Hey as long as your laptop is throttling like crazy, no need to bother. But still rule of thumb is clean every 6-7 months, depending on how dusty your place is. The Nitro should be fine for at least a year though. It's quite cool.
You are mistaking the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut with the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut which is liquid metal (Gallium). Liquid Metal will eat through Aluminum in no time.
it's advisable to use kryonaut only on GPU and something more thick on the CPU. As laptop CPU generally run hotter than GPU underload. You will find CPU will pump put kryonaut after a few months whereas GPU averaging 70c under load will last alot longer. Also recommend Honeywell PTM 7950 for CPU as it provides excellent heat transfer for laptops heat range.
After applying thermal paste, the peak temps are same with and without undervolting in this test and here there was no undervolting. But regardless, I still undervolt my laptop, as it reduces idle temps. Every single day of around 3 years of usage, I first turn on Throttlestop every time I boot up my laptop. It's my habit.
Kryonaut is among the most expensive and high quality thermal pastes on the market. Compared to the rather cheap and often badly applied paste the manufacturer uses, this is a realistic (though high) difference.

The paste itself does not expire or go bad that quickly. It may dry out over the course of 5-10 years. However, it must be replaced every time the heatsink is disassembled from the cpu/gpu. Laptops clog easily with dust and other residue. How frequently you need to clean the laptop depends on how often you use it and how dusty its environment is. Usually you should do it every 6 months in dirty environments (like using the laptop on a bed) or every 2 years with very clean environments (frequently wiped desk in a frequently dust wiped room). A few laptop manufacturers have implemented ways to remove the cooler fan without removing the whole heatsink/heatpipe, allowing to clean it to a high degree without needing to reapply thermal paste.

Hey Predator master Opoka! Would you teach us something new soon? Maybe new undervolt video for gtx1060 with the newest msi afterburner settings, because i get in almost every game crash or freezing with old undervolt stats :))
Late answer but I hope it still helps. The screws in a normal laptop are standard PH0 sized philips head (the + head, for everyone not american) screws. A few manufacturers are known to use tri-wing screws (they look like the mercedes logo) on low budget Laptops instead, to prevent the average people from opening the devices. If you damaged a screw while attempting to get it out, try putting a rubber band in between the screw head and the screwdriver and pressing the screwdriver strongly on the screw while turning it. An absolute last resort is wd40. It is not conductive so you don't damage anything, but it is still oil based so it is a nightmare to clean up. Also it might leak into the contact points of ribbon cables which are fragile and hard to clean. So wd40 is an absolute last resort that should never be used if it can be avoided in any way.

Slowly slowly it will degrade.. but before the thermal paste dries up, dust becomes a bigger issue, by the next 7-8 months there will be enough dust to cause mild issues.. and then major issues like bsod by around 12 months.. depends on the dust levels and climate of the region.

@@DeepteshLovesTECH yes
Great sir... Should i change thermal pad (blue color pad) as well ??
not neccessary.
On the Internet some of people said this thermalpaste created a problem for a laptop which has aluminum cooling. Is that right
You are mistaking the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut with the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut which is liquid metal (Gallium).
Bro I haven't repasted in the last 1.5 years. Thermal Grizzly works perfectly for my Helios 300.
How do you like the kryonaut after 6 months?
No issues, it's performing well.
Average increase in temps by 2-3°C.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH when do you suggest repasting? or should I go for one that lasts longer?
Hi, in this video, is there any undervolting applied? The temperature drop you have is massive.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH I am going to put the kryonaut now on my 2.5 years old ROG strix, your video is the last video i am referring to, wish me luck.
Kryonaut is among the most expensive and high quality thermal pastes on the market. Compared to the rather cheap and often badly applied paste the manufacturer uses, this is a realistic (though high) difference.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH bro, I have one more question. I have the same laptop as yours and I using your video as a guide to cleaning/repasting my one. I live in India as well and it's very dusty where I live. How often do you clean and repaste your laptop? Also, do you notice any pump out effects with the kryonaut? I have ordered the paste from amazon already.

Yup Kryonaut will be best, it has the best thermal conductivity among electrically non conductive pastes.
Also clean the heat sink fins, remove the blanket of dust.

y540 is quite old, not sure if you have cleaned it or not, but definitely you should open up and clean the heat sinks and then repaste with this or Arctic MX-4.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH i have cleaned the fans and now m thinking of repasting , some say that kryonaut drys up after some month and stuff so m confused which paste to buy
@@darthvader44 thermal grizzly kryonaut is the best paste to apply clean old paste thoroughly wait for sometime apply evenly on GPU cpu and vram apply fully not just pea method. And undervolt ur cpu i7 9750h go between -150 to -170 after this ur cpu will be running between 68 - 75°C on full load gpu reaches maximum 70 in worst case scenario
How long does these temps last before you need to change the thermal paste again?
Ideally you should change every 6 months.. as dust builds up blocking the heat sink fins. So while cleaning, why not repaste it...
How is it holding after a year?
Absolutely great, although I haven't pushed this laptop as hard as I normally did in 2021.
But normal usage, Absolutely great even now. One big reason is the laptop is kept in a way so that it collects less dust.
How long should this paste last before it dries out?
This thermal paste is a good quality one, same or better as Noctua's. It will last for a long time.
hello brother, how much does this thermal paste last? do we need to repaste often?
It's still perfect for me, it depends on your environment/dust etc. Just monitor your performance over the year.
I saw a lenvovo legion 5 r5 1660ti 120Hz for just 77k in Lenovo official website. Is this a great deal.

hi. i own a msi gf65 thin. i unscrewed the fans and heat sinks but it wasn't coming out. it is glued to the board. is it normal? should i apply force? how should i proceed?
No it shouldn't be glued in. I haven't done any disassembly but I haven't seen any MSI laptop or any laptop with glued heat sinks. You need a little force to pull because the heat spreader over the CPU GPU get a bit sticky due to the thermal paste. You have to wiggle it out.

@@SatyakiMandal35 it's probably the screws of your system has got corroded. Probably due to the atmosphere at your place.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH so what to do now
Late answer but I hope it still helps.
