I cried a lot in that scene of her and her father where she was singing and he is feeling the song through the vibrations in her neck. Hands down to one of the most touching scenes in film history.
@@YTantirungrotechai I know that, i did some research about her after watching CODA and her other stuff. The Jones generation is passed to the right people. I'm not aware that her father is a singer, but considering he is a singer and very popular in the UK, i can see why his daughter is good at singing too
Deaf Theatre West is creating a stage CODA. Their Big River & also Spring Awakening were amazing productions, I hope she can reprise CODA role when they hit Broadway BTW been annoyed wasn’t up for best actress but now I realize she has British accent I’m absolutely gobsmacked
She gave up her accent She did ASL She sang beautifully She added emotions Above all She did all of the above together. I don’t see who else should have won.
@@Yuvgup AND she said she had to learn about fishing! Definitely should have won the Oscar for Best Actress, but she wasn't even nominated. She was robbed!!!
Emilia is one of the most promising young actor working today. She was phenomenal in CODA She's so talented, I really wanna see what else she does in the future
The emotion she has when Ruby communicates with her family is what has me watch that movie over and over and over.. I’ve always loved ASL and Marlee and Daniel for a long time now.. and wow Troy I need more things with him in it.. Emilia is going to be huge .. I have to go watch Locke and key now thank you
gotta say, Jimmy’s a much better interviewer in this clip than he’d been the past 5 years. Barely interrupted, kept his laughter to a minimum, actually had a couple decent jokes, flow of conversation actually mostly unforced… Keep it up Jimmy!
Absolutely BRILLIANT young lady. She learned sign language, how to speak with an American accent and how to work a fishing boat, in a stunningly short span of time. Annnnnnd she is an outstanding actress in the movie - should have been nominated for an Oscar, imo. My hats off to this gifted actress.
Her performance was so believable, when she started singing to her family it just felt so genuine and real. I hope to see lots more from this talented young woman.
What an incredible person. She’s so real. You can just tell. And she’s an amazing talent. Her singing is so fantastic, I can’t believe she didn’t grow up in musical theater. The movie is a home run. Stupendous.
First of all I LOVE CODA, the entir cast was PERFECT Her cover of "Both Sides Now' leaves me bawling like a baby every time! Secondly Jimmy Fallon has a heart of gold. A simple gift mad Emilia Jones SO HAPPY!! I bet she'll treasure it forever
After seeing several interviews with the cast of CODA , it seems that Marlee and the other deaf actors that she was working closely with as well they are cast as her family, really took her under they’re wings so to speak and encouraged her, helped her with the ASL , etc . Young 17 year old girl at the time of filming …
That clip was Troy Kotsur's Oscar- winning moment. From that clip you don't even notice he's deaf. You just see how much he loves his little girl and how much it makes his heart ache to let her go out on her own into the world.
Can't wait to see more of Emilia! Love her love her love her. Please, Emilia, record an album covering a classic singer songwriter songs from the 70s. PLease please please. Can't wait to hear you sing more and more.
I've actually known about her for quite some time and wasn't sure if she'd ever get her big break, but then when season 1 of Locke & Key premiered back in 2020, I immediately predicted that she'd be an A-list star/the next big thing. So glad to she that that prediction is coming true
I love the show and despite its faults, Emilia is amazing. I can't wait for season 3 and other projects that she's working. And because she sang so good in CODA, I think she'd be perfect for a musical movie
Ugh that scene with Tony honestly was so touching and moving. I was holding back tears so hard! 😩 this movie was just extraordinary and makes you feel just about every emotion possible! Well deserved awards!! So happy for them all for their accomplishments! 👏💪👍🫶
oh my god I'm sooo proud of her I've only known her after watching CODA (which is the best movie right now).. and now she's everywhere!!! GOOD FOR YOU EMILIA 🤟🤟🤟
She had to learn how to sign, how to use a fishing boat, and she had to sing beautifully with an American accent. Absolutely unreal how talented she is.
The clip they showed made me sob harder than any other film this year. Andrew Garfield singing "Why" in Tick Tick Boom was right up there too. Both he and Troy Kotser deserve Oscars. Emilia was fantastic as well. Agree with another comment that said both she and Alana Haim should've been nominated.
FYI: CODA - Child Of Deaf Adults also means, the end or towards the end in a musical piece or song. RUBY her character is ending a chapter of her life & beginning a new one as an adult. Singing was her escape or outlet living in a family who are hearing impaired… that later slowly became her passion.
I saw the BAFTA rendition and it was great. However, the original is still the best for me. That connection she made to her parents while auditioning was superb! Bridging the gap indeed! Always makes me cry! 😭😭
Being from Gloucester CODA did Gloucester proud! As I watched the film and though I'm not deaf I felt like Amelia and the Rossi family signed with a Gloucester accent!
She's half Welsh. Her father is Aled Jones, a singer and presenter, a former child star, whose from Anglesey, in North Wales. Her mother is a member of a famous circus family. It's no wonder she's so talented. Cyfarchion o Gymru/Greetings from Wales 🏴

I also cried a lot with that scene, he found out that she can really sing and supports her on her dream
Absolutely, very touching
Can't get any more "touching" than that.
this scene gets teared up every time. simple yet so emotionally powerful. troy deserve his oscar
Seriously. This movie was a masterpiece.
She will definitely become one of the most brilliant actress, she really nailed it in CODA, very touched and moved.
Her emotions with the ASL IS fascinating
💯
Had no idea she has an English accent. Even more impressed with her CODA performance now.
It's like Florence Pugh. Everyone is surprised she's English, too!
I agree - and, she sang like an angel while she signed. I was surprised to learn that it wasn't dubbed.
Aled Jones daughter
She’s Welsh 🏴 😀
Check her out as an alien child singing opera in Dr. Who "The Rings of Akhenaten."
After hearing her surprisingly good singing voice in CODA, somebody should really cast her in a musical movie, she'd be perfect!
I read in wiki that she's been in some musical shows since childhood. Her father is Aled Jones, UK singer&actor.

She was so amazing in CODA, wish she would’ve at least been nominated for the Oscar
After seeing the film I was surprised that she wasn't.
There has never been a movie where I have laughed and sobbed in equal strength.
This movie is the epitome of BEST PICTURE!
That clip they showed almost had me balling, it was so touching and heartfelt 😭 Too bad I don't have 🍎📺 - more tears for that 😢 😭
