'World's Worst Golfers' Take on TPC Sawgrass

- Many amazing things came out of the 1980s, but maybe none more so than the World's Worst Avid Golfer contest held at TPC Sawgrass.
It's when we met then 31-year-old Angelo Spagnolo, who put on the performance of a lifetime. No spoilers here, but once you see what Angelo did at the famous 17th island green, you probably won't feel so bad about your own game.

As a spectator the safest place to be is in the fairway
😂😂😂
Or next to the flag
Very good 🍀
😄😂
I just woke my wife up laughing at this ahahah
"He crushes a drive 80 yards in the general direction of the green."
Me: "Well played sir!"
“Good miss!”
That’s my 56 degree 😂
😂😂😂
Easy swing of my 58 degree
That’s a peach hon!
I am dying to see a PGA tournament take place on a 2 star public course
100%%%
that would be awesome!! will NEVER happen though
For sure, the chance to see Rory's face as his ball lands in dog shit would be priceless, of course Bryson would find a ruling
Chambers bay???
Yessssss
I’d watch a full round of coverage.
Who wouldn’t
I'd go and get hammered drunk
Well you better allot 8 hours of time.
@@ScottGrass lmao I was thinking maybe it's a 2 day event, 9 each day.
Same! Let's make this a thing.
2:03 "...and crushed the MASSIVE drive a good 80 yards in the general direction" lol
"Finished 7 and a half hours of golf with a legitimate bogey and a low round of 179". I feel attacked for some reason.
I'm dying over here with your comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I thought that comment was made up until the end...
typical sunday for me and the boys, bogey keeps you coming back
@@eliasramirez7247just need that one incredible shot per round.
@eliasramirez7247 So you hold up the course just quit
“Worlds worst golfers” low score of 105...*me sweating profusely*
lol
Indeed my friend... indeed
I think it’s technically world’s worst avid golfers, guys who play regularly but still stink, not just rank beginners
@@derekflanderschang9654 "guys who play regularly but still stink". You just described me to a tee... get it?
@@darrensiegel6651 fore the win!
That was albolutely amazing and I feel so much better about my game now.
It's all about perspective
Not me.
I’m thinking the same thing.
How this is not a major tournemant on the PGA is beyond me.
Exactly!!
because it would fuckin suck aside from like rare moments of comedy because its so pathetic.
Lol why would I watch the “worlds worst golfers” when I could just go play 18 myself and see it live 😂
You are hilarious! I want your honesty...
I lost it as soon as they showed the first guy and his career low score of 105. And it only got better from there.
Mines 114 🤣 only been playing since last august though and I started with a few months on the driving range without course practice
Even worse, how could a guy that looks like the offspring of Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus be that bad?
Got to give these guys credit, they never got angry or frustrated. No matter what score the had they were smiling. And that’s something we can all take on the course
Thats the best thing about this "tournament" A bunch of regular people got the star treatment.
Why has this never been brought back?!? 😅😅😅😅
USGA doesn't know how to laugh
There needs to be pairing of Amateurs for every PGA tournament (lottery selection). The crowds and tv fans would love it and it would help show a comparison of how good the Tour Pros are.
@@Brentjr94 What does the USGA have to do with the players?
@@BenDover-bz4cc i think he mightve meant the pga
I watched this show live back in the day. It was funny and entertaining at first but it got old certainly by the end of the front 9.
the footage of them hitting range balls on 17 hits home.
5:48 after 27 balls in the water Angelo made a 66.....on just 17 alone
ONE FREAKIN HOLE!!!! I haven't laughed so hard in my life. That is, till I heard the low round of 179!!!
@@charlieodom9107I'm dying laughing now!!
At least Angelo can say he shot a 66 at TPC Sawgrass
That feeling when your pros take less strokes on an entire round than you did on one hole
I'm literally crying and can barely breathe after that line. This tourney needs to be a regular thing.
Omfg I totally misheard that. I wasn’t paying attention and heard he shot a 66 and was like, woah this guy is kicking ass! 😂
It takes a lot of balls to play golf like these guys!!!
Takes a lot of "balls" and a lot of balls.
Yes, they surely had a lot of balls in the beginning, but then they quickly got castrated.
