We Had THE WORST TIME At Disney's NEW Lookout Cay At Lighthouse Point
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 июн 2024
- Lookout Cay At Lighthouse Point is Disney Cruise line's Newest Private Island destination. We were lucky enough to board the Disney Magic Cruise Ship to be the first to visit Disney Lookout Cay. Lookout Cay at lighthouse point to needs to make some updates. The Way lookout cay is, We found it hard to enjoy fully. Hopefully disney cruise line does something to change this, and be more available to everyone.

"We are on the Mayflower and we're taking our pilgrimage to the new world." Absolutely hysterical!!🤣😆🤣
And that's why I came to the comments. That's new merch right there! Aka "Send it to Darrell" for the the first drink of the day crew... :)
The walk BACK to the ship with kids would be horrendous
Disney should probably add some intermittent shade structures - maybe with H2O misters - but even at a casual stroll pace, this is only a 9 minute walk on a flat, smooth surface. Excluding those with physical limitations, we have become soft, like the passengers of the Axiom from WALL-E.
They also should add some benches in case people start walking out and realize they need a break.
Yup
This is good to know especially walking that long walkway with small children or elderly 😭
Bring a wagon! Lol
@@TravelSpreeOfficial sooo... screw sick, injured, disabled and just plain TIRED people, then?
Screw parents for not bringing equipment ("just bring a wagon!") nobody knew was needed - and that Disney "outlaws" in the parks?
Oh, and screw anyone not local and not able to haul enormous, heavy equipment on a flight (because only Florida people "matter"?)
In other words, the "I got mine, screw everyone else" typical USA attitude.
Well, typical for a certain... "segment"... of the USA.
That island is, objectively, a barren, unfinished, CHEAP hellhole.
It *IS* inaccessible, hot, unshaded, minimal, food was infested with flies, stores were under stocked, bathrooms were sparse and dirty, staff were clueless/lazy, and it is all CHEAP, gaudy, racist, and very poorly done.
And this is the "best" it will look.
That area is all cheap facades slapped on cheap shanties.
It should have been an embarrassment for Disney to "reveal" THIS.
And this was a "god" Joe Rhode project? Where, exactly was his supposed "brilliance"?
Wow, painted thatched roofs and a few gaudy decorative facades?
Big deal.
How absolutely minimal and disrespectful and cliche.
Where is the creativity?
Innovation?
Inclusion of nature?
Inclusion of all people?
And where did aaaaall the money go?
The money for development certainly didn't go into those Walmart quality "luxury" cabanas, cheap beach chairs, or minimal, bare, unimaginative design.
I've seen better quality facades on movie sets.
Disney Imagineering has utterly, utterly failed. Yet again.
Which simply proves all the talented, knowledgeable Imagineers left a LONG time ago.
A *huge* portion of Mexico looks better than this, at nowhere near the cost.
Columbia has a brand new port/zoo area that puts THIS to shame - it is completely accessible, inclusive, innovative, fully shaded, and very enjoyable.
This "resort" looks worse than a cheap national park, except national parks are *mandated by law* to be accessible, shaded, offer faculties that are FREE, to be built robustly and of good quality materials, and nobody LIES about national parks being ever sooooooo "creative" or "luxury" or "innovative".
National parks are functional, accessible, inclusive, informative and planned by experts.
Disney talked big about this project, and then delivered...
This. 💩
Why on earth can't vloggers talk about the REALITY in front of them?
Is it sunk cost fallacy?
Once you pay for a cheap Disney "cruise" (that *isn't* a *real* cruise, and goes essentially nowhere, and certainly doesn't explore or respect other cultures).
The "private island" three-day-specials with deep discounts for locals are the absolutely cheapest offerings Disney has.
Do vloggers feel they HAVE to justify even that minimal cost by never mentioning problems?
That's so dishonest.
Refusing to discuss problems means offering nothing USEFUL, new, or CONSTRUCTIVE.
Every time Americans have the opportunity to PROVE equality, their actions prove they don't really believe in *actual* equality.
That's true for both corporations and individuals.
Corporations are composed of the demands of individuals, they do not make decisions themselves.
Instead of simply being inclusive and honest, at least half of Americans - and their corporations - have to be threatened and sued into inclusion, decency, respect and sharing.
If Americans really believed in equality, all instances of accessibility failures would be a HUGE ISSUE, deeply offensive, unacceptable, and a dealbreaker for all until EVERYONE was included.
