- 3 Tips to get your cat to stop scratching the couch:
1. Get a scratching post that replicates the experience of scratching the couch. Vertical, Sturdy, and tall enough for a great stretch!
2. Trim your cats nails. The other reason cats scratch is to remove the dull outer layer of their claws. Scratching is a natural instinct for cats, so you want them to be doing it for the benefit of their health.
3. Experiment with deterrence. Try spraying thyme or rosemary because they're unpleasant for cats but they're not actually harmful.

My cat isn’t allowing me to trim his nails. 😰 I’ll become his scratching post if I dare try.
It shouldn’t be that hard just have them between your legs while sitting in a kneeling 🧎 position and rest your weight on them slightly so they can’t move. Super easy to trim them this way
@@Sungroove I’ll have to brace myself and try. He’s just…idk, a terror!
Just to let you know if you have a dog rosemary, even the scent of rosemary can trigger seizures if they have epilepsy
My cats have thousands of cat scratchers i have no place in my apartment. They still touch only my expensive couch. Leather ottoman and bed. Even their cat tree doesn’t interest them
Ive tried all of them😭
yikes, and still no luck?! we have a longer video on our channel with a few other tips and tricks
They hate fennel too which smells nice
I thought rosemary and thyme were dangerous for cats? I’ve heard just most citrus smells in general will do the trick since they don’t like the sour smell (and sour taste since they like their paws) and it’s not harmful for them to be around/ingest.
Citrus is absolutely harmful for cats to ingest or inhale
I hate cats
Don't cut your cats claws, please. It's for defense and evasion. If they get outside or if they are an outside cat and encounter a fox or coyote, they will have no way to fight or flee. DO NOT CUT YOUR CATS CLAWS!

the nails can grow into the paw pads and cause them pain if not cut
@zainyyyyyy not if they have a scratching post or are allowed outside and are able to naturally wear down their claws.
I literally had the front paws removed completely off both of my cats because they wouldn't stop scratching. Our new cat meows constantly, I'm actually going to see if I can get his voice box removed
@@jamesritch5245 You are a piece of garbage. If you can't handle what comes with owning a cat, you should not own a cat.