"My swing is a stiff, frozen, fearful attempt to hit the ball." LOL Well said. I can relate my good man. I can relate.
I had a genuine good laugh at that statement 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
@@jmuk9165 yep... happened to me again today at the range.... fuuuuuuck golf!
This should be mandatory viewing at all Golfers Support Groups in the world...
“Ran out of balls” - story of my life
An old duffer's trick is to steal as many range balls as you can before the round.
@@protamine4 Lol. Yeah, I used to play a course that had a driving range that conveniently pointed towards the 15th fairway, which is about the time I'm running out, and the longer hitters could hit range balls close enough to that hole that we could "borrow" a few to get through the round. I did always return the balls... well, the ones that made it through to the end at least.
Legend has it, if you look far enough in the rough, you can still see them playing this round today.
This is the best thing I'll see all year
I never knew how much I needed this in my life.
I can't believe they made a documentary about us.... lol this was pure GOLD
Very therapeutic gold!
Looks like my game!🤣🤣
Perfect tournament for Riggs!
this made me chuckle
Lol
Damn I’m getting old! I actually remember this from back in the day!
I would feel really comfortable playing with this group.
Saving this in favorites so when I'm feeling down on my golf game I can come here and remember I'm not the worst.
In 2019 Mcllroy shot a four round total of 272
The guy did say he'd be playing 4 rounds of golf...
Angelo shot a 257. Angelo is all of us.
The way Rory is playing recently, Angelo might be able to hang with him on the course.
One guy shot a 66 on one damn hole!!!! That is bad, like Helen Keller playing golf type of bad!
For many years Homero Blancas held the PGA record for 72 holes : 257 😂😂
I would expect to do exactly the same thing. I was waiting for them to get to 17. Soooo funny!!! That man earned that jacket!
Masterpiece.
Crazy to see how much the Par 3 17th has changed
This is awesome. Definitely need a remake in 2021
I have a friend who is a pretty good golfer who usually shoots low 80s or even high 70s on municipal courses. His family bought him a round of golf at Valhalla outside Louisville, the home of many major PGA tournaments. The club required a caddy be employed with the round. There were multiple men's tees from which to choose and he did not hit from the professional one furtherest back. With the help of a caddy he shot an 18 hole round of 107. He didn't seem upset or surprised but said he did the best he could but the course was so long, full of hazards, and the green was shaved thin and hard to putt.
And the PGA Tour pros just tore it to shreds in the PGA Championship
Some of the shots they hit were actually decent
- Recovery from the rough at 2:55
- Shot on the island green at 4:48
- Putt for 66 at 5:40
- Closing bogey at 5:53
4 out of like 750 shots. Good spread
the sun shines on a dog's ass every once in a while lmao
This was surprisingly entertaining they all kept going that's worth a round of applause 👏👏
He made a 12 footer for a 66....ON ONE HOLE!!!!
I have never laughed so hard in my freaking life!!!!
Too much! When the putt dropped, which was a good putt, I thought a 66, damn! Then he said from the one hole 😂
This has the aesthetic of something a sketch comedy show would come up with. Man what a cast of characters lmao
The crocodile was probably thinking "don't feed me with golf balls please"
It takes talent to have this little.
I don't feel as bad playing after watching this 😆😅😂
You haven't played a PGA course either!!!
I'm guessing you aren't near this bad, but PGA courses are meant to humble the world's best golfers! Shooting under 100 on a PGA course is a pretty damn good round.
P.S....I don't mean any PGA course either. Play one right when it is prepped for the pros, and play from the tips!
"The safest place is behind a tree"
*shows Mosser wacking at a ball behind a tree
Angelo Spagnolo. What a guy
😂🤣 I feel a lot better about myself. I've been working on my golf game for about year, I've played a round yet but I'm having trouble with the game . That was hilarious and encouraging. I would love to see more
Whenever I have a bad round of golf, I'm just gonna come back and watch this video.
Classic video great work, need a 2020 version of this!
I just need to video my rounds lol
This could be the finest golf video EVER folks! These guys are my new HEROES too!
Perfection is what this video is.
I love it. A duffer hitting blades! 4:09
Believe it or not those used to be game improvement irons lol
LEGEND HAS IT, THEY ARE STILL ON 17... ONLY JACK PULFORD FINISHED!!