But that isn't what happens, is it? Instead the privileged ignore everything unjust.
The reality is, everyone *will* become severely ill or disabled, if they live long enough.
The vast majority of people will also be parents, either deliberately or "by accident", and all people will be elderly, if they are still here.
The inaccessible, bigoted society that the privileged permit now... is the future for them.
And they deserve it.
I a totally turned off by it¸ what they charge for a cruise and THAT is what they are offering? Disney? Oh well no!
Pushing a wheelchair will be a nightmare
They better get some trams running from the ahip to the island and back cuz little kids aren't gonna want to walk that
Yeah I’d be curious to see what families think of the walk
Unfortunately I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. From what I've read it seems like it's not structurally sound for consistent transportation from ship to shore. They do have transportation for those with disabilities but walking will likely be the only option for most a long time. I would imagine they will add shade though!
Yes, Disney is known for generations traveling together, I don't see Grandma and Grandpa going to the island. I hope they are not done with the walk way
I think it’s going to be us moms pushing the kids in strollers & carrying their backpacks… and leaving Grandpa on the boat.
@@TravelSpreeOfficial We know why they did it, but we have zero interest in going. A lot of things bother me about this island, but the lack of chairs and umbrellas along the beach is the worst. There's no way I can relax or sit on that upper part bc I need to be able to watch my kids. And I can't imagine Grandma walking all that way to look at the back of a chair. It just looks like so much stress to me. Maybe they'll make some changes, but there's a reason they put the expensive cabanas at the end of the pier.
It's not a private island, it's Eleuthera. It is an island in the Bahamas with people who are very proud and some who are not very happy about the whole Disney takeover of the Southern part of the island. Some of that "private beach" to the North is public.
There are other ships that dock on the other side of the island.
The walkway/ dock was built that way to try to preserve the coral reefs.
That’s garbage. Disney destroyed the natural reef and got away with it by reseeding baby coral that will take tens of years to grow to the size of what they destroyed. This whole enterprise is an environmental disaster for Eleuthera.
They can still have shade
They can still use trams
They can still have benches, water stations, cooling sprays.
But the walk BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWS!!!
Very helpful info - I appreciate your honest impressions, which are rare among the early vloggers who are eager to please Disney. You never know if you’re watching an ad.
I am not myself when I am hot either!!
Pier runners better stretch before making that dash though 🤦🏽♂️🤣
🤣🤣🤣
😅😂 first thought was about pier runners…lol,
@@anitaclue9868omg I just showed my 9 year old and she just laughed and said “piers runners have to get ready” 😂😂😂
😂😂
This!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Surprised water baby Laura didn't try to swim back to avoid the insane walk! 😂😂
Lmao I should’ve
This is why we only Cruise in the month of December through the end of March. The weather is absolutely beautiful in the Caribbean that time and rarely do you sweat. Nice video 👌🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I loved your video. Love you guys! Thank you for keeping it real and honest with us. I saw Kyle’s I was not about the flies on the food. But seeing the ocean helped me change my perspective because that be worth it. Also loved your merch hall on Disney. I hope you guys got something.
That walk is just way too long for littles, elderly and the physically challenged. It’s even worse because there is no shade and no benches. Perhaps Disney expects to use golf carts when necessary. If there is enough backlash, they’ll address it.
Just trying to imagine carrying a sleeping toddler all the way back to the ship, no thanks. Disney should know better.
It’s 0.48 miles and they have wagons available. I’m sure people walk far further than that in Disney theme parks 🏰
Thank you for sharing this. Wow what a long walk.
Ben and David had a similar reaction to the length of that walk haha
Yes! And it must have been fly season when Ben & David visited because the buffets were full of flies! Enough to send you back as hangry as hot after that epic hike back to the ship...oy vey!
No amount of relaxing on the beach is going to erase the memory of that walk back. That's the last memory you are leaving the island with. When we were at CC, we stayed until the last trams and zipped back to the ship. It was delightful because we were still high on beach fun when getting back on the ship.
I love your name, it's too bad we couldn't have met on the cruise that would have been funny
@@mattdewberry5728 Hahaha! They say "coincidence if traced far enough back becomes inevitable" but that is a doozy of a coincidence, lol!
great vid, love you guys
Love you both! Always get excited when you guys post!! 🙌🏼
We 🩷 you!
