    I cried a lot in that scene of her and her father where she was singing and he is feeling the song through the vibrations in her neck. Hands down to one of the most touching scenes in film history.

      I read in wiki that she's been in some musical shows since childhood. Her father is Aled Jones, UK singer&actor.

      @@YTantirungrotechai I know that, i did some research about her after watching CODA and her other stuff. The Jones generation is passed to the right people. I'm not aware that her father is a singer, but considering he is a singer and very popular in the UK, i can see why his daughter is good at singing too

      Deaf Theatre West is creating a stage CODA. Their Big River & also Spring Awakening were amazing productions, I hope she can reprise CODA role when they hit Broadway
      BTW been annoyed wasn’t up for best actress but now I realize she has British accent I’m absolutely gobsmacked

    My mum is a Coda with 2 deaf parents and a deaf brother so it was crazy and emotional to watch exactly what my mum went through in a movie!

      The emotion she has when Ruby communicates with her family is what has me watch that movie over and over and over.. I’ve always loved ASL and Marlee and Daniel for a long time now.. and wow Troy I need more things with him in it.. Emilia is going to be huge .. I have to go watch Locke and key now thank you

    gotta say, Jimmy’s a much better interviewer in this clip than he’d been the past 5 years. Barely interrupted, kept his laughter to a minimum, actually had a couple decent jokes, flow of conversation actually mostly unforced…

    Absolutely BRILLIANT young lady. She learned sign language, how to speak with an American accent and how to work a fishing boat, in a stunningly short span of time. Annnnnnd she is an outstanding actress in the movie - should have been nominated for an Oscar, imo. My hats off to this gifted actress.

    What an incredible person. She’s so real. You can just tell. And she’s an amazing talent. Her singing is so fantastic, I can’t believe she didn’t grow up in musical theater. The movie is a home run. Stupendous.

    First of all I LOVE CODA, the entir cast was PERFECT Her cover of "Both Sides Now' leaves me bawling like a baby every time! Secondly Jimmy Fallon has a heart of gold. A simple gift mad Emilia Jones SO HAPPY!! I bet she'll treasure it forever

    After seeing several interviews with the cast of CODA , it seems that Marlee and the other deaf actors that she was working closely with as well they are cast as her family, really took her under they’re wings so to speak and encouraged her, helped her with the ASL , etc . Young 17 year old girl at the time of filming …

    That clip was Troy Kotsur's Oscar- winning moment. From that clip you don't even notice he's deaf. You just see how much he loves his little girl and how much it makes his heart ache to let her go out on her own into the world.

    I've actually known about her for quite some time and wasn't sure if she'd ever get her big break, but then when season 1 of Locke & Key premiered back in 2020, I immediately predicted that she'd be an A-list star/the next big thing. So glad to she that that prediction is coming true

    What's also wonderful is a CODA in music is a passage that brings a piece to an end. It's a wonderful double meaning title!

    The clip they showed made me sob harder than any other film this year. Andrew Garfield singing "Why" in Tick Tick Boom was right up there too. Both he and Troy Kotser deserve Oscars. Emilia was fantastic as well. Agree with another comment that said both she and Alana Haim should've been nominated.

    FYI:
    CODA - Child Of Deaf Adults also means, the end or towards the end in a musical piece or song.
    RUBY her character is ending a chapter of her life & beginning a new one as an adult.
    Singing was her escape or outlet living in a family who are hearing impaired… that later slowly became her passion.

    I saw the BAFTA rendition and it was great. However, the original is still the best for me. That connection she made to her parents while auditioning was superb! Bridging the gap indeed! Always makes me cry! 😭😭
