    A couple potential improvements:
    - It might be helpful to create a lock mechanism for the drill arm, like using connectors or something similar. Alternatively, go whacky and use overengineered hinges instead of pistons as they seem a lot less wiggly.
    - For W4sted's rover, it might be better to use the logic of "if there IS NO player within control area, stop the rover" instead of "if there IS a player within just-outside-control-area, stop the rover". That way it will never try to run away, even if you lag out. You could probably do it using a player sensor that covers the control area, which toggles the other sensors for each individual control on/off?

  • @ShuRugal
    @ShuRugal 3 дня назад +2

@00:36:00 - why don't you do your drill rig the same way you did the boarding ramp at the rear? Hinge, piston, hinge, piston, (opt: hinge), drill? that way you can fold it up nice and compact, away from the ground.

one tip for TFE and everyone else who needs it:
with the aero mod you can literally build a spoiler for your car so it doesnt lift up and do a wheely, the same way slopes create lift they can create downforce if placed forwards (the modpage even has a video for it, a bit dated but should still work the same), so build either front or back spoiler or just generally design your rover with a downsloping front
also splitsie, whats the "impersonating a priestess" thing? i havent watched all of your content and if i did i forgot, or what ever that may reference
also also im pretty sure you fell out so often because of the trees, nearly everytime you fell the rover hit a tree and got stuck for a second

    • @Splitsie

Re: "right of way" - the vessel with the least ability to maneuver has right of way:
Vessels in distress - highest priority
    unpowered vessels - middle priority
    powered vessels - lowest priority
Within each of those distinct "categories", all vessels technically have the same right of way rules to follow:
The vessel to your right has the right of way
you have the right of way over the vessel to your left
vessels approaching head-to-head must both yield by turning to the right
if you are overtaking a vessel, or approaching a stationary vessel, that vessel has the right of way.
The "size" based right of way is somewhere between a courtesy and an unwritten law: if you are in a speedboat and refuse to give way to an oil tanker from your left, you are legally in the right, but you're a dick. and you might be a dead dick. If you intentionally maneuver yourself to have right of way by "position" over less maneuverable vessel, you'll probably be found at fault for anything which results from that.
The aviation world uses these same rules, with some additional aviaiton-specific details like "when approaching to land, the aircraft which is at the lower altitude has right of way" added in.

You know, if you REALLY want to you could set up throttle + steering by building an analog computer.
You might not be able to do maths with event controllers and timer blocks, but that does't mean you can't to maths at all.
Stack three rotors, set the first two to the input angles, lock down the rotor-part of the third with a mag-plate and monitor its angle as the output.
In your case, you'd only need one more set of event controllers.
Make a central throttle leaver, add two rotors co-axially with the hinge on either side, and use the extra set of event controllers to make the inner two rotors match your steering hinge/rotor.
Then lock the rotor-parts of the outter pair and point your existing speed controllers to monitor those rotors instead of the current hinges. (You'd have to invert one side by changing from >= to

@@Splitsie yeah, I think the idea is in the "bad enough that it'll be entertaining" category, because I'm not sure that it'd work, but it'll be really funny/dumb when it does. some other ideas include: building a bridge, piston/hinge pole vault over,
just make the rover longer until it can just drive over.

Hi Splitsie.Unfortunately I can't watch the live stream.
I'm only on the first hour of the video.
The problem with the levers wobbling could be due to the weight.
Have you tried using neon tubes?
Saludos desde Argentina. I always watch your videos, I have a lot of fun, greetings to all the guys

Yeah, I should have a look at how low I can get the CoM with them but was also thinking of maybe cutting a hole in the floor and using rotors instead so I could have a counterweight below

Maybe? But even if it can, it can't propel itself forward once in the water :P

I love you guys whining about American taxes.
I'm not an American citizen, wasn't born there, never been there, never worked there, never earned anything from any American Company and don't have any American investments.
But because I had the audacity to be born in a country on the American FATCA naughty boys list....(60 years ago).....I am required to fill in forms detailing all my earning, sources of income and details about all my relatives for any new bank or investment.

Yeah they really suck. It's especially annoying when my own country's tax equivalent are usually very easy to deal with and lenient

@43:35 - perfect summary of why i HATE video tutorials.
just write it down with some screenshots. If you know so little about what you are doing that the only way you can make a "tutorial" is by recording yourself doing it on video at speed, then you don't know it well enough to be teaching others.

For stuff like photoshop/premiere etc I prefer written tutorials too, though for games I prefer a video, I think because with games there's often that advantage of being able to see something from multiple viewpoints (at least in 3d first person games)