I purchased that fan a while ago from your Amazon store. I put it aside and found it just before our May cruise. OMG, total game changer. I told my partner, whatever you have to take out of your suitcase to get this fan to fit is worth it!! We turned it on getting ready because of the hair dryer. We ran it every night to move the air sleeping. We used it from the floor and tables. It was amazing! Thanks!
Literally the best Amazon purchase we’ve ever made hahaha it’s the best!!!
Thanks so much for getting this video up so quickly!! I'm gonna share this with my LP sailing FB group!
Appreciate that!!
Seems very hot on the island with little shade...looking forward to getting there. Thanks for sharing!
Great video. Thank you!
Great tour, great shots and great narration as usual! You guys rock! The beach is BRAND NEW. See how they are able to maintain the beach after a hurricane or two. Some of the things that you found to be deficient may be because you all are basically the first large group on the island. Kind of like the inaugural cruise on a new ship. Disney may have rushed some things because they did not want to miss opening in time for this tourist season. Just a thought. Congratulations on your engagement and up coming wedding! You guys are awesome! Thanks for sharing your adventures plus! 😎😎😎
Thank you for the review
It’s for conservation so Disney didn’t dig up the coral reef next to the island…but it definitely needs a tram!
I heard a tram was in the original plan but got scrapped due to budget reasons. Sounds like budget cuts happened around where they were already committed to the project. Just speculation, though.
It was so nice meeting you guys in the elevator aboard the ship! That bridge was definitely rough (and pushing a wheelchair), but the island was so beautiful.
Having just experienced the island, I can understand exactly what you guys are talking about. Great video!
My friend is on this with you. She loved it. Just watched cruise with Ben and David and they gushed about how fabulous it was. Such different opinions from two couples on the same day of the same event.
I see you fought the flies off for the food.
"I'm Not me when ii'm hot" is a great tee shirt idea Run With it Put out the merch!!!!!!!!!! Your so cute..
I’m an old lady with hot flashes and I can say I believe my head may have done the exorcist thing a few times… I’d buy one.
That beach is 10/10 beautiful 🤩
I loved this review.
Great googley moogley 😂😂😂
😂😅
This is the first video the algorithm suggested of yours but I subscribed super quick and you two are A-dorable! Congrats on the engagement and here’s to many happy adventures 🎉
That is the WORST! I would not want to walk that because of the heat factor and no shade. I would end up staying on the boat. They need trams for people to enjoy the island. Thanks for sharing this.
I had booked the Magic May 2025 specifically to experience Lookout Cay. I will stay on the ship. Period.
Exactly!! 💯
@@elaineeike5363maybe they'll have trams by then. That walkway looks like it's made for trams!
Love the beach the water is so beautiful.🎉🎉🎉
That water looks amazing!
Absolutely beautiful beach tho, so worth the walk. And you are right about the rocks at Grand Turk. Still, spectacular water.
I’m only a couple minutes in but I can tell you right now that island better be all inclusive with free foot massages if I’m walking that.
I think this video is going to save a lot of people! Lol.
What a gorgeous natural island, can't wait to go!
Hope you have the best time!!
The island looks beautiful.
For sure they should have some shade and maybe some benches for people to rest. It is good that they are preserving the area with the ships docking that far away.
Oooo the benches are such a good thought!!😊
That ending was 🔥
A 12 minute walk doesn't seem so bad for a relaxing time on the island. Plus if you have been to the Disney parks you are walking all day so what's 12 minutes? It's summer in the Bahamas, wear a hat and bring your water bottle.
That easy huh? lol ok
@@TravelSpreeOfficial Yes. :)
12 minutes for young adult fast walkers. But nearly 100 degrees at like 11am isn't good for anyone not used to it, especially pale northerners, children, seniors and people with disabilities.
The walk BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWS!!!
That's a great point. People who cruise Disney probably go to the parks too. You walk all day at the parks.
I keep waiting for the "Gemstones" to appear on the island... lol!!!
All things aside, it was absolutely fabulous getting to meet you all in person!!!
Looks like a great beach! I dread the walk back though! Hopefully Disney has plans to add a tram, carts, or maybe Pedicabs.
Wow…that is an insanely long walk from the ship to the island in the heat with no shade or transportation. That is a huge fail!
Yes the travel fan has been a staple for me and my husband. We have two and take it everywhere.
