"The warriors have brought back the elevator action" If they brought it back so where did it originated from? And why it had to be brought back in a first place if it's so effective? Would have been awesome if this was explained in a video
something it originated in GSW, but it was a play from Marc Jackson's playbook, and they didn't run it that much since he left, but it was a staple when he was there. He should've never been fired. Great coach.
Kevin agv, it's an old play. GSW didn't originate that play. SA has been running that a lot before GSW became relevant. But I'm not saying it is originated in SA.
Relax And Work It originated in SA but Golden State perfected it and it became their signature play because they have such good 3-point shooters. They stopped using it when Kerr came in because I guess he didn't like the play but brought it back because it's so effective with KD
Lol no he wasnt, its no surprise that as soon as Kerr showed up with actual offensive sets, the warriors became exponentially better. The shooters and the defense were there, but the offense and the current chemistry comes from Kerr.
Vijay Patel if you have seen the mavericks offense it is basically the same as the raptors maybe a bit more movement so I guess Casey just used what he learned there
Coach, teams that have previously done a great job at hiding their point guard on defense (celtics and cavs for example) are having a tougher time not geting exploited for the bad point guard defense this year. I'd love an article or breakdown explaining why this is.
Jarrod Castillo Yeah they were. Spurs have been using it for years after time outs. However, I've only seen them run it ATO, so it's not as prevalent as their staples like the loop.
Spurs were actually running this before the gsw, if you could remember the 2014 finals. They run Swing, which turns to Horns, then to elevator screens, and if all were anticipated, they went for the pick&roll, all in a single play. That was pretty confusing for their opponents.
can you make a video bout the development of Gordon Hayward... he's developed into a real star player and a top SF. im finna comment this on every video til you do, so yuhh
Carmel coach Nick made a video a year or so ago about how most teams get away with illegal screens nowadays. Most handoffs look like illegal screens to me
@@MoDakhil1 This. The key is that the player setting the screen has to be 'set' before the defender gets there. Not during, or after but before. If the offensive player is still moving, it's a moving screen.
Warriors brought the elevator back and everyone is capitalizing on it. Or it could be that 2 of the 3 teams that were shown to use the elevator in the video have coaches that were with the Warriors over the last couple of seasons.
Cool. It seems that one of the players guarding the pick players can read this and follow the shooter out, or better, anticipate the pass to the shooter and steal it. I can see Lebron doing this.
This commentator talk like the Warriors originated that play. But nope, I'd seen Spurs do this action a lot before the Warriors became relevant. I'm not saying it is originated in SA, but also it isn't originated in GS.
I like Hardens Pick and Foul play, really it revolutionizes the game of basketball
LeBeautiful W
Yeah, that thought occurred to me. If the defender is right on the shooter's butt, they won't be able to close the doors legally.
you can move backwards as a screener. actually, its natural to do so cos you're being pushed back, what do you expect him to do? move away?
Anyone who has played MyCareer on NBA 2k as a PG or SG hates when GSW run this play for Curry or Klay.
lol there's nothing you can do
+Tuyen Osborne haha, true
Spurs also run it as a BLOB for Green and LMA, and when Messina was coach for one game(pop got ejected), he used a simple elevator set too
+philip yang oh, nice
break down klay's defense. There are articles pointed out people's impression on Klay's defense contradicts his defensive numbers.
The Elevator Play has its ups and downs.
Osman Iqbal bruuuh
Osman Iqbal dude
+Osman Iqbal 😂🏀💪
Gotta put it on hold sometimes.
That's a W
YES MO! I can hear more emotion through your narration, f-n good job my man!
haha, I'm trying my man. Thanks man

Another great video. Wow. You deserve way more subs
+Justin Stlouis thx! We're getting there...
If only my Raptors would run actually offensive plays like this, instead of calling P&R iso each play.
Vijay Patel if you have seen the mavericks offense it is basically the same as the raptors maybe a bit more movement so I guess Casey just used what he learned there
Vijay Patel if you guys did then Derozan & Lowry would've never developed into the offensive stars they are now
DIMES Yeah they wouldnt. :( They would've been more efficient and would've made it easier for other players on the team to be better offensively.
They won lol

Need to review that insane Wizards vs Cavs game!!
plays we love elevator action. Great video!!
Coach, are you going to make a video on the Cavs-Wizards OT amazing game, where Lebron hit a 3 with 0.3 seconds left to tie the game?
If I remember correctly, wasn't San Antonio using it more prevalently before Golden State?
Go search up Kevin Love's gamewinner against the Clippers. The elevator is nothing new, it's just that the warriors are the most deadly with it
Jarrod Castillo Yeah they were. Spurs have been using it for years after time outs. However, I've only seen them run it ATO, so it's not as prevalent as their staples like the loop.

+Samuel McLeod 💪🏀👊
Jarrod Castillo that's who Kerr got it from

The first time i saw this was in 2014 playoffs when the spurs ran it perfectly against portland
But doesn't it look like a moving screen a lot of the times?
i have the same question here
It's all about timing. There will definitely be times where it can be a moving screen if you aren't careful.

Make a video on how to defend the elevator play (i.e, switch, hedge, go under, etc)
+Gabe 905 good idea!
Hey coach are you goin to make a video about the heat they playing crazy lately
My favorite play
more stuff like this
Liked the insight, but the commentary at the end was kinda weird with the rhythm and tone. But we're here for the breakdowns
hi coach can you make a breakdown for miami wins thanks
I run this shit in 2k. great play
Mark Rubin What's it called there?
Elevator 22 some shit like that. Spurs playbook
How about a vid on the improved heat? if u think its worthy :D
The negative with elevator plays is the moving screen foul
You must mean plays that you love...
+WestBEAST 4 MVP no way you don't love this
bball breakdown isn't just one person
WestBEAST 4 MVP lmao
I didn't even know many plays until I watched this channel but ehhhh...
how about the 2016 cavs offense the brons takeover
Cool. It seems that one of the players guarding the pick players can read this and follow the shooter out, or better, anticipate the pass to the shooter and steal it. I can see Lebron doing this.
Forgiven Sinner but also risk his man wide open going to the hoop. The communication must be precise in this situation
Look at the clip of Anthony Davis slipping to the rim when Taj Gibson jumps out too far.
Only works because illegal screens are now legal.. or at least uncommonly called.
This commentator talk like the Warriors originated that play. But nope, I'd seen Spurs do this action a lot before the Warriors became relevant. I'm not saying it is originated in SA, but also it isn't originated in GS.
I said they brought it back, not originated it, coaches always take from each other. Very hard to figure out who started some sets.
Illegal screen
Only difference is GSW makes the shots lmao
next vid: why knicks suck?
First
+Sergio The GOAT yes!
this guy is dying
I am? That's not good.
yep ..
