survived if they had reacted like him. However, that would ruin the entire story of Star Wars since if Jedi did act like tusken raiders when facing death the Sith probably wouldn't have began because the Jedi wouldn't have exiled the dark jedi if it was considered okay to give in to the dark side in certain situations.
and the title isn't entirely true A'Sharad later darth krayt is far from the only jedi who survied order 66 by fight his way out, so the "ONLY" just no.
I mean ....come on it makes logistical sense that more than 50/10,000 active knights and masters would have survived in the first place. Not many, sure. But you also have the subsidiary factions of the jedi organization with the peace core etc. That is where the inquisition comes into play along with Vader hunting aswell. So in this new canon for disney. I'm okay with survivors showing up if the story is good and the consequences make sense.

Not the first time either, Rahm Kota was 18 and came from a war torn planet.
I reckon the difference it that A’sharad was trained in Jedi ways from childhood, unlike Anakin.
Thing with Anakin was that he was full of fear, doubt and resentment. Those were actually the waeknesses used by Palpatine to turn Anakin into the dark side.

A’sharad Hett/Krayt is him. I’d kill to see him covered in a series.
A'sharad Hett is the polar opposite of Obi-Wan. He represents what may have happened if Kenobi fell to the dark side.
I also really love that he's also the only one besides Palpatine that Anakin told about the slaughter of the Tuskens, and that he actually helped Anakin work through that.
