This came out great! I’ve been wanting to do something different to my fireplace as well! It’s definitely that 90s vibe. I have black accent walls in my home and have painted my window trim black, it looks amazing! I know this will seal the deal! ❤❤❤❤❤
As a painter, I'd recommend laying down a direct to metal primer before high temp paint which is what I did. But the look will be the same. Looks good.
Thanks!! I want to say I used an 80 or 120-grit block. A high grit is was you want. You're just wanting to scuff the shine so the spray can adhere better 🙂 thanks again for watching my video!!
Hi there! You can do any color, as long as you can find a high heat paint. I did read somewhere that you can use enamel paint, but to be on the safe side, high heat is the way to go.
I can tell you that it doesn't smell. But with that said, I have a gas fireplace. But this stuff is also used for grills and other high heat things, so once it gets to temp, it should be cured where there is no smell. I do hope you try it. If you do, please update me 🙂
Hi there! Are you asking about a wood burning fireplace? If yes, then the answer is also yes. This paint is heat resistant up to 1200°. Hope that helps 😊
Thanks for watching! I definitely struggled with how long I need to keep pictures up or how short to edit clips. I'll definitely keep this in mind when I edit in the future! Thanks again for your feedback 😊
We have a gas fireplace. Definitely do it! This was a very easy and cost-effective friendly upgrade. As long as you have the thermal paint, you should be good for gas and wood burning. The paint I used can withstand 400° .
Hi there!! So far, ours has held up quite well. So we haven't experienced this issue yet, so I'm unsure how to resolve that issue. If you end up finding out how to prevent the scratches, please let me know. Hope you're able to find a solution
@@TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore scuff sanded with 180 after a diligent clean. I also read it may take up to 6 months to cure? so maybe its too soon to tell. Thanks for getting back!
No problem!! Living in South Carolina, we don't get to use or fireplace too often, so maybe that's why it has held up. But if I ever get scratches, I'll keep that in mind!
I don’t understand why people paint over brass and over red brick. The fireplace looks good either way however, the black looks like the base model surround and the brass looks like the upgraded high end fireplace surround. I like shinny things I guess.
Yeah, everyone has their preferences 🙂 for me, I felt the brass looked dated and since we purchased my husband's childhood home, we wanted to change it up and make it our own. I was going to whitewash the brick, but I'm glad I didn't. A little change was good. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Just did this! It turned out so good! I also took the doors out and painted separately. Great video!
That's awesome!! I wish I had thought of that! Would have made my door WAY easier!! Thank you for watching my video!!!

We have this same ugly brass surround, great idea! I will definitely add this to the weekend DIY list!!
Looks amazing!!

Been trying to figure out how to get rid of our ugly brass on our new house fireplaces. Thanks for this tutorial!!
You're very welcome! It's amazing what a little time and paint can do!
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you !!! planning on doing it this weekend
love it! Mine looks exactly like the old brass one.. i think i will do the same for my fireplace.
Looks fantastic! We've got one almost exactly like it.
Looks great, This will save me 200. Bucks lol❤️

Can I paint my brass surround with brass colored paint and not black? i like the look of brass.

Ive been wanting to do this, a little hesitant because Im afraid when we have a big fire going it will smell like paint

Can we do this for natural wood fireplace ?

Fireplace gas or wood? Thinking of painting brass on wood fireplace but not sure if safe.

Hii! I did this same exact process, but the paint is scratching off fairly easily. How to prevent this? Did you face this issue?