We go next year…hope Disney listens and adds shade! Pre knee surgery I was ok but now it’s making me nervous🥺 walking in heat + cement = swollen knee🤦🏻♀️
My family is going next year too. My dad is in a wheelchair, my sister will have finish chemo and her surgeries, and I have a bad knee. This makes me so mad. The walk is so dangerous. Heat stroke waiting to happen.
@@deo3367 my understanding is they have the golf carts for those who need it. And if I'm correct they have those big wheeled beach wheel chairs. Not sure how well those work though. But that walk, lack of shade almost everywhere, and all those flies. Not sure I would get off the ship. Not sure it's worth it.
We have a cruise that’s scheduled to stop here in December. I’m not sure about LP now. Maybe I should wait until it’s more developed. There’s very little shade!!
the way I choked when I saw the walk. I REALLY hope they are working on getting that covered because a 10+ minute walk in the bahamian sun could be enough to give someone heat stroke...
AWESOME job Disney!!!👍👍
Hey!! I just "met" you guys today after coming across your channel and instantly subscribed; you're so unique and fun!! So happy to have found you!
With my autoimmune disease, the sun and I can have knockdown, drag out fights. That dock walk will be the death of me. I guess I definitely won't be checking this island out!! 🥵🥵🤒
"Great googly moggly, that thang is juicy!" 😂😂
You just gave my hubby a new saying dude! 😂😂
Thanks so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video Laura and Fain! Have to agree, wasn’t really getting Disney vibes (give ‘em a few years to improve it). But that beautiful, cool blue water … that was something else!
Congrats on your engagement guys. Sending you love from Australia 🇦🇺 💙🫶
Thank you so much!!
I'm booked on Disney's November 4th sailing to Lighthouse Point and clicked onto your video to see the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Great information guys. That’s the green mile….lol
Love yall and thank you as always for letting me tag along. 💙🙌💙
As a redhead, I'd have a sunburn before arriving from that walk. 15 minutes in direct sun would ruin my vacation after that point. A "Nope" here until things get built up.
i grew up loving the disney cruise. love your channel:)
Thanks for such an honest review. I think we can relate to being so hot you can't even enjoy yourself.
The walk reminds me of when the trams were not running at Disneyland and you had to walk a mile. Not so bad in the morning but at night after a long park day it was brutal!
ngl i was on board with the walk but my feet started to blister real bad on my second walk back, i 100% agree that some tram system would be super helpful especially with how many families disney cruises tend to pull. great video! fun to look back on the “maiden voyage” again haha
I had heard that they cannot run trams on the pier for multiple reasons. The pier had to be that long to preserve the coral reefs in the surrounding area. Also, to help preserve the reefs the pier had to be built in a way that cannot handle large trams and permanent shade structures. They could put up temporary shade structures but they would have to be disassembled very quickly in the event of inclement weather and with the pier being so long I doubt they would put many up if at all. It is nice to see that they can use golf carts for anyone that needs to use them but the walk doesn't seem that long, unless it is excruciatingly hot.
It might have been better to be a tender port than a pier one. That would open up the availability to everyone
@@TravelSpreeOfficial Agreed, the only downside to that would be the amount of time it takes to get everyone off the boat. Still will be a nice place to visit I think!
It's almost a mile one way!
“Walk doesn’t seem that long…” ya. You tell that to my families with disabilities, people who cannot tolerate heat, people with little kids… there are WAY better options than that crap.
@@deo3367 I agree with you that it sucks for those with little ones and those with disabilities, especially in the heat. They do have golf carts for those that cannot make the long walk. Not sure how many golf carts they have and how often they run though. I do hope Disney does something to fix the pier to make it accessible for everyone.
Pier is 1/2 mile long...That is longer then walking end to end across Magic Kingdom. Its like walking from entrance to world showcase around to middle of American Adventure area..
I love you guys!!!!
It looks so miserable and hot. Thanks for a great video. Thanks
Walking is great on a cruise so much eating! I never use an elevator either.umbrellas and water is a must walking in high heat!
The beach front on Half Moon Cay is awesome too.
It's so beautiful. That water!!! I feel like a beautiful resort would have been a better fit for that island.
Yes! I had the same exact thought. 🤷🏻♀️
@@katcalico9142 great minds.
Nope. Definitely don't need a resort there.
