5 days ago, i finally signed up to a website builder. It isn't published yet, but I'm adding things to it, finding my way round, making mistakes, but I'm doing it. So yay to me. Everything you say makes sense.

Yep this is all me. Paddling frantically and my poor brain is fried! Procrastination is so easy when you are a business of one. I need to get my act together and spring is bringing back my energy so I need to get on with it!

I haven't had an order for three weeks now. People are liking and following my shop but no sales. It's hard to stay motivated. That is all.

I am one of those who are afraid of success, unfortunately! Every time I tell myself that starting tomorrow I will do this and I have prepared and I have a plan and everything comes down to action and something happens - my daughter gets sick or I, a problem arises or an event that cannot be postponed, etc. And I'm afraid that if at some point I succeed and have enough followers, and thus regular orders, how will I fulfill them if I can't give myself to work completely? In general, I'm also very emotional and anxious, and I'm afraid of the stress that I will survive! The other thing I'm terribly afraid of is not disappointing my customers! And that's why I haven't made anything for 1 year and my craft room is now just a storage room. I don't know how to deal with it and where to start. And social networks make it more and more difficult ...
I hear you, I've been there too.. still am in many cases. We're just human at the end of the day, so be gentle with yourself and what you're able to do right now. 💚

You're rather addictive, love the laughter and scattyness! Etsy! What a nightmare of a place that is! Me and my Mrs ran an Etsy shop made 45k from it but it was in her name. She started a full time job so I wanted to take it over and having it in my name BUT Etsy have said that we cannot change the owners and that it must remain in her name. So. I've now got to dump it as my Mrs understandably cant have extra money going into her account as she would have to declaire it and that would be a pain in the arse. Etsy rules are stupid, they will now lose out. Etsys business practices and rule are so frustrating! Your mugs have shown me that my idea can work and I don't need to draw I can use fabric and thread as my canvas. I have just finished putting up my thread spool holder on my peg board and I went through Mom's and Grandma's threads. I found some wonderful vintage threads; now I need a truly wonderful project honoring my Grandma to use them on. I have a couple of ideas.

Hi Kim, I finally uploaded a new video to my channel yesterday after weeks of faffing with editing and procrastination. I don't upload frequently; so every time it comes to a new one, I get really anxious about publishing it! I get there eventually, but find it hard to "put myself out there", both for fear of failure and success!
I also need to tweak my Etsy listings. I tend to do a few at a time; boy is it boring!
By the way, I reward myself with stickers too!😉🤣🤣🤣 Thanks so much for your informative, helpful videos!

I’m slowly niching down to just dog-themed stuff which is both what I’m interested in and what my customers seem to be too, conveniently! Let’s see where it goes. Part of it is the ‘not wanting past work to go to waste’ feelings 😂

I'm sure for a lot of us this hits hard... defiantly wasn't me last month presure washing the entire gardens instead of doing my new product photography and listings and ... ugh. My to do list is literally years long.
Also whilst I'm commenting... a good while ago you mentioned changes for the self assessment so it's now basically everyone who runs their own buisness... could you possibly point me in the right place for researching it? I can't quite remember and my research is going in circles ATM.

As for the declaring tax, do you mean anyone who earns over £1000? That's been the case for a while, but it refers to having to declare income of that threshold or above. You may not necessarily have to pay tax on it though. It will depend on how much you earn in total, including from other employment. But if you fill in your self assessment, HMRC will calculate if you owe tax. Hope this helps. There's more info on GOV.uk

Ah fair enough, I cant quite remember what it was, unless I'm saying self assessment and its called something else. (I'm not asking you for tax advice by the way, more wondering about if you know something I haven't read/ where mentioned. as business owners we know what its like reading pages and pages of stuff on the gov and HMRC websites.
if it rings any bells, the note I have written down from one of your videos was "if you are any business that earns more than 10K a year, by April 2024 you will have to file 4 tax returns a year and a end of year declaration."
I couldn't find that type of thing yet, and as far as I know I'm doing everything right. I was advised to set up as a Ltd company, and I pay myself through PAYE with no other payments, (that wouldn't happen for many years) and checking on the guidance it indicates as I do it this way I don't have to do a self assessment as its calculated through PAYE.
ugh, my apologies for the quizzing, anxiety gets the better of me.

Oh I think I remember this, it was something about Making Tax Digital that hit the news at the timemif I remember correctly.
You'll only need to do this if you are above a certain income threshold which I *think* has changed since my video.
Take a look at the website to see if it applies to you and if you're really confused give the HMRC helpline a call for clarification. 💚
@@KimBliss Hi Kim, a great many thanks for that, I've now been able to find the information of HMRC with that lead on the making tax digital bit. it appears to have changes, and I wont be effected by it, but I have noted it down as growth is always something to aspire to... I might need 2 of me making things to reach that though lol.

I’m struggling with this. I recently did a huge cleanup of my Etsy shop- updated all of my photos, cleaned up listings, added digital downloads, and I haven’t gotten a single order since 😢

@@KimBliss hand lettering and stickers! I’ve never gotten a ton of orders, but typically about 2-5 a month and since the holidays it’s tanked. I need to take some time to figure out why!
It could be the time of year maybe? Mine has been better than normal, but that is extremely unusual unless I'm launching something new and promoting it elsewhere so it's shocked me to be honest.
I've also noticed that sales of my supply and DIY items have tanked. I don't know if any of that is helpful at all, but just know you're not alone.
I've been noticing a change in buyer behaviour too. 💚💚
@@rmotek1 I am in the same place. I used to get 30 orders a month. Now I get half of that if I am lucky. This month has been dreadful but I am trying to figure out what has gone wrong. If we knew what had happened we could try and fix it.

It's funny you should mention the things we avoid being the thing we need to do. Today I have been resizing my Etsy photos so they are all 2000 pixels. It was always going to be a monotonous job but most of it is done now. Now I just have to upload them all 😐😆Not sure it will make much difference to my sales there but it's worth a try.
Perhaps not resizing photos alone, but if it helps them look different to the buyer, then you never know.
My photographs were in need of a lot more than resizing. They were such a mess. 😄
@@KimBliss My views and visits plummeted in October and I think it's something Etsy related rather than just the economy, etc. This happened once before with my original art and that never recovered. So I have been running rampant trying to update listing descriptions, retaking photos and making the older photos 2000 pixels (they are simple photos showing silk cords on a neutral background). The fact that Etsy is now using bots to identify a good photo has been worrying me. So while I'm not sure what has happened I am making sure everything is to Etsy's specs. We'll see if it makes a difference 😁
They are absolutely nuts with the tinkering aren't they. Just when you think you're on top of things, they get the spanners out again.