“I’m ok I stand behind a tree they can’t hit me”
Hold my beer.
Middle of the fairway would be the safest place to stand.
Lol. Damn right.
I thought that was an optimistic statement.
This video is a national treasure
Why am I just now seeing this?! That was pure gold.
"He stepped up and crushed a massive drive. A good 80 yards in the general direction of the green." 😂
I am so dead right now laughing and at the same time cheering these guys on.
A massive drive, 80 yards in the general direction of the green🤣😂
"no sandbagging here!" no kidding! lol
That poor course... took a proper hammering.... 257🤣🤣🤣
IF they hosted this tournament today, I’d watch every second
Lady- "they won't hit me if I stand behind a tree"
Me. Uhh... I'll stand by the flag.
This was incredible. Thank you for the upload.
That coverage is friggin' brutal.
"They are not going to hit me as long as I stand behind a tree". CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!!!
This is comedy gold and i would watch this over LIV any day.
3:15 made me spit out my water lmao
7& a half hour round of golf? OMG that had to been brutal
Pros sometimes take in excess of 6 hours.
That's what i tell my missus it takes... That 19th hole takes a good 3 or 4 hours alone.
I had a 6 and half hour once in Portugal and i am still tired from it
“The low round of 179” 😂😂
This is awesome! Needs to be brought back.
3:25: They are not going to hit you if you’re standing in the middle of the dang fairway by the looks of this!
That’s when you put spectators in the middle of the fairway.. the safest place!
I need more of this in my life.
I feel like someone who has never picked up a golf club before could challenge these guys lol
Loved it. Thanks for sharing this with us
That was genuine gut laughing stuff. Brilliant
The lady who said stand behind a tree is crazy those guys are all up in the trees I say stand in the middle of the fairway lol 😂
They're having fun and they get to play at Sawgrass. A definite win-win!
Shoutout to Angelo from Fayette County the county next to westmoreland county where Arnie Palmer from, we got the best golfer and the worst golfer all from Western Pennsylvania!!
This is phenomenal lol. I actually feel pretty good watching these guys 😅
This is fucking hilarious. I wish this was more of a regular thing with the PGA today.
Man, this makes me feel like freaking Tiger 😅
"I stand behind a tree so they don't hit me" Ma'am, may I suggest standing in the middle of the fairway so you don't get hit.
this looks like an SNL skit! i wish i was into golf back then! awesome. simply awesome.
“ a massive drive, 80 yards in the general direction of the hole” 🤣😂🤣😂
At 2:14, I watched Bryson Dechambeau do that live on television this past Sunday.
A legitimate bogey! I'd be telling my grandkids about how pop-pop bogeyed a hole at the famous TPC Sawgrass. 🤣
This is funny. I grew up hitting things with sticks, bats, or clubs. Golf was natural to me at ten years old. I never knew you could be so bad and laugh about it. Now I am 56 and I love guys like this. I still play well, but I love guys like this.
Omg the shot in lake at 3:18, and the two complete whiff shots lmfao!
We need a 2021 version please. That would be the best content....
Great fun back in the day but not now with the knobs they would pick now
The commentary on this is incredible
Get to watch this everyday at work and I work at a city course so we get the creme de le creme of the worst.
I'm sure they saw parts of the course no man or beast had ever trod upon. Can't believe worse golfers than me exist, but here we are.
This really makes me feel good about my own game
Come on! It looked like one of those guys was trying to hit it in the water, LOL!
The winning score here in one day, is what the pro's shoot over four days. What the...!? 🤔😂😂
"A good 80 yards in the general direction" I'm dead.
this would get much higher ratings than LIV
This gives me hope, on being successful.
I don’t know how these guys kept playing...I would’ve quit or thrown my clubs in a pond after a few holes 😂
I remembered reading about this in an old 1980's Golf Digest. I didn't get it then, but after seeing this staged production, get it now, thank you.
I feel like a pro golfers after seeing how these guys played 😂😅😂
They should fo this for every tourney. Have a drawing for randoms or go watch a local course, pick out some bad/regular golfers, and let them shoot a round to see just how insanely good the tour guys are