I booked a DCL cruise next year specifically for the two island stops - the lack of transportation to family beach as I’ll be with a senior and two little kids, this looks like a nightmare for accessibility getting on/off pier. Ugh.
Sorry I missed the video live. I work 6 days a week at the moment. Training for a new management position, and I have a few more weeks to train. But glad to see you both. Hot here in San Antonio, Texas too, lol
Glad you caught the replay 😊
The oceanfront at half Moon cay is absolutely stunning
can't wait to get on the Disney Fantasy in March to try Castaway cay and Lighthouse point!
Sounds exciting!!
Dang Disney. Thank God my first Disney cruise will be going to Castaway Cay & not here lol
Omg not the Atlanta water boys - core memory unlocked
You know why the pier is so far away. Right? Same with the elevated boardwalks? But yes, they have to have golf carts or transportation for guests with mobility issues. Otherwise, the half mile walk shouldn't be too bad.
Walking is good and something too many people don’t like doing nowadays. It might help people work off the excess food they will have eaten at the bbq earlier in the day.
Thank you Steven
It would be hard for me to walk that with a bad foot!!
We are going next April and I’m hoping they have finished more of the island including shade on the walkway. Still looks amazing for just opening. I have 2 of those fans and used them on my previous Disney cruises. They are the best!
I plan to jump in the pool with my pool clothes on before crossing the Sahara. haha
That walk would really suck after my 5 margaritas on the beach 😂😂
The headline didn't match the content because you didn't seem like you were having a horrible time.
That beach looks like a dream come true! I am 52 and never been able to leave MN/WI. I never have extra money. ❤❤❤❤
LOL 3min. in and you two are having a complete different experience than my other cruise influencers.
You've probably have been told, But it is said as Key... for Castaway Cay & Lookout Cay.
All of Eleuthera has amazing beaches but you are on one of the most amazing beaches in the world!
Eleuthera is not a private island. It is 110 miles long. The area you are in is now private due to Disney’s purchase.
We go on Disney cruises occasionally but after seeing that walk from the ship to the shore, I think we would literally not even get off the ship! I don't blame you guys for being a little peeved about that walk in the hot sun, and no shade. Not us, they better fix that, or we'll stay on the ship. Disney!!!!! Give us trams to shore!!! Wow! Thanks for the stream, guys!!
This looks like a resort preview and so I hope you paid preview prices. I saw in another channel that some areas weren't even open at all. That's definitely a preview. Disney has some work still to do to get this up to par. And on the pier, even just a few shaded areas to give people a chance to stop and cool off a bit would be helpful.
I wouldn’t feel comfortable walking children in that heat in the summer. Did it have a pool?
A pool? On the island? There are pools on the ships. If your first stop is Nassau, stay on the ship and ride the water slide on the ship.
@@kcr1969 I asked about a pool because it was a lot of walking and it would be refreshing for little children. Most of those private islands have water parks with slides so please don’t act like this is far fetched.
There is a splash pad
No pool! Would’ve been a cool addition
@@TravelSpreeOfficial Right with a swim up bar overlooking the ocean would have been amazing that sun looked hot. Love you guys!!
Everything looks pretty, but the last thing I wanna do on any island is walk a mile to find a shade somewhere
I’ll stay with cococay half moon cay or msc ocean cay
i think you should try an Alaska cruise. the Bahamas and Caribbean islands are HOT HOT HOT from April through November.
Omg that walk with sandy kids and all the beach crap that they entail…brutal. But it’s not like you can bring a stroller or wagon because the cruise cabins are so small that they’d be annoying to store
Just FYI, it looks like you could rent strollers and wagons.
Also, you are directly on to the island right off the end of the bridge. Castaway has a long walk once on the island too. So its give and take it seems like.
Can’t wait to see this island btw you resemble lady Penelope featherington 😊❤ she’s flawless 🔥
Yeah. Not impressed. Too much walking and of on a longer chair you can’t see the beach/water. Hate sand dunes.
I believe they built that long pier is because of a coral reef on the outskirts of the Island. They dont want the ship to get stuck nor sustain damage from the coral reef.
Eleuthera itself is an awesome place to visit. Rock sound, Governor’s Harbour, glass window bridge, preachers cave, day trip to Harbour island or Spanish wells, french leave beach….Lighthouse point used to be a great place to visit but now you’re not allowed to go unless you’re on the cruise. I hope in the future it will look like what happened to club med
